We are already there
NYTimes:
Lindsey Halligan, a former defense lawyer for Mr. Trump who was hastily appointed after the president forced out her predecessor last week, is rushing to draft an indictment under withering pressure from the White House. The president has demanded the department go after one of his foremost enemies, even though career prosecutors determined there was insufficient evidence to indict Mr. Comey.
Prosecutors have been looking into whether Mr. Comey should be charged with lying to Congress in connection to the F.B.I. investigation of Mr. Trump’s 2016 campaign’s ties to Russia, which the president claims was a witch hunt aimed at destroying him.
Ms. Halligan, who had no experience as a prosecutor before her recent appointment, could seek to bring charges as early as Thursday, but is expected to take action by Tuesday, when the statute of limitations on Mr. Comey’s congressional testimony expires, according to officials who requested anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.”
NYTimes:
The directive suggests department leaders are following orders from the president, a major break from decades of past practice meant to insulate the agency from political interference.”

Proven serial liar wants revenge on straight arrow counsel, already has fired
Comey's daughter a judge - no reason given. But we know. This case will go nowhere.
Trump has filled the federal government swamp with the very type of people he was going to drain the swamp of. Go figure.
Are any of these "pushes to prosecute" the result of, you know, actual evidence? Or is it all secret knowledge, not supported by actual facts and investigation?
Any guesses folks?
You can't prosecute stupid otherwise there would be at least 400 congressman being prosecuted. Nothing will happen to anyone because they take care of each other. They will accuse the other side of everything and then go out for a drink to celebrate their privileged existence.
He is draining 'the swamp' and creating a fetid rotting toxic landfill.
Sort of a reverse Midas touch, no?
Wrong skud. The Great Orange Turd is just getting started demanding his political enemies be prosecuted. So, there will be prosecutions. Liberal/progressive politicians and activists will be the objects of persecution. It been going on since his reelection just as he promised. His recent pressure on his personal AG is the beginning of the acceleration to prosecute. The Great Orange Turd is going to exact his retribution and it will be exclusively targeting liberals to progressives his demented mind views as the enemy.
But I know your support for the human waste is unshakable.
No Skud, you can't prosecute stupid. You can only prosecute crimes, something sadly, many on the right are unable to grasp. As for them being drinking buddies, those days of yore seem to be gone amigo.
No more Reagan/O'Neill get togethers over a martini and a cigar to hash out policy.
OT: Pondering the secret meeting called by our Wart Hog War Secretary next week. Perhaps called to plan the possible Zionist/USA assault on Iran and Egypt before the military hardware/software starts being delivered by China? The rising Super Power?
Not putting anything past the 2 evil goons of the West. The Stable Genius and the Genocidal Maniac may very well be the greatest threats to world peace since WW II.
As we think about this case, here's a few things to consider...
1. There are over 100 lawyers in the Virginia Federal Prosecutors office. The former US Atty in the office resigned, rather than follow orders of non lawyer President Trump to get an indictment of Comey. That US Atty has stated there was no sufficient evidence to charge Comey.
2. None of the other more than 100 lawyers were willing to charge the case, because of a lack of evidence,
3. Trump's new US Atty in Virginia, as yet, only acting and not confirmed by the US Senate, has no, not some, no prosecutorial experience and has never in her life tried a case. Not one.
4. Trumps new US Atty in Virginia has worked in insurance law, not criminal law.
5. The Virginia office brought the charges over the objection of the entire office. How do we know this? US Attys do not sign charging documents, which Trump's appointee did in this case. Further, not a single other lawyer in the office signed on to this document, signaling a complete lack of support from the career lawyers at the Virginia office.
6. Trump, in violation of over 50 years of precedent, after Nixon tried to politicize the DOJ, has inserted himself into the process, personally overruled Sr DOJ lawyers and continues to try and influence and impact he case through his statements and social media accts.
This is a mess for the USA.
But... Trump and his cronies, including folks at the Mothership are ecstatic. Because in their minds, finally someone on the right will experience the full weight of a weaponized US government, as they believe those on the right have been living with since Nixon.
RN... this is indeed very interesting, to quote a certain soldier from Laugh In...
Salting the DOJ and Judiciary with loyalist.
Loyalists more concerned with amassing they're own infuence/power by kissing the a** of the FOTUS than doing what's right.
American democracy, as well as our standing in the, is going to hell in a hand basket under the lack of leadership from the demented FOTUS.
