"A large reception hall that could serve as a ballroom was added to the old Reich Chancellery during an expansion in the 1930s. This hall, known officially as the Festsaal mit Wintergarten, was completed in 1936. It was designed as a large reception hall for official events and banquets, and was capable of being used as a ballroom."
The National Trust for Historic Preservation warned that President Trump’s planned 90,000-square-foot ballroom would “overwhelm the White House itself,” which spans just 55,000 square feet.
Trump said "hold my beer"... let's do 90,000 sq ft.
Also, here's what WH Press Secretary Leavitt had to say about the project before it began...
“Nothing will be torn down. It [the construction] won't interfere with the current building. It'll be near it but not touching it."
So all you smart guys from MAGA Land, was she lying a al Baghdad Bob? Doing what she was told? What? Because her statement was surely not truthful.
Shaw... I don't expect any real consideration of my question from our resident trolls, you know the ones, those who excoriated Dems for lying in the past. Now they'll conveniently look the other way after selling their souls.
The demolition provides a perfect metaphor for what Trump is doing to the institutional pillars of our democracy: tearing them down with authoritarian hubris, answering to no one as he erects yet another garish monument to himself.
America's Hitler 2.0 is following his mentor's example in erecting monuments to himself. Adolf had architects draw up plans and models of his fantasy city "Germania", to be the Nazi capital of the world.
The comparisons are only growing in number, and won't end until Trump or the US is finished. So far the US is on the losing end.
Now we hear about the purported $400 million of tax payer money President Obama decided to spend, allegedly, on a tennis court.
What's true...
There was a tennis court built during the Obama Administration.
What's not true...
The court did not cost $400 million. Obama personally authorized the changes.
What's also true, but not reported by FOX News...
In addition to the tennis court, new air conditioning, heating, and other improvements to both the West and East Wing were made. Also included were various other infrastructure [think plumbing and electricity] improvements across the White House grounds.
The cost of the entire project was approved by Congress and signed into law by President George W Bush, but carried out by the Obama Admin after all permits and plans were approved.
Did the white house need a larger ball room, yes. One of the richest countries in the world could not seat everyone at an event inside and had to make everyone have to go to a tent and porta potties is embarrassing. I was always under under the impression the WH was a historical structure and as such permission was needed to make any changes. I once owned a residence that was considered historical and to make any changes required months and jumping through hoops to get anything done. It was even worse than dealing with an HOA. I don't know if trump went through the proper channels to get his project approved but rank does have it privilege.

It should be ready by the next Democratic elected president's inauguration... a thousand years from now.

Again, the KSoA following his hero's example.
Written by someone who has the fevered dreams of a Nazi.
It's people like them who keep Trump in power. And we will remind them of that truth when the reckoning comes.
It is eerily so.
Der Goosestep Polka - um pa pa - blow the Trump -ets.
We are officially living in an authoritarian state, brought to us by the weaklings in the Republican Party and John Roberts.
Shaw... weaklings? Isn't that the term MTG used to describe the "men" in her party?

Nazi Jew Joe dreams of a "thousand year Reich", just like his first Nazi idol did.

To our conservative trolls... see the difference?

Ole skud, like ALL MAGAts just doesn't get it. If he (they) does (do) he (they) simply doesn't (don't) give a sh*t.
Skud... the White House is exempt from the HOA process you cited. Trump did nothing illegal on this.
And yes, the White House did need somewhere for larger State dinners.
