This was a pretty accurate assessment of Bondi’s appearance at the Senate’s Oversight Committee hearing yesterday:

BRUCE LINDNER:

Until yesterday, I had always assumed Pam Bondi was just another corrupt sycophant who oozed out of the Florida muck and found herself caught up in the even more corrupt world of Donald Trump.

Boy, was I wrong.

Her performance before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday came as a real revelation to me. Seeing her perform her shtick removed the scales from my eyes.

She’s a pro. A natural-born crook. Rather than being the lone semi-rational one of Trump’s appointees, she’s every bit as corrupt as the man she sat there and lied for for nearly five hours.

Thirty minutes or so into it her appearance before the committee, I posted online; she’s “devious, deceptive, dishonest, manipulative, lying, arrogant, evasive gutter trash.”

Little did I know at that time, those were her more positive attributes. As the hearing dragged on, and she refused to answer even the most innocuous questions, she became more and more belligerent. Virtually every question asked of her by a Democrat was met with a personal insult.

In fact, later in the afternoon, some sharp-eyed reporter got a close look at her hand-written notes, revealing not only the canned response to a specific question, but also a pre-written insult to each particular Senator asking the question. There was one custom-tuned for Richard Blumenthal, one for Dick Durbin, one for Peter Welch, a string of backhanded snark for Amy Klobuchar.

But she saved her best venom for Adam Schiff, who, along with his sharp staff, was having none of it. He fired back at her a list of questions from the panel that she had up to that point, refused to answer. That’s when her composure started to crack.

During an exchange with Peter Welch about Tom Homan accepting a $50,000 bribe from undercover FBI agents last year, things got particularly testy:

Senator Welch: "First of all, is there a tape that has audio and video of the transfer of the $50,000?”

Bondi: "You would have to talk to Director Patel about that.”

Welch: "No, I'm talking to you.”

Bondi: "I don't know the answer.”

Welch: “You do know the answer."

Bondi: "Don't call me a liar!"

Such a lovely person. She has all the charm of a cobra, the same dedication to ‘truth and justice’ as the crook who appointed her, and she’s the chief law enforcement officer of the land.

In her defense, if she WASN’T as vile, as corrupt, as offensive as she displayed to the world yesterday, she would be of no use to Donald Trump. Her poisonous persona and skills at evasion and insult is her secret sauce.

Just like her boss.

I’m sure he gave her two thumbs up after her appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday.
