At last!
Christianity Today published a scathing indictment of Donald Trump, calling for his removal from office. Now let's see how those who call themselves Evangelical Christians react to this. This wasn't written by Democrats, but by their own people who understand what a morally diseased man Donald Trump is and that by not speaking out about the degenerate and venal man that Trump is, they will do harm to everything the Evangelical Christians and their church stand for.
At last! Moral courage and righteousness.
Where do the so-called Christians who continue to support Trump go to now to excuse their deplorable continued support for this very unChristian and morally diseased man?
An editorial published Thursday by Christianity Today, a magazine founded by the late Rev. Billy Graham, called for President Trump's removal from office in the wake of his impeachment, deeming him "grossly immoral."
"We have reserved judgment on Mr. Trump for years now. Some have criticized us for our reserve. But when it comes to condemning the behavior of another, patient charity must come first. ... To use an old cliché, it’s time to call a spade a spade, to say that no matter how many hands we win in this political poker game, we are playing with a stacked deck of gross immorality and ethical incompetence."
The maniac in the Oval Office, as predicted, has attacked and denigrated Christianity Today for telling the truth about his odious behavior as POTUS.
Maybe Trump will suggest Jesus is "looking up" from where he is because this important Evangelical group no longer supports the liar, cheat, and fraud.
Here's Trump's response to CT (he even spelled the magazine incorrectly (ET) in his ranting rage.)
Donald Trump has launched an angry broadside against a Christian magazine which endorsed his impeachment, while apparently misspelling its initials and proclaiming: “I won’t be reading ET again!”.
Evangelical publication Christianity Today, founded by Billy Graham and widely known as CT, had called for him to be removed from office for acting in a “profoundly immoral” manner.
It was a serious blow for the president, who counts evangelical voters among his support base.
And amid an early-morning flurry of tweets just days after he became the third president in US history to be impeached, the Republican turned his sights on the magazine, falsely describing it as “far left”.

The Evangelical movement sold it's soul a long time ago. I'm not sure they can recover from the terminal hypocrisy they are suffering with.
Yes, but this publication is another crack, a very good thing. Hopefully it gets a LOT of media.
Dave Miller published his comment on the post below. I've moved it to this new post that I wrote last night and published this AM>

"A crack in the wall?
Christianity Today has had enough
I was stunned. The Writer, Mark Galli is the Editor and Chief of Christianity Today.
In my opinion, this is a significant crack in the evangelical wall. Simply put, if you are part of the evangelical world, you cannot understand the importance of what Galli has done. He's given evangelicals cover. Cover to speak out and know that the largest evangelical publisher in the world, believes President Trump needs to be removed
"We [Christianity Today] believe the impeachment hearings have made it absolutely clear, in a way the Mueller investigation did not, that President Trump has abused his authority for personal gain and betrayed his constitutional oath. The impeachment hearings have illuminated the president’s moral deficiencies for all to see. This damages the institution of the presidency, damages the reputation of our country, and damages both the spirit and the future of our people. None of the president’s positives can balance the moral and political danger we face under a leader of such grossly immoral character.".
Breathtaking...
This might be a real turning point.
BlueBull, Dave,
Franklin Graham has already dismissed "Christianity Today's" call for Trump's removal by labeling the people who publish the widely read magazine "liberal."
Trump cultists will not be dissuaded. They're lost souls.
Of course Trump and his supporters will call CT a "liberal" magazine. The liberal Christians are the only ones left that havet any claim to Christian morality as taught by Jesus Christ.
How can Trump's supporters look thenselves in the mirror any more after this magazine founded by Billy Graham calls Trump immoral? Calling them "liberal" is a compliment. It appears the liberal Christians are the ones who are withness to Christ's gospel, certainly not Trump and his misguided supporters.
"Christianity Today, a prominent evangelical magazine, called for President Trump to be removed from office in a blistering editorial on Thursday, a day after he became the third president in history to be impeached and face expulsion by the Senate.
The move was the most notable example of dissent among the religious conservative base that has supported Mr. Trump through controversy after controversy, and came at one of the most vulnerable moments of his presidency.
“The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents,” Mark Galli, the editor in chief of Christianity Today, wrote in the editorial. “That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral.”
The editorial was a surprising move for a publication that has generally avoided jumping into bitter partisan battles. But it was unlikely to signal a significant change in Mr. Trump’s core support; the magazine has long represented more centrist thought, and popular evangelical leaders with large followings continue to rally behind the president."
I guess nobody bothered to tell Franklin Graham that Jesus was a liberal. There can be no question of that. He chased the money changers out of the temple, he fed the hungry, healed the sick and hung out with the fringes of society, all while asking for nothing for Himself. Today, the rabid right would call him names and threaten to shoot him for being a 'lib commie Marxist, etc. etc. etc'.
Being charitable, I guess President Trump was thinking Evangelical Today?
In any event, his tweets this morning were interesting as he castigated CT for being a "liberal" publication and essentially a tool of again, "liberal" Christians.
Since conservative Christians supposedly have the market cornered on morality, I wonder where President Trump falls on the morality scale? Notice he did not offer a defense of his actions, or even claim he has not acted as the magazine has charged.
Dave Trump's people defend him by saying "he punches back." That's how they defended his loathsome attack on the late Rep. Dingell and his wife, who did not attack Trump. Mrs. Dingell exercised her right as a U.S. Rep.
Next, he punched back at Evangelical Christians who do not see him as a morally fit president, and yes, he didn't rebut any of the charges they laid out against him in their searing criticism of him, because it is all true.
The Christians believe in the 10 Commandments which include Thous shalt not: Steal, Lie, Covet thy neighbor's wife, and Commit Adultery.
I'm surprised Trump hasn't punched God back for making Trump break those Commandments.
There's no honor in sticking with an immoral man who continues to mock dead men who are better humans than he is just because he advances your political aims. That's the very definition of a Faustian bargain.
I've read the usual bloggers who claim Trump is driving the libs crazy because he was elected. That is beyond cynicism and shows how common it is for those "Christians" to lie to themselves in order to justify continued support for this corrupt and disgrace of a human being.
Since we are no longer a Christian nation does it really matter what this publication has to say. Trump has shown that he has no morals and will attack anyone even those who do not attack him something Christians are suppose to refrain from. After all botox nan prays for the president which shows hypocrisy at it's best. How can anyone think he is a Christian and there is a supposed division between church and state. Of course that is a myth because religion is tax exempt so there goes the division argument.
I have a question for all of you constitutional experts. Has any president been impeached since there is not agreement from both legislative bodies. That even applies to both democrats who have been "impeached".
MERRY CHRISTMAS
AND DONALD J. TRUMP IS STILL YOUR PRESIDENT!
skud: "Since we are no longer a Christian nation does it really matter what this publication has to say.
United States was never a "Christian nations," as John Adams said. And it certainly DOES matter what this publications said because Trump needs their support and the Evangelicals with a moral compass have rejected this immoral man.
skud: "After all botox nan prays for the president which shows hypocrisy at it's best.
You know nothing about Speaker Pelosi's religious habits or what is in her heart. I never heard you speculate on Donald Trump and his embrace of Evangelical Christianity when they prayed over him in the Oval Office. You need to rethink what you label as "hypocrisy."
skud: "How can anyone think he is a Christian and there is a supposed division between church and state."
skud, you sound profoundly confused here. Having a personal religious belief has nothing to do with separation between church and state. It's troubling to read your confusion about the Constitution which states that THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES shall not favor any religion over any other religion. That has nothing to do with people hodling personal religious belief. You surprise me with your appalling lack of knowledge of the First Amendment. If you read anything by the founding fathers, you would have understood that by not favoring a religion, religion in the US flowered -- many religions were free to establish themselves and flourish. With a state religion, as in Middle Eastern countries only the state sanctioned religion is legal and everyone else is murdered who don't cleave to the state religion.
skud: "Of course that is a myth because religion is tax exempt so there goes the division argument."
That's nothing to do with separation between church and state. That has to do with confering a special tax exemption on ALL religions. The US Government is not favoring just one religion here --even the phony Scientologists get a tax exemption. Again, I'm shocked at how little you understand the 1st amendment's take on religious freedom.
skud: "I have a question for all of you constitutional experts. Has any president been impeached since there is not agreement from both legislative bodies. That even applies to both democrats who have been "impeached".
Your last question doesn't make sense. Can you please clarify what you mean.
Also, Richard Nixon, a Republican, was going to be impeached but members of his own party went to him in the WH and told him the votes in the Senate were against him -- Nixon would be removed fronm office. Nixon did the honorable thing and resigned rather than being thrown out of office.
I'm wondering, do you care anything about our country's history?
Yes, Liz Talbot Trump is the 3rd POTUS to be impeached AND THE FIRST POTUS to be impeached in his first term! Such a distinction!
Oh, and the Evangelical Christians want him removed from office.
Just for fun I checked out Fox "News" to see what they had to say about it. I had to do a search to find Trump's tweet, but that was all there was. No mention at all on the main page of their website. Gee, what a surprise!
jono That's why Trump cultists are so out of it where it comes to Trump's daily lies and crazy behavior. FAUX NOOZ doesn't repor any of that. Trump cultists are kept ignorant.
The CT editorial wasn't just about Trump's improper call, it was about his "habitual string of mischaracterizations, lies, and slanders." and Trump's being "morally lost and confused." Trump's "gross immorality and ethical incompetence," and his "bent and broken character."
All true and a PERFECT description of Trump's moral rot.
High off their impeachment victory, liberals went to bed safe and secure in the knowledge that Trump was defeated, his evil vanquished from the land at last. But when they woke up, they realized that Trump was still the president of the country.
Shaw... exactly. Let's be charitable and assume someone taking his "perfect" phone call in isolation, could interpret it as not expecting any favors.
That said, what about all the other moral lapses CT mentioned?
There is a strong current of forgiveness and restoration within Christianity. However that comes after acknowledgement of your sins and working to improve and move forward. The reason any of this is important though is because Trump has claimed to be a believer and other "leaders" within Christianity have vouched for and affirmed his faith.
Simply put, a man of a deep and abiding love of Jesus, would not comport himself the way President Trump does.
"Trump dynasty said...

That's all ya got, TD, and it's very weak gruel. Trump is still POTUS, but he has an indelible black mark against his sorry name for ever in American history. A corrupt, lying cheat who is THE FIRST POTUS TO BE IMPEACHED IN HIS FIRST TERM.
Be proud of that disgrace if you like. Normal Americans aren't.
Dave you may have forgotten that when Trump during his 2016 campaign was asked if he ever asked for forgiveness from God, his answer was "No" he had no reason to ask for forgiveness. If a Democrat had ever uttered that sort of hubristic claim the Christian right would have howled into the night and demanded he repent. They gave Trump a pass. Why?
IMO, the Christians who look away from this venal man and are not outraged by his unChristian slanders and smears against Rep. Dingell and John McCain who could not defend themselves because they were no longer living -- those Christians who look away, also, IMO do not think of their God's gospels and what those mean to decent human beings.
They've aligned themselves with a despicalble human being who knows absolutely nothing about Christian love and charity.
Ms Shaw: "That's nothing to do with separation between church and state. That has to do with confering a special tax exemption on ALL religions."
Confusing statement from you. Who issues taxes, state, city and federal governments therefore by the "states" issuing tax exemption that is granting special treatment for religious establishments. As a devout atheist you and RN should understand that.
Ms Shaw: United States was never a "Christian nations," as John Adams said:
That sentiment was echoed by the swell guy, surprised you didn't know that since he is your idol.
Ms Shaw: You know nothing about Speaker Pelosi's religious habits or what is in her heart.
She is a Catholic who believes in abortion and infidelity, That is not religious that is hypercritical.
Ms Shaw: Also, Richard Nixon, a Republican, was going to be impeached.
In that day you were innocent until proven guilty. Now your guilty if someone says you are. He was never voted to impeach.
Ms Shaw: Your last question doesn't make sense. Can you please clarify what you mean.
All three presidents were voted to impeach by one section of congress but were never removed. Impeachment proceedings were started against all three but none of them were IMPEACHED, even the serial rapist.
Don't you feel proud when a cheer went up over the impeachment vote. Makes you proud that a group is excited about voting to impeach the leader of their country, of course he was never their president. The hatred from the left is spine tingling.
Maybe the democrats will anoint a sane candidate who can beat him instead of uncle joe, lying lizzy and bat sh-- bernie.
That was a different time when you weren't guilty until you were proven guilty. Today he would be guilty because someone said he was but then he never was found guilty he just resigned, something trump should do but won't.
Shaw, and Dave: OT, but, and correct if I'm wrong,
Is the evidence standard for the charge of treason much higher?
The Object and Point: The conversations DT had with Putin,
of which no record exists, that we know of, and if such a
record came to light, proof would needed, of course.
I don't know if DT actions (or lack of same)
would reach the standards necessary for the charge of
treason, unless there was a record of DT discussing what
he could do FOR Putin, earlier on in his occupation. I am not
sure; if a transcript DID exist where DT promised Putin certain
actions, and then DT delivered on those promises, would
that not rise to the level of proof needed for the charge of treason?
And the cold shot? Is there a record out there with that
information? Is the process to charge a sitting POTUS
with treason the same as the impeachment process?
And, as Commander In Chief, under the charge of
treason, would the POTUS be punished by the UCMJ,
or a process similar to impeachment?
I'm thinking, only one more good chunk of damning evidence,
and we could be there, quicker than might be though possible....
For the record Skud... Speaker Pelosi tamped down the "cheer" as soon as it happened.
Just sayin...
Impeachment proceedings were started against all three but none of them were IMPEACHED, even the serial rapist
Skud, The House of Representatives...shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.
Article I, Section 2, Clause 5.
It might be helpful to understand the meaning of words. To 'impeach' means to charge or indict, it doesn't mean convict or remove from office. That is determined by a trial in the Senate. So, yes, Johnson, Clinton and Trump have all been impeached.
It's all right there in the Constitution. Consult a dictionary when you're having trouble with words like 'impeach'.
by the "states" issuing tax exemption that is granting special treatment for religious establishments
Tax exemptions (501 c 3) are also given to charities and advocacy groups provided they don't engage in political activities (i.e. endorsing a party or candidate). Even the Freedom From Religion Foundation is tax exempt. So what, in God's name, is your point?
Craig, skud often goes off on a tangent when he doesn't have all the necessary information. Allowing tax exemption for ALL religious sects is not favoring ONE religious sect. That has nothing to do with separation of church and state. I don't think he fully understands the concept.
skud: Ms Shaw: You know nothing about Speaker Pelosi's religious habits or what is in her heart.
She is a Catholic who believes in abortion and infidelity, That is not religious that is hypercritical.
I don't know if you're a Christian, but to enlighten you, there's a passage I believe in the NT that says something like: "render unto Caesar things that are Caesar's and unto God things that are God's. (Matthew 22:21 Jesus said "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and to God the things that are God's." Romans 13:1 "Let every person be in subjection to the governing authorities.)
Abortion is legal, it is the law in the US. As a US Representative, Pelosi swore to uphold the Constitution, the law of the land. Therefore, she must, through her oath, uphold the laws covering the right to an abortion. I'm surprised you don't know this.
How in the hell do you come up with her supporting infidelity? You're really off the rails here.
You don't understand what impeachment is either. It is an indictment, a charge of high crimes and misdemeanors. NIxon was told by a group of Congressional Republicans that he would be CONVICTED IN THE SENATE BECAUSE THEY HAD ALL THE PROOF THEY NEEDED. Those Congressional Republicans told him that he could be convicted and thrown out of office, or he could resign. That's another piece of history you've either forgotten or don't know. It has NOTHING to do with "innocent until proven guilty." Not one bit.
Dave Miller answered you silly plaint about the cheering. You certainly have delicate feelings when it comes to anyone acting inappropriate, don't you. Except when the Republican president smears, demeans, and mocks DEAD military heroes like John McCain or beloved DEAD Congressional representatives like Dingell. You're nothing but nitpicking here and avoiding seeing Trump for the deplorable liar, cheater, and fraud that even the largest Christian magazine says he is.
To Anonymous 7:16 PM, Here's how the Constitution defines Treason.
”So, if Paula White (Trump's personal parson) and Franklin Graham’s prayers, asking for tRump to not be impeached, went unanswered, can we take that as a sign that he is NOT chosen by god? Asking for a friend
