For the past two days...

(The fighting GOP elephants post will be up again later.)

BREAKING NEWS:  The Salt Lake Tribune Endorses Hillary to be President.

I have received in several emails and seen on facebook the following meme:

Those two photos are not a comparison.

Why?

This is why:

Men's naked buttocks are not obscene. They're natural. In fact every single male reading this has naked buttocks inside his underwear (that's if he's wearing any). On any given summer's day on any beach in Europe, in various South American or even North American beaches, a male's bare buttocks, and even a female's bare buttocks can be seen. It's not disgusting, it natural.

A grown man bragging about grabbing a woman's genitals is not "banter," it's bragging about sexual assault.  Donald Trump bragged and admitted to Billy Bush that he does this whenever he's around beautiful women because he can't help himself. Trump said he sexually assaults women, and Billy Bush thought that was hilarious. IMO, that's obscene.

Men walking in a parade with thongs on that show off their buttocks is not the same as a 59 year old man talking about how he likes to grab women's "pussies" against their will.

The outrage is not because Trump used the word "pussy," the outrage comes from Trump's casual boast that he can get away with sexually assaulting women because he's a star.

The right wingers were disgusted with Bill Clinton for the notorious Monica Lewinsky scandal, and that was bad and terrible time for our country.

But when was the last time we had someone running for POTUS while he had a rape law suit being filed and heard against him?

And where is the right wing disgust on this?

Lawsuit accusing Donald Trump of raping 13-year-old girl gets December hearing

Oh, wait. It's just locker room banter.

Do people realize that Donald Trump has now given a more detailed plan on how to assault women than how to defeat Isis?

At least he's right about one thing; when it comes to sexual assault, he knows more than the generals.

So the excuse for the far right Evangelicals to stick with Don the seuxual assaulter is that God works with flawed individuals to do his work, as God has done in the Bible.

Well, that's the first time I've heard an explanation for the great presidency of Bill Clinton. So by the far right Evangelical's reasoning, Bill Clinton and the blue dress was just God's way of doing his work.

Best excuse I've heard in a long time for a seuxal predator.

Also, let us not forget what Bill Clinton did with Monica Lewinsky was not a crime.

E. Rosewater said...

it's time to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the growing allegations.

Dave Miller said...

Let me put it this way...

I do find looking at other guys cans offensive, but that's just me. But they are not running for President of the United States.

Since a lot of us have said we were not happy with what Clinton did, we've crossed that bridge. it matters not how some guy dresses or what an actor says, because again... THEY ARE NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT.

If trump didn't want to be judged by this standard, he should have remained a beauty show producer... and lousy hotel manager and developer.

As distraction after distraction after distraction continues to shape the American political landscape.

America is rapidly becoming a child state where anything goes. The more bizarre and crazy the more play something gets.

Ray, you are very perceptive. Trump rarely speaks policy, mostly, he speaks about how great he's going to make everything and how smart and rich he is. That isn't policy.

Anon @8:28PM, those particular Evangelicals would make excuses for the Devil himself if he had an "R" after his name.

Jerry Critter, Trump brought this investigation into his slimey behavior when he said Bill Clinton's past was fair game. Trump again showed how dumb he is or how privileged he believes he is because he didn't think these stories would surface.

E. Rosewater, Trump would threaten to sue the Special Prosecutor, that's how he handles anyone who dares to challenge him.

Dave, At the beginning of this awful campaign, Donald Trump and his people said Bill Clinton's past -- 30 and 20 years ago - was "fair game. Now Donald Trump is complaining that the Clintons are bringing sexual allegations from 10 years ago up!

Trump and his people said at the beginning of this awful campaign that the women who were molested by Bill Clinton had a right to be heard and believed. Now Trump and his people are trying to shut down the testimonies women he assaulted and molested from telling their stories.

American politics.

Ugh.

RN yes, distraction after distraction.

from Rush Limbaugh:

RUSH LIMBAUGH: "You know what the magic word, the only thing that matters in American sexual mores today is? One thing. You can do anything, the left will promote and understand and tolerate anything, as long as there is one element. Do you know what it is? Consent. If there is consent on both or all three or all four, however many are involved in the sex act, it's perfectly fine. Whatever it is. But if the left ever senses and smells that there's no consent in part of the equation then here come the rape police. But consent is the magic key to the left."

Rush just defined what sexual assault is -- forcing oneself on a victim WITHOUT CONSENT. And Rush has a problem with that! If anything defines the utter imbecility of people like Rush, that statement does it -- BIGLY!

Mark Sumner:

Over the space of 24 hours, it has become clear that Donald Trump’s “locker room talk” was a lot more than just talk. Multiple witnesses—and victims—of his actions have come forward. In that brief period we’ve learned that:

o Trump used his ownership of beauty pageants to sneak backstage while contestants were undressed, including at teen pageants with girls as young as 14.

o Trump assaulted and constrained a People Magazine reporter who was sent to write a story on his “wedded bliss.”

o Trump assaulted a woman on a plane who simply had the bad luck to be seated next to him.

o Trump forced a kiss on a woman who introduced herself in Trump Tower, and kept her from leaving.

o Trump kissed other contestants at his pageants without their permission.

o Trump groped a woman he encountered at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

o Trump kissed and groped yet another of his pageant contestants.

o Trump leered at a 10-year-old and said he “would be dating her in ten years.”

o Trump closed out the evening by denying everything and firing off frivolous legal threats.

And that doesn’t even cover the latest madness in Trump's rally speeches, where incoherent babble was broken by additional threats to lock up Hillary Clinton, lock up Hillary’s lawyers, “investigate the investigation” (and presumably lock up the Justice Department). And by not just attacks on other Republicans, but claims that there was a 'sinister deal' being made to stop him.

Trump’s campaign isn’t just melting down, it’s going on up in flames.

Trump is at a rally saying that all the allegations from all the women who have come forward to claim he groped them and was inappropriately sexual with them ARE ALL FALSE AND NOT TO BE BELIEVED.

This is the same guy who said we should listen to and believe all the sexually inappropriate actions Bill Clinton perpetrated against women, that those women's stories deserved to be heard and believed.

Only Bill Clinton's victims deserve to be heard and believed but not Donald Trump's.

Get it?

I hope people are paying attention to this sexual predator and fraud.

skudrunner said...

Are you talking about trump or clinton?

How many of those allegations against trump are proven. In the land of -H- aren't you still innocent until proven guilty?

If indeed you were slandered and you had the money, wouldn't you file a law suit.

We know -H- lied to the FBI, the American people and has conspired with the DNC to marginalize Bernie. We know BJC had inappropriate relations with an intern and has been accused of rape and molestation. Only the intern relations are proven.

We know trump said some vulgar things but the rest is yet to be proven so he is still innocent.

Too bad there aren't enough "little men in white coats" to cart away all the deluded morons determined to cast their votes for the sexual predator, Trump. Every one of them ought to be locked up in a padded cell.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Anonymous, we don't need "little men in white coats." We'll see what happens on November 8.

From Nate Silver's FiveThirtyEight:

Trump isn’t “Teflon.” Stories like these have hurt him. The conventional wisdom from the primaries — that Trump was unaffected by scandals or other negative storylines — hasn’t held up in the general election. Trump is the most unpopular presidential nominee of the modern era, and furthermore, downswings in his polling correlate well with specific incidents, such as his criticism of Judge Gonzalo Curiel and Khizr and Ghazala Khan. He’s also lost further ground to Hillary Clinton since the tape was released last week.

Proposition No. 2: These events may affect Trump’s “floor” more than his “ceiling.” At some point, though, one wonders how much lower Trump can go. He’s getting only 39 percent of the vote in national polls, a low figure for such a partisan era. Even if Trump gets embroiled in further scandals, each one may drive away fewer voters than the one before, as he’s already been involved in so many. And Trump’s response to the accusations — such lashing out at The New York Times and other media organizations that reported his accusers’ stories — could play well with his base.

Jerry Critter said...

skud - "We know trump said some vulgar things but the rest is yet to be proven so he is still innocent. "

Trump has admitted on tape that he has committed sexual assault. He has confessed! He should be in jail.

LOL! It just gets better and better:

Liberty U Students Break With Falwell Jr: ‘We Want Nothing To Do With’ Trump

Who the hell is left supporting this walking disaster of a sexual predator?

Shaw Kenawe said...

Liberty U Students:

In the months since Jerry Falwell Jr. endorsed him, Donald Trump has been inexorably associated with Liberty University. We are Liberty students who are disappointed with President Falwell’s endorsement and are tired of being associated with one of the worst presidential candidates in American history. Donald Trump does not represent our values and we want nothing to do with him.

A majority of Liberty students, faculty, and staff feel as we do. Donald Trump received a pitiful 90 votes from Liberty students in Virginia’s primary election, a colossal rejection of his campaign. Nevertheless, President Falwell eagerly uses his national platform to advocate for Donald Trump. While he occasionally clarifies that supporting Trump is not the official position of Liberty University, he knows it is his title of president of the largest Christian university in the world that gives him political credentials.
Associating any politician with Christianity is damaging to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But Donald Trump is not just any politician. He has made his name by maligning others and bragging about his sins. Not only is Donald Trump a bad candidate for president, he is actively promoting the very things that we as Christians ought to oppose.
