European press mocks Trump as 'weak,' 'Putin's poodle' after summit

"Weak," a "poodle," and a "stooge:" these were some of the ways European newspapers described President Donald Trump following his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin this week.

On Tuesday, headlines and op-eds in major papers across Europe slammed Trump's decision to side with Putin over his own intelligence agencies on whether Russia meddled in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Many outlets said the summit had made Trump appear craven and outmaneuvered by a more experienced Russian leader whom he was all too eager to befriend.

Spanish newspaper El Mundo ran with the headline "Trump surrenders to Putin after humiliating Europe."

British paper The Mirror branded Trump "Putin’s Poodle."

France’s paper-of-record, Le Monde, opened its editorial on the summit with a single word: "Weak."

The overwhelmingly negative coverage in part reflected a sense in Europe that Trump had spent his week-long trip insulting America’s traditional allies before embracing Russia's authoritarian leader, who is accused even now of running a hostile campaign to undermine stability in European countries and the U.S. Coupled with concerns that the U.S. was turning away from Europe was a certain schadenfreude that a man who has touted himself as a strongman had found himself pandering to Putin in the eyes of many Europeans.

Trump has again managed to make it all about Trump. We can only watch in hopeful anticipation that Helsinki will be the explosive seed that results in his demise.

Why the American Ambassador to Russia and cabinet members have not resigned is a source of puzzlement. Perhaps the only explanation is that any sense of integrity is dead in Republican politics.

Why the party he represents continues to stand behind his sorry ass is the billion dollar question.

Why the legitimate American media couches their criticisms in polite language escapes logic.

Trump is a cancerous abscess growing on America's heart and soul. The question we must answer for ourselves is do we have the WILL to excise this cancer.

Future generations will live with the answer to this question.

It is astounding that #45 said he'd consider having the Russians interrogate our former ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul. It is beyond insane. I really think Trump is a Russian asset. What real US president would consider anything as outrageous as that?

From the Daily Beast: "Current and former American diplomats are expressing disgust and horror over the White House’s willingness to entertain permitting Russian officials to question a prominent former U.S. ambassador.

One serving diplomat, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said he was “at a fucking loss” over comments that can be expected to chill American diplomacy in hostile or authoritarian countries – a comment echoed by former State Department officials as well."

Trump being an actual Russian asset is conjecture and open to debate. However he certainly is giving the strong appearance that he is. To make that judgement though we need concrete irrefutable evidence.

In either case he is a serious threat to our Democratic republic and its honored institutions.

To state the obvious --- He IS The un-American President.

An unwitting asset? IOW, a useful idiot?

😉 Yah, I think so.
