TRUMP JUST POSTED THIS ON HIS TRUTH SOCIAL:

What in the name of American Constitutional law does this convicted criminal mean by this?

A supposed American president is threatening an American city and its American citizens. This is how tin-pot dictators behave.

Trump wasn't INVITED by the governor nor the mayor to come into Chicago with his masked goons. There is a legal process for what the convicted criminal president wants to do, and he has not done what the legal process requires BECAUSE HE'S A CRIMINAL -- LAWLESS.

Trump thugs have been sweeping persons off American streets without knowing if they're "illegal" or actual legal documented migrants or immigrants. Trump's masked thugs have grabbed American citizens who look like they might be brown/black undocumented persons.

This is unConstitutional, lawless, and criminal.

The deployment of out-of-state National Guard troops into a sovereign state over its chief executive’s objections violates the Constitution. There is no insurrection or breaking of federal law in Chicago going on now.

The law states that no state is required to help the federal government round up undocumented people, due to the Tenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and court rulings.

Every time Trump sends out a meme with his image in the starring role as some sort of a superhero, we know he's scared and aware that he's losing in every way possible.

All of his numbers are under water; the Independents have abandoned him as have the young Latinos who went for him in 2024. All of his policies are unpopular, even immigration. And the Epstein pedophile scandal won't go away.

The only group still supporting him are his die-hard cultists, his sycophantic cabinet, and other assorted third stringers who tell him only what he wants to hear.

Our neighbors and allies distrust him, and Putin, Xi, and Modi laugh at his incompetence and stupidity.

Les Carpenter said...

Bingo!

And everyone with any ability to recognize reality knows what Shaw said is absolutely spot on.

We know how aroused you get at the idea of a militarized police state, -FJ.
Once again, it's NOT the "Department of War's" job to enforce civilian law.
But it's telling how quickly you goose-step in your loyalty to a tyrant.

His chance for glory, the fake bone spurs caused him to miss an early opportunity. Hoping FJ joins the War Dept invasion of Chicago and his

We The People are the enemy!

This is USA Constitutional crisis. We The People must stand up against convicted felon at all cost or USA is finished.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Absolutely. And the citizens in DC did just that yesterday.

Les Carpenter said...

America was GREAT because of the people who came before. The Greatest Generation who saved humanity from Hitler's Nazi Tyranny. When the nation acted as one. A force for decency and the good.

And yet we now have a dictator in office who is every bit as emotionally unbalanced and unstable as Hitler was. Yet nearly 50% of America supports a "man" who likely would have spoe out on behalf of Hitler were he alive as an adult in 1933.

America is losing its way. If if hasn't already been lost. We can keep protesting and fighting but, all the power rests in the tRump deep state and overcoming that isn't going to be easy.

The levers of power in DC are now being corrupted in the direction of tRump's authoritarian proclivities and will of course only grow in strength as the nation simply adjusts to greater state/religios control over every aspect of their lives.

Prepare for the worst. Steel yourself against the tRump continued onslaught against democracy and the rule of law. For his goal, and that of his administration, is to destroy democracy and the Great American Experiment In Self Rule.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Your warning is spot on, Les. The only part of your comment I'd change is the "50%." Trump's support is more like 30+% of the voting population -- a minority. But that radical minority holds the levers of power.

Trump and his policies are deeply unpopular here and around the world.

In the tumultuous 7 months he's been in office, he's degraded America around the world and at home.

This will NOT end well for the Convicted Felon/Sexual Assaulter and Best Friend of America's most notorious child sex trafficker and rapist.

Les Carpenter said...

The only way I see this going positive is if, in 2026 and 2028, the near 65+% you cite that oppose the rRump regime and agenda come out in mass numbers to defeat the authoritarian agenda of MAGA. And with America's history of voting apathy that is highly unlikely IMO.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Unfortunately, a third of the voting population did not bother to vote in the last election. Those people have to be incentivized to vote.

As a country we have given POTUS far to much power to mold the country into what they want.
We allowed one president to sell off corporations to foreign countries, loan money to a company and taking a stake in the company while making them close American plants. Then we allowed him to demand citizens to either have health insurance or pay a fine.
Then we have a POTUS who opens the border for illegals to cross, institute restrictions on hiring to certain percent of a specific class and fire military personal who won't take a vaccine.
Now we have a POTUS who wants departments to comply to his wants including renaming them.
These examples are the reason sensible people will support states rights. The right says they support states rights as long as it goes along with their ideals. The left is against states rights because the federal government is better at managing individuals than the individual is.
The left spends all of their energy trashing the current POTUS instead of doing anything. The right spends all of their energy backing up the current president instead of doing anything.
You believe I support trump, which I do not I support states rights. The power of the president is far to broad but in most peoples mind that is OK if their person is in power.
The federalists were formed to protect us and deliver the mail everything else is states tights. We have allowed the power to shift, now we need to figure how to back the power away.

Les Carpenter said...

What a skewed view of reality skud.

Dave Dubya said...

Skud,
Whatever happened to "states rights" to deploy their National Guard as they see fit?
Whatever happened to "states rights" to manage their elections since Trump has ordered all states to comply with HIS executive orders on ballots and process?
Seems you support states rights as long as it goes along with your ideals.
"States rights" was the Confederacy's excuse to have slaves.
"States rights" is why Oklahoma mandates public schools teach kids the 2020 election was stolen.
"States rights" is the reason women have LOST reproductive RIGHTS.
Are you cool with all that?

Dave Miller said...

Skud states... "As a country we have given POTUS far to much power to mold the country into what they want."

He's not wrong.

So skud, a couple of questions...

Thinking narrowly of both liberals/progressives and conservatives/MAGA folks, which group in the post 1960 [mostly the lifetimes of this little group of bloggers] era has been working hardest to expand presidential power and establish the "power of the unitary executive"? Will you provide links to back up your assertions?

Second... you said "You believe I support trump, which I do not I support states rights."

First, I believe you believe that. But if you vote for people who enable Trump, your non vote directly for him means nothing. If the people for you vote, and I believe those are mostly conservative folks from the south, fully support his policies, effectively, your support him, and his policies.

Second, the south moved to break up the United States over the the twin issues of slavery and states rights. They fought a war to defend those ideas. And they got crushed. They lost. Their ideas were defeated.

Yet southern conservatives tried again in defiance of Brown v Topeka, aiming to eliminate access to public schools for black children. It took federal troops to enforce this SCOTUS decision, where again, conservatives Supreme Court claimed, under the doctrine of states rights, an ability to segregate schools.

The SCOTUS ultimately rejected this claim, ruling in 1954 that state-mandated segregation in public schools violated the Fourteenth Amendment's Equal Protection Clause, and ended long-standing precedent and asserting federal authority over states in this area of civil rights.

So apparently, there are limits to the defeated and discredited states rights doctrine.

The question for everyone here is how do we determine when a state has a right, for example, California having stronger anti air pollution standards or Texas having more lax building standards in flood plains, to exceed federal authority. And when does the federal government have the right to exert its power over states, a la Little Rock?

Happy Sunday All...

BB-Idaho said...

States rights is always problematic. A Civil War was fought over that. The 'left' has been neutered by the illegal actions of the current POTUS. Until his supporters begin to realize what he and they are doing and take action, we can just point out the current farce that makes the US the laughingstock of our longstanding enemies and the bane of out allies, we can only complain. Until that is banned.

My younger brother (born in "55") posited that perhaps we should have opted for 50 individual sovereign states. Perhaps we should have.

I'm not touching the misinformation mush posted by our trolls. Those of us who understand realize there is not one fact any of us could say that would pierce their deliberate fog of ignorance. I know this because over the months I've personally witnessed the presentation of hundreds of facts and yet, here we are. By playing footsy with the authoritarians they chose a side and any protestations to the contrary can be credited to anger for their duplicity being called out in public.

I think it's laughable that Trump posted the Apocalypse Now themed Truth (reposted by the official White House account, of course) with a very direct threat to Chicago by stating there's a reason it's now called the Department of War. My laughter continued at the press conference where Trump blew up at a reporter who asked about why he declared war on an US city.

Ooohh he was mad! You never listen he railed at the reporter even as her question proved that yes, indeed, she had listened. LOL - he hates being called out by a woman. Dude has issues, no lie.

Yes, what Trump and his merry helpers are doing horrible and reprehensible. Our institutions are crashing down around our ears. Trumps private equity crony's aren't waiting for permission to enact their plan to sell off our infrastructure and natural resources. Hell, SecDef Hegseth is talking about renting out Camp Pendleton buildings to foreign interests.

WeThePeople will survive this. And our institutions were already broken so no harm, no foul on that one. When a hurricane comes through I'm not crying over the bookcase that was a sidewalk find from college, just saying. No, my tears are reserved for those who deserve them, may their memories be a blessing for the future.

That said I'm focused on the voices with a plan and there is a whole choir of folk singing the same song - Medicare for all, Universal Basic Income, Basic Housing assistance for the unhomed, Food Assistance for all, and a sensible tax rate aimed at those who've stolen so much from the public to fund it all. Reminder: a million seconds is about 11.5 days while a billion seconds is around 31.7 years.

No one needs that much money. No one except a country that is.

Les Carpenter said...

Greedy?

Dave Miller said...

Dave, you know better than to expect answers. Skud is no more willing or seemingly able to use your fact templates than the Suzannes, Toms, Victors and other anonymous trolls.

Because to do so would force a level of truth and honesty most conservatives, including Skud, seek to avoid.

skudrunner said...

We can live in the days when the democrats were so upset that they passed Jim Crowe but that is history. George Wallace was a democrat who tried to enforce segregation and because of republicans and a moderate democrat president made him back down.

Now we have states using states rights to declare they will not support federal law and declare themselves sanctuary states and cities. Then the federal government wants to send NG to protect them and that is outrages. The only law that matters are laws you agree with.

States should be able to to what their citizens want. All the ruckus over abortion because the left wanted to determine what everyone wanted. Abortion should be a states right because it is up to the people to determine and if you don't agree with one state you can move to another. If you don't like Cali pollution standards you can move. I am for people determining how they want to live and giving them the choice where to live.
Federal government should be to protect us and deliver the mail. Preventing discrimination is an act of protecting us and should fall to the federalists.

Dave Dubya said...

You're right, Dave. Since no answer is expected from Skud, we may surmise he approves of all the "states rights" measures I listed.
If slavery is what the white majority wants, then Blacks should move to another state. WTF!!!!
Of course his notion of states rights is DENYING individual rights to women, or minorities, or anyone else white Christian nationalists hate.
Rights are either for ALL Americans or for whomever the powerful conservatives dictate to have them. One of these is an abomination.
Yeah, the latter is anti-American all the way.
"Now we have states using states rights to declare they will not support federal law" is bullshit.
States pay for and enforce THEIR laws. The feds are supposed to enforce federal law. Expecting states to foot the bill for the feds obligations USED to be what conservatives hated. Not so much under the Trump dictatorship.
