Zacharia is out!

She didn't even make it as long as a Scaramucci!*

Katie Zacharia Is Ousted After 5 Days as White House Press Secretary

The ouster came as Ms. Zacharia was shadowed by questions about how she had presented her legal career and handled her first press briefing.

*A Scaramucci (or a "Mooch") is a humorous political unit of time equal to 10 or 11 days. [1, 2, 3]
  • Origin: It is named after Anthony Scaramucci, who served as White House Director of Communications for just 11 days in July 2017 during the first presidency of Donald Trump.
  • Usage: People use it as a tongue-in-cheek metric to measure the short-lived tenures of political figures, public officials, or corporate leaders.
  • Synonym: Often shortened to a "Mooch" (e.g., saying someone lasted "4 Mooches" in a job).

The more important issue is this: When will this nation fully open its eyes and ears to the lack of gravitas that exists in, and drives trump regime?

She was definitely an idiot.

They need to do little bit more research before appointing someone to a public position. We have a history of really good press secretaries who come into a meeting prepared and not just someone who is attractive.
She was ill prepared for for the job and didn't have the fact that she was a minority and gay to fall back on. Both of the past two administrations have had very good press spokes person Psaki, Leavitt were very competent the we had the DEI appointment who was a bobble head and the last one who was appointed because she was a supporter. One of the problems the press faces is with biden his spokesperson was visible and needed to speak for him because he couldn't and with trump he has to be in the news every minute so the press person takes on a passive role.
Now who is next?

Of course. MAGA sentiments carrying zero validity. Except for MAGA bobbleheads.

Anon, et al...

What is left unsaid by everyone here is the utter incompetence of this administration. And the Zacharia appointment is simply more evidence of that incompetence.

Whatever the qualifications might be for serving as a presidential press secretary, there is one essential quality that ought to be nonnegotiable: truthful candor.

And since Trump's first term, we've been subjected to a parade of people at that particular podium who have demonstrated anything but.

First, Sean "This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration" Spicer.

Then Sarah "Countless FBI agents supported the firing of Comey" Sanders.

Then Kayleigh "President Trump never downplayed the coronavirus" McEnany.

Then Karoline "The Biden administration planned to spend $50 million on condoms for Gaza" Leavitt.

And now, Katie "I passed the bar in China" Zacharia.

What does all this say?

In August 2015, candidate Donald Trump promised the American people:

"I'm going to surround myself only with the best and most serious people. We want top-of-the-line professionals."

Clearly, he was either lying or badly mistaken.

Because even a cursory examination of his press secretaries suggests that he has surrounded himself with anything but "the best and most serious people."

And the rot goes much deeper into his administration.

How could a serious administration approve and recommend Zacharia for a position in the White House? Did nobody check her legal background? Did nobody bother to verify her claims about passing the bar?

Be honest, my conservative, MAGA-supporting friends.

There are two troubling possibilities.

Either the administration did its due diligence, discovered the problems, and recommended a flawed candidate to Trump anyway, or those responsible for vetting her failed to do their jobs and misrepresented her qualifications to the president.

Neither possibility inspires much confidence.

But it doesn't end there.

We have an ambassador reportedly caught pressuring a wealthy donor to pay her American Express bill.

A Secretary of Defense publicly calls for the execution of a prisoner, drawing enthusiastic support from evangelical sycophants, before Trump himself takes that option off the table.

And then there's the White House, at Trump's direction, publicly siding with Russia in its invasion of Ukraine.

This might be the worst week for a White House since Richard Nixon's resignation back in 1974.

What we're witnessing isn't merely a series of isolated mistakes or embarrassing appointments. It's a pattern of incompetence, dishonesty, and extraordinarily poor judgment.

And that pattern begins at the top.

Trump promised us the best people. Instead, we're watching an administration whose failures are increasingly impossible to ignore.

With the very real possibility of Democrats taking control of both the House and Senate in the coming elections, the pressure is mounting.

And as Trump panics, the incompetence of those around him is becoming more apparent by the day.

Speaking of Trump and incompetence and dishonesty, he's still promoting the incredibly stupid lie that children in grammar schools get sex change operations without their parents' consent.

Hoping for competence, honest candor, integrity, and actual service to improve on America's deep issues from the trump regime is like expecting elephants to fly.

IOW's Dave is right. The embarrassment and disgrace the trump regime successfully places on America almost daily now is only going to worsen.

America has lost the respect it once had with most nations on the planet.

Ms. Shaw, Sorry but you are mistaken "Yes, under specific state laws, teenagers aged 15 and older can legally consent to medical and surgical gender-affirming care without parental permission, though public data shows actual surgeries for minors are exceedingly rare." One is to many (INMO).

Dave, Press secretaries are to follow directions given to them by the administration but they should know what is going on. The curly top one said she didn't know the answer more than she provided one. She also said biden was competent when she spent time with him and was either stupid or lied.

BTW that was me as anon 1102, sometimes I get logged out and if I don't verify my sign in it posts as anon.

Nice job Skud. In a post about Trump, you couldn't resist the Biden Administration could you? But it's worse. As someone married to a "curly top", your description of Biden Press Sec Karine Jean Pierre is both racist, uncaring and offensive.

You could have kept the same criticism without bringing her hair, which she was born with, into the discussion. But racists, or at best, racially insensitive ppl sometimes can't help themselves.

Because y'all think those remarks are just "good, clean humor."

Finally... if "Press secretaries" are to follow directions from the Admin, as you claim, what you are saying is all of Trump's Press Secretaries have lied at his behest.

Not shaded the truth, not evaded giving an answer, not said I'll get back to you, but they have been instructed, by the POTUS, to lie to the press and by extension, America.

I agree with you.

And Zacharia's problem is that unlike Leavitt et al, she's not a good liar. So he fired her.

In some states, minors aged 15 and older can legally consent to certain medical transgender procedures without parental consent, though this is rare and generally restricted to non-surgical medical care.

While the vast majority of U.S. states require parental approval for a minor to access any form of transition-related care—and roughly half of all states have banned gender-affirming care for minors entirely—a few jurisdictions operate under broader medical consent laws that extend to gender-affirming care.

Even in states like Oregon where minors 15 and older can consent to medical care independently, surgical procedures remain heavily restricted.

• National medical guidelines and hospital protocols within the United States heavily restrict surgical interventions for individuals under 18.

Major healthcare providers across the country almost universally require explicit parental or guardian consent—and often extensive mental health evaluations—before performing any major surgical procedure on a minor, except in highly rare legal situations involving fully emancipated youth.

The truth is in the details, skud.
