Sigh

Two thoughts...

Snopes gives this a mixed rating. First, it's from February 2023. Then, the group that tried to ban the book is Moms for Liberty, certainly a group of mostly Republicans, but not officially a GOP aligned group.

However, it seems ridiculous that anyone is worried about a book on seahorses encouraging humans to "choose" gender fluidity. I think the problem is this...

The natural world, the entire world of nature, including animals, humans and much more, is not as black and white or set in stone as many desire. If simply pointing that out is dangerous, we're in a bad place.

Besides, why are conservative parents really that worried that kids they've raised and influenced all their lives will reject their values?

They're banning actual biology books, or books that pitch seahorses to young children to justify freakish sexual transitions?

There is absolutely a zero logical rational reason to ban this. Only a severely constricted emotional intelligence would have a problem with this. IOW's one with a seriously stunted or misguided understanding of actual reality.

Unlikely. Except in the hallways of a dark religionist's mind.

While the official GOP has not endorsed Moms for Liberty they are confidently MAGA, just ask them. And yes, MAGA in general and MfL in specific is this triggered. I understand the article is from 2023 but that doesn't mean the banning isn't continuing now. They ban, we appeal, and here we are now.

I'm not sure you understand how much MAGA hates the LGBTQA+ community. To them we are the reason their perfect world crashed. If we'd just stayed in the closet then all those minorities they also despise (but can tolerate because someone has to wash the sheets) would go back to accepting their second class status while paying first class taxes.

Of course there is zero reason to ban any of the books targeted by Moms for Liberty. But when has reason ever coexisted with Christian nationalism? (Narrators voice - never, the answer is never).

Reason has long been gone from Christianity. It happened the very moment the RCC hierarchy (on two occasions) decided what should be and what should not be included in "the good book". The realities today stem directly from those decisions. Ya want to know greater truth? Read the Gnostic Gospels. Those were nixed by the Council(s) because of the bigoted, ignorant desire to hide Jesus's actual teachings so as to give the RCC dominion over all things spiritual, including and especially the minds of people. The RCC's desire for control was every bit as great as Trump and MAGA's desire for the same. And they are using the cover of the RCC to support their ignorance.

What the church did was insure its control over all things spiritual aa well as political and in this process lied about the actual teachings and meanings of Jesus's words.

So yup, MAGA continues to follow the beliefs of a very negative and untruthful belief system. A system founded on fear and ignorance. And hopefully one ultimately headed for complete collapse.
