Presidents Reagan and H.W.Bush and Their Pro-Immigration Words

Today's TeaPublican Party members would hoot, stomp their little hooves, and loudly boo Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush off the stage for what they said about immigration during their debates in 1980. And if the Vulgar Talking Yam were on the stage with them, he'd holler "Get 'em the hell outta here!"

Don't believe the TeaPublican Party for a minute when they give homage to their idol, Ronald Reagan. Watch the video below and listen to what Reagan and his future vice president had to say about undocumented people who wish to work here or become citizens.  Both Reagan and Bush would be run out of the present day TeaPublican Party quicker than it took the Trumper to change wives for what they said because an extreme, rabid group of  pseudo-religious nihilists have taken over the party and are now poised to nominate one of the most unprepared, inexperienced fools ever supported by a major political party.

Speaking of our southern border, here's an email I received this AM about a 2006 vote on putting up a fence there. Both Senators Clinton and Obama voted in favor.  The nay vote?  Senator Bernie Sanders:

"Everyone keeps talking about the Trump wall, but people are not talking about an actual law creating a 700 mile multi-layered “secure fence” that both Senators Clinton and Obama voted YEA.

Bernie voted NAY in the House. People need to know the facts. If Trump is crazy to be talking about a wall, it’s just as crazy to have voted to build a multi-layered fence across our border stretching 700 miles. Right? The only real progressive in the race is Bernie Sanders."

Question: On Passage of the Bill (H.R. 6061 ) H.R. 6061 (Secure Fence Act of 2006 ) Vote Number: 262 Vote Date: September 29, 2006, 09:30 PM Clinton (D-NY), Yea Obama (D-IL), Yea Amends the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 to direct the Secretary to provide at least two layers of reinforced fencing, installation of additional physical barriers, roads, lighting, cameras, and sensors extending: (1) from ten miles west of the Tecate, California, port of entry to ten miles east of the Tecate, California, port of entry; (2) from ten miles west of the Calexico, California, port of entry to five miles east of the Douglas, Arizona, port of entry (requiring installation of an interlocking surveillance camera system by May 30, 2007, and fence completion by May 30, 2008); (3) from five miles west of the Columbus, New Mexico, port of entry to ten miles east of El Paso, Texas; (4) from five miles northwest of the Del Rio, Texas, port of entry to five miles southeast of the Eagle Pass, Texas, port of entry; and (5) 15 miles northwest of the Laredo, Texas, port of entry to the Brownsville, Texas, port of entry (requiring fence completion from 15 miles northwest of the Laredo, Texas, port of entry to 15 southeast of the Laredo, Texas, port of entry by December 31, 2008). States that if an area has an elevation grade exceeding 10% the Secretary may use other means to secure such area, including surveillance and barrier tools.

The video below shows how liberal both Ronald Reagan and H.W. Bush were in approaching immigration issues.

Today, no TeaPublican running for the presidency comes close to supporting what Presidents Reagan and H.W. Bush supported when the T-GOP was a sane political party.

How embarrassingly low the Republican Party has sunk.  Not only has it lost its mind, but it has lost its soul as well.

For all their hysterical worshiping of Ronnie Raygun, it's amazing how unlike him today's GOP has become. There's no way he'd want any part of them or that they'd want him. He'd be a RINO and drummed out of the party like so many others over the past several years as they went insane as a party. When they wax nostalgic for St. Raygun, I just laugh at how utterly absurd they've become.

Reagan morphed from a liberal democrat to a conservative republican. Chances are that he would be leading the TPers today. After all, he did have Alzheimer's.

I was not a Reagan fan then, but I can acknowledge that as a matter of fact, at least at some levels, America came together during his flawed presidency.

I can also see the problems he would have trying to get the nomination of his party today.

While many GOP partisans disagree and say the party would roundly support him now, none of those people offer anything that would convince folks that the electorate today would accept his "RINO" positions on compromise, immigration, and other issues.

The fact is Reagan did believe government had a role to play in society and worked to make it better, not destroy it.

And he said government was th problem.

Hear Hear Dave!! Ronald Reagan was certainly no Trump. He really cared about America and understood compromise was essential. Anyone who grasps the truth that there really does exist excesses and overlap in government can grasp the idea and attraction of limited government. Reagan did bring America together.

Jerry, Dave is right. Reagan understood fovernment had a vital role, he simply felt it was too expansive. Which, as I am sre you know, he did not shrink the size of government. he simply slowed it's frowth, a little.

And tripled the debt in the process.

The result of cutting taxes instead of paying for our national defense.

RN, Jerry is right. Reagan: "Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem". As for Reagan's huge deficits being "The price of outstanding the USSR on military and defense helping to accelerate its inevitable collapse"... utter nonsense. The Soviet Union would have collapsed on it's own. According to Dr. Susmit Kumar "Communism Collapsed Due to Collapse in Oil Price in Late 1980's and German Banks – Not Due to Reagan" and "it is just Republican Party propaganda that this collapse was due to Reagan's military buildup". Progressive Radio and TV personality Thom Hartmann says the Soviet Union was "decaying from within, ripe for collapse any time, regardless of what the US did".

The fact is that Regan's excessive military spending (on such boondoggles as the Strategic Defense Initiative AKA "Star Wars") was meant to break government by driving us deeply into debt (AKA "Starve the Beast"). Starve the Beast is central to the evil Republican plan to destroy popular socialist programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Providing a social safety net, something Democrats believe should be government's central role, Republicans like Reagan reject as "too expansive". This explains Reagan's fearmongering about Social Security supplanting private savings and Medicaid curtailing freedom.
