I don't know this man's work, but his words ring true today:
I’m struggling to find words today—but silence isn’t an option.
When racist imagery comparing Black people to apes is circulated and amplified by those with the President of the United States it’s not just offensive—it’s dangerous. This isn’t coming from the shadows of the internet; it’s being normalized at the highest levels of public life. And that should alarm every person of conscience.
Barack Obama and Michelle Obama represent what is best in this country: intelligence, discipline, integrity, public service, love for humanity, and commitment to the common good. They are patriots. They are leaders. They are builders.
Racist dehumanization—no matter who shares it—has a long, violent history in America. When it’s excused, minimized, or defended because of political loyalty, we’re no longer talking about policy disagreements. We’re talking about moral failure.

Racists: Inhuman and ignorant white people petrified their former assured position of white privilege is being steadily and rightfully pulled out from underneath them. Terrified they are tripling down on their racism. Trump and his horde of MAGA racists top the list.
Calling Trump a White Supremacist and depicting him as a Klansman isn't "racist imagery"? I guess not, since it happens regularly in Progressive media like the NY Times.
But I suppose racist imagery is only bad if blacks are depicted negatively.
The white guilt-pride double standard. Not race non-essentialism, but race essentialism on steroids.
NY Times Opinion
Thanks for confirming your own proclivities. Much appreciated.
We understand your discomfort.
Yes. See a MAGA’s typical reaction below. It’s all about his shock at how the NYTimes treated Trump in a cartoon, and absolutely nothing about Trump’s racist post about the Obamas.
The good news is that -FJ and his fellow sailors on the Mother Ship are a distinct minority in defending what Trump did. Normal human beings are outraged. They instead are worried about Trump‘s hurt feelings.
Mirrors reflect even Racists that are in denial.
...and as a race non-essentialist, I understand your "race is essential" double standard and its' motivation.
As a MAGA, you express your alignment with and admiration for racists quite well.
Depicting African-Americans as apes is/was common among Ku Klux Klan men and women. It’s a racist trope that’s been used for centuries by racists to dehumanize Black people. Is it fair to depict Trump as a klansman after he posted images of the Obamas as apes on his Truth Social? Maybe not. But he brought humiliation and outrage on himself when he did that.
If the hood fits, wear it, Donald.
PS, Isn’t it curious that you didn’t come here to express outrage at what Trump did when he posted that racist meme that dehumanized the Obamas, but only came here to whine about depicting Trump as a Klansman. Your injured sensibilities are duly noted
-FJ making America great by attempting (with all MAGAts) to make racism as acceptable as it was considered in 1860 in the deep south. Hence the Civil. War
