Trump's America

UPDATE:

NRA spokesworman, Dana Louche, had some choice fascist words to say about journalists -- y'know, the people who write about what the NRA promotes, weapons that kill 33,000 Americans each year:

NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch said journalists 'need to be curb-stomped', in resurfaced footage'They are the rat bastards of the earth. They are the boil on the backside of American politics,'

And in case you didn't know or have forgotten, here's the governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, joking about shooting reporters:

May 26, 2017

"Texas Gov. Greg Abbott joked about shooting reporters while visiting a gun range and carrying a target sheet with bullet holes in it. As he was holding the bullet-ridden target, Abbott allegedly said, “I’m gonna carry this around in case I see any reporters,” according to the Texas Tribune."

*****************************

Yes. This really happened:

Trump has on many occasions called the media, and specifically the press, "America's biggest enemy."

Today 5 people were shot to death at a newspaper facility.

Their blood is on Trump.

Here's one of Trump's biggest supporters:

Milo Yiannopoulos Encourages Vigilantes to Start ‘Gunning Journalists Down’

Milo Yiannopoulos has started issuing reporters threatening messages when asked to comment for stories.
“I can’t wait for the vigilante squads to start gunning journalists down on sight,” the right-wing nationalist told Observer over text message, in response to a longer feature in development about an Upper East Side restaurant he is said to frequent.

Milo Yiannopoulos said reporters should be ‘gunned down on sight’ shortly before Annapolis newsroom shooting

On Tuesday, this Trumpista asshole encouraged his crazy-ass followers to kill journalists.  Two days later, his wish came true in Maryland.

Inciting murder?

The Trumpistas went nuts over what Rep. Maxine Waters said about heckling people who worked in the Trump administration, but they won't open their hypocritical maws about this murder that was incited by a Trump supporter.

MSNBC's Ali Velshi went there, he said if that shooting in Annapolis at Capital Gazette newspaper was a specific targeting of journalists we have to know quickly, After all the president has said on many occasions the press is an enemy of the people.

Prepare for Civil War II. 30% plus of Americans believe it will occur within the next 5 years.

Is America done to become the Beruit or Syria of the West?

It is possible.

Yiannopoulos is becoming another Ann Coulter, trying to keep the spotlight on himself by always out-wingnutting every other wingnut. That "Upper East Side restaurant" needs to Red Hen him at the very least.

That being said, do we know yet what the shooter's motive was? I haven't seen any information about that reported yet. It may well turn out that he was a Trumpanzee carrying out the regime's war on the media on a literal level. But it's best to wait until we're sure. It will actually weaken our case if we tie this to Trump and then it turns out the guy was obeying orders from the planet Neptune transmitted via his teeth fillings. It does happen. Remember that guy who shot Reagan because he thought it would impress Jodie Foster.

Rational: I'm not actually worried about a civil war. The last time the wingnuts tried something that could remotely be described as a military operation, they seized a bird sanctuary visitor kiosk for a few weeks, forgot their Cheetos, and ended up ignominiously surrendering without accomplishing anything but a little property damage. They're long on threatening rhetoric but way too short on brains and organizing ability to ever accomplish anything more than occasional isolated shootings and comic-opera bungling. Yes, those things are bad, but we're nowhere near a civil war.

When in is acceptable to refuse service to someone just because of their employment and have a corrupt politician thump for confrontation with people because of their employment and the push is for open boarders you may be right.

Infidel753, as of now, we know that the shooter had a long-standing feud with the newspaper, but we'll never know how Trump's rhetoric about the press and journalists as America's enemies influenced the shooter to feel impunity in going on a murderous rampage.

Whether Trump's fascistic rhetoric was a direct cause or not, his words and the words of people like Yiannopolous and Loesch are inciting mayhem and encouraging mentally unstable people to act on their murderous impulses.

skud, this post is about murdered journalists, not Trump's lying press secretary and her delicte feelings. You're acting trollish again.

Anon @7:40 PM, 6/28, We don't really know what pushed the shooter over the edge to think he might get away with his murderous vengence. But as I said to Infidel753, the constant demonizing of media would certainly make someone with a grudge against them feel emboldened -- after all, the most powerful man in the country calls them America's worst enemies -- not Isis, not NoKorea, but our American media, according to President Porn Star Shagger, are our "worst enemies."

And his supporters are okay with that murderous rhetoric. And it is murderous. What would we expect some patriotic nutcase to do to "America's worst enemies?"
RN, Do you really think we're at that point?

skud,
Once again, what is wrong with your reading comprehension? Your comment has absolutely nothing to do with the topic of this post. If you want to discuss another topic, why do you start your own damn blog, instead of trying to highjack this one.

RN, so far there hasn't been much need for a violent civil war. The movement towards an authoritarian fascist state is proceeding.
Remember, Preznit Tweety hasn't been called out on his admiration of autocrats.

The cooption of the press, scapegoating minorities, militarization and a supremacist foreign policy are all present.
I hold on to hope that there will be an effective pushback but the window is closing.

Infidel -- The shooter did have an ongoing personal conflict with the newspaper but the more important issue is the environment being established by fringe right hate mongers that probably helped his violence to become manifest.

Shaw and Infidel... No, I do not think we're at the point of civil war. We tried that once and it didn't turn out well for the rebels. The federal government is a hell of a lot more powerful with more resouirces amd power thanit had in 1860. I was merely citing a recent poll.

I do think the wingnuts on the right, including the NRA leadership and a large segment of tRump supporters are intentionally driving civil unrest to dangerously high levels. Their reason? A pathetic and sick attempt to take America back. Which of course means to roll societal norms back 200 years or so.

We live in dangerous times and our ignorant president adds to the dangers we face.

Ms Shaw and JC
I was responding to RN's post about a civil war so to accuse me of me of being trollish, I was not. You don't need to apologize because I know you meant no offense.
JC, whatever

As to the civil war part this will continue until DJT is no longer the president because he fuel's the fire. We are not use to a bully for a president but I do not believe his actions are by mistake. He seems to function best within mayhem. I happen to agree with him about tariffs being not equal but his way of getting a different structure is off base. We will see what happens and enjoy the show.
