"Pentagon briefers acknowledged to congressional staff in a briefing Sunday that Iran was not planning to strike US forces or bases in the Middle East unless Israel attacked Iran first, undercutting the administration's argument Saturday that Tehran was planning to potentially strike the US preemptively and posed an imminent threat, according to multiple people who attended the briefing."

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul’s response to the strikes on Iran:
“As yet another preemptive war is begun in the Middle East, John Quincy Adam’s words of wisdom still ring true:
“Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.”
Like most Americans I have sympathy for the plight of the Iranian people and all subjected people around the globe, from North Korea to Tibet.
But as Adam’s wrote, America: “goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.
She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.
She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.”
The Constitution conferred the power to declare or initiate war to Congress for a reason, to make war less likely.
Madison wrote that “the Executive Branch is the branch most prone to war, therefore, the Constitution, with studied care, delegated the war power to the legislature.”
As with all war, my first and purest instinct is wish Americans soldiers safety and success in their mission.
But my oath of office is to the Constitution, so with studied care, I must oppose another Presidential war.”

The Captain of the Mother Ship appears to be VERY confused:
"LIES. ANGER. HATE=DEMOCRATS. They even hate so much they’ll hang a president out to dry who is trying to avoid a full-on war and keep us safe."
Can anyone explain how a president tries to avoid a "full-on war" by bombing the country and killing its leaders?
Go read her cri de coeur about all the "hate" in America and how it's all the Democrats' fault.
It's a jumble of scattered opinions and ill-informed statements, (not to mention the poor grammar) without a scintilla of self-reflection about what she supports and why.
America: Continuing to use war and destruction to build empire. It will ultimately fail and fail bigly, and hard.
Trump is a liar. Trump is a bully. Trump is a narcissist. Trump is ignorant.
Trump deserves the disdain and disrespect he has earned, in spades.
So does his alcoholic War Secretary.
Let me get this straight. We'll be out in "four or five weeks" after which, what, Iranians establish a democratic government? And who is going to help whoever initiates that effort? You can provide your own answer but it's not the administration's. The very idea of (a) regime decapitation; (b) war; and (c) democratic self-governance is exactly the path we took with Iraq, except there, we were directly involved in nation-building. Went badly. But the best we can hope for here is that someone takes the reins and keeps Iran from collapsing into a failed state, with would then ignite a regional unraveling. So we heard from SecWAR Hegseth that all those preceding presidents were basically stupid, and he mentioned Biden directly, but this president is really, really smart and so this time, it will be different. Holy cow. The mind reels.
Heads buried in delusion. Hearts mired in hate. Compassion out the window. Egos firmly in charge.
The legacy of the West since the end of WW II.
Failing to see the errors of our own exploitation and manipulation of others wr bitch when they hate us.
And this ignorant fake president and moron will leave the worst legacy of any post WW II president. Hands down.
Everything is Biden's fault. Thus sayeth the Emperor.
