There it is:

CBS News: "Would you sign a national abortion ban?"

Nikki Haley:  "Yes, I am unapologetically pro-life. I have said I am fine with a federal law banning abortion."

For those who don't understand what that means:

Texas resident, Kate Cox, would not have been able to go to a state that allows medical care for pregnancies gone wrong. The State would have forced her to continue to carry a non-viable fetus, thus endangering her ability to ever have children again, and possibly ending her life.

The ten-year old girl in Ohio, who was impregnated by rape, would have been forced by the State to carry the pregnancy to term, instead of going to a state to terminate the pregnancy by rape.

This is what Trumpublicans want for girls and women: Forced births, even if it kills them.

Opps, there goes the enlightened female vote.

Only libs and dems currently lead to light. gop and Tump's MAGA lead only to darkness and tyranny.

Here's her full quote...

"Yes, I'm unapologetically pro-life, but I don't judge anyone for being pro-choice. I've said I'm fine with a federal law. But the thing is, in order to get a federal law, you have to have a majority of the House, 60 senators and a signature of the President. Margaret, we haven't had 60 Republican senators in over 100 years. So no Republican president can ban abortions, any more than a Democrat president can ban any state law. What we can do is let's find consensus. I think we can find consensus to ban late-term abortions. I think we can find consensus to encourage adoptions and good quality adoptions. I think we can find consensus that doctors and nurses who don't believe in abortion shouldn't have to perform them. I think we can find consensus that contraception should be accessible, and I think we should find consensus that any woman who has an abortion, no state law should say she's going to jail or getting the death penalty. I will not demonize this issue. It's too personal. We have to start doing that. Democrats use fear and Republicans use judgment. This is too personal of an issue to use fear or judgment and I won't be a part of any of that."

Correctly, Haley points out that you need 60 Senators to move a bill. But that is only true if we still have the filibuster. The Dems have talked about ending it. As have some GOP leaders. So who's to say a GOP does not eliminate the filibuster?

As for building consensus, or proposing ways to support young parents, encourage and support adoptions, when has the GOP ever proposed the money necessary to do this?

So for all of you who may say Shaw took the quote out of context, here it is. Yes, Haley favors a ban, but she is trying to sound reasonable and hide that ban she'd sign behind the BS permanence of filibuster and dress up adoption support with GOP that has never existed before.

Thanks for posting the entire quote, Dave M.

Haley: "I think we can find consensus to ban late-term abortions."

Why do non-medical politicians keep pretending they're doctors? I understand they HAVE to pander to their uninformed base, but that sort of thing is dangerous and even lethal. Non-medically trained politicians have no business trying to pass laws that are dangerous and lethal to girls and women.

Pregnancy is fraught with all sorts of things that can go wrong, starting with an ectopic pregnancy in the first weeks of pregnancy up to the final trimesters when the fetus or mother or both can run into serious trouble.

I just read of such a case in a recent New Yorker Magazine where a high-risk mother with diabetes and obesity developed preeclampsia and dangerously high blood pressure (240/193. The pregnancy should have been ended, instead, both mother and fetus died. In another time, the young mother's life would have been spared so that she could recover her health and have another child.

As politicians and judges continue to act like medical experts, many more girls, women, and fetuses will die.

How in hell is that pro-life?

And the hypocrisy award for projection goes to, "Democrats use fear and Republicans use judgment".

"STOLLEN Election!"
"Witch hunt!"
"They're coming after you and I'm just standing in their way."
“We pledge to you that we will root out the communists, Marxists, fascists and the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country that lie and steal and cheat on elections. They’ll do anything, whether legally or illegally, to destroy America and to destroy the American Dream.”
"They're poisoning the blood of our country!"
"Open border!"

"They're coming for your guns!!"
"Ban books, not AR-15s!"

She was a poor, young Latino married woman who lived miles away from a hospital that could handle her myriad health problems. She and her husband also had jobs that would not allow them time off to get the health care she needed nor afford it because of insurance problems as well. Time off from work meant no income.

Your comment says a lot about what a privileged, comfortable life you lead that you couldn't even THINK of how other people without your comforts deal with these sorts of desperate situations brought on by religionists, politicians, and judges, not caring a whit about real life tragedies.

You truly live in a bubble, thinking that all anyone has to do to solve their medical emergencies brought on by Dobbs is jump on a plane and SHAZAAM! problem over!

Count yourself lucky that your loved ones will never experience the problem of being poor and having a lethal pregnancy end your life because of state enforced pregnancy laws.

Everyone should reject the thought and belief politicians have to pander to their base (over doing what's right) and simply vote for that. What is truthful, and that which benefits the greatest number.

There are politicians with integrity and decency. Most are not republican. And most they are definitely not Trump's MAGA.

When HaleY and NH Governor Sununu were on ABC's "This Week" after the Texas Supreme Court ruled Kate Cox's pregnancy wasn't a perilous as her medical doctors said it was, this is the answer she gave to the moderator's question:

Q: Kate Cox was forbidden from having an abortion even though her doctor said it might jeopardize her fertility & the fetus was unlikely to survive. Do you disagree?

Haley: Overturning Roe v. Wade was the right thing. I appreciate that TX banned abortion.

Haley is just a different flavor of Trump's authoritarianism. There's really no difference in their anti-girl and women positions on abortion.

PS. Our friend, skudrunner, considers this "going after/attacking Haley. No. It's just reporting her words and her positions.

If that makes her look bad, that's because her positions on these issues ARE bad. But the fact is that she said these things.

Would a proper defense at the outrage of such and act be to tell you to just go to Mexico or Canada to access proper healthcare for members of your Extreme MAGA Jew family?

Of course not.

Who in America tells Americans to leave the country for health care?

No one I personally know, that's for sure, and I have some pretty conservative friends.

Dave M., Dave Dubya

I give props to Nikki Haley for what she's accomplished in her life.

I do understand that to be an appealing pol in the GOP, she would have to abandon her Sikh religion (a combination of Hinduism and Islam) and convert to Christianity; she would have to go by her middle name, Nikki, not her first name, Nimarata; and she would have to pretend that this country was "never a racist country," even though she herself has said how she experienced racism as a child.

That is the tragedy that is the current Republican Party that's been captured by a disgusting, racist, misogynist, liar, cheat, fraud, and sexual assaulter/rapist.

Had Nikki Haley been smart enough to have joined the Democratic Party, her real name and religion would not have been a problem, i.e., Barack Hussein Obama, Hakeem Jeffries, Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, for example didn't have to abandon their names nor their religions to appeal to the Democratic base.

Mark my words, at some point, Nikki Haley will support the Trump who calls her "bird brain," Trump who mocks her first name and calls her, "Nimbra;" and whom his devoted deplorables are now referring to her as"Pocahontas 2.0."

Shaw... you left off Rafael Cruz, born of Cuban descent. In the Dem party, he could've run as Rafa, instead of feeling like in the GOP he had to change his name to Ted...
