It is true that A nation divided against itself cannot stand.
Trump, with his narcissistic personality and basic ignorance has highlighted, and further fueled the divisions already existing in American society.
This nation, once part of the British Colonial Empire, is being torn apart by the same ignorance and greed that ultimately ends all powerful nation states.
When the ruling class, always the wealthy, as wealth beget power, begins to fear they are losing control of the narative and sense power slipping from their greedy fingers they exacerbate division as they look to find scapegoast to blame for all the problems they themselves have created.
It worked for Hitler and his Nazis party following the end of WW 1. And now America has a fascist leaning ruler who studied the Nazi playbook well and has successfully rebranded the Republican party using the playbook that worked well for the Third Reich's.
America's inherent racism and the corporate greed fueled by America's predominantly white capitalisti oligarchs has created such income and wealth inequality America has become a pressure cooker. And before too long the top will blow off and the Suffering will be spread far and wide.
There is SO much more could be said. For the symptoms of decline are not few, but many. At the very top of decline stands Donald Trump and the rebranded Republican Party who supports Trump's galloping insanity.
So yeah. I agree with the quote. And am growing tired after 11 years of stating it. This nation made its own bed and now it pays the price of its ignorance and delusions.

Trump was placed in office to take a stand against decades of political corruption. People believed that by placing a non professional politician in office would be better. Like a professional politician he made promises he couldn't keep, drain the swamp, combat waste, deport illegals. It is impossible to clean up a hundred years of corruption in eight years. Then you throw in narcissism and bloated ego and that makes the matter impossible.
Les believes the rich controlling the country is a recent trend. As much as he hates the rich they have controlled every country for hundreds of years. What has been the strength of the US is we had a middle class but that is diminishing and we are behaving like a two class system.
It is the peoples fault because we don't demand better rulers and demand they work for WeThePeople. The left blames the right and the right blames the left and the middle gets the shaft.
In the minds of racists and authoritarian fascists perhaps. But history knows exactly how all of that turns out. Multiple times.
As -FJ and the cult of MAGA waltz down that path with Fuhrer Trump once again.
You actually think a man who's been crooked all his life (there is a magnum amount of evidence that is available for you. Use the internet.); who's a convicted felon, adjudicated SA; who spent years partying with America's most notorious pedophiles, Epstein & Maxwell; a man who is in the Epstein files over a million times and has been credibly accused of pedophilia himself; a man who doesn't know the meanings of fidelity, loyalty, decency, and honesty is the emetic?
He's actually the PRODUCT of what happens when an emetic is used on a sick patient.
For you and other MAGAs to continue to believe Trump is anything but a malignant narcissist, pathological liar, and criminal is evidence of mass delusion.
Trump is now polling at 35% approval. A majority of Americans do not approve of him nor his policies. The civil world detests him. Even Republicans now are running away from him as every sane, non-cultist human being has, except those whose entire psychological ethos (MAGA) is tied to a damaged human being for reasons even they can't understand.
Trump is not the emetic; he's the malady.

Following the Fuhrer Trump insures the tyranny of the powerful wealthy minority continues. And the ignorance of many Americans, who have swallowed Fuhrer Trunp's BS and lies, will insure the continuation of the lie wealthy authoritarian capitalists have sold Americans for decades.
Ignorance is bliss. Until it's not.
I agree with the statement as presented by Shaw and (oddly enough) with -FJ and here is why:
1. The USA has never lived up to the promises as detailed in our Constitution and Bill of Rights. Never in our history has liberty for all meant every person in this country. That's something WeThePeople need to fix.
2. I've taken a look at the lawz on the books and, well, let's just say the racism is a feature not a bug. This needs to be fixed too.
3. As noted by our trolls Trump came to save our country, which he will end up doing but not in the way they believe it will happen. See, united against someone is still united as evidenced by the actions taken by our former allies. By insulting and bullying them Trump pushed them into creating their own unions across traditional allied lines.
4. Our trolls and the MAGAt's in the world underestimate the power of the Trump-Epstein files on the general population of the world. For decades families have been destroyed by the disappearance of their children and the failure of law enforcement to find neither the child nor those who took them. With the files we find out the fate of many of those kids and why the crime of their death was never pursued. Imagine, all the rumors, all the innuendo from law enforcement suddenly make sense. How would you feel knowing your child was tortured to death as a party favor for rich men? I know my feelings and "just taking it" isn't even on the list. Ignore this movement for justice at your own peril as those who do not side with the survivors will be viewed as sympathetic to the perpetrators. No grey on this one folks.
5. Regarding how Trump is going to heal the world I have to tell you the tale from the time of when penicillin was just orange peel mold. Humans out in the west has a treatment for croup aka strep throat which honestly was an horrible method of healing but the healer would tie a stout string around a prickly pod (milkweed or prickly pear cactus) and get the patient attempt to swallow it. When it was stuck in the throat the healer would give the string a sharp pull to yank out the pod and the resulting infection.
Yeah. Most people didn't survive the treatment but as the disease was going to kill you anyway folks did what they had to do. Some survived, specifically one of the gents who started Bents Old Fort in southeastern Colorado which is where I learned this story. I know, ICK!!!!!! But if it was stupid but it worked it wasn't stupid.
The infection in my mind are American people who are fine with the idea of slavery, White Supremacy, and Theocratic Rule controlling the levers of power. I view Trump as the pod shoved down our throats and WeThePeople just need to yeet him out of there.
Trump will heal us of this infection, of that I have no doubt. It's just not what he intends to do which is going to make our victory all the more sweet.

In case you didn't know it, Trump is the most corrupt and criminal president in history.
Also racist white conservatives and corrupt greedheads on the Right have ALWAYS sided with the rich oligarchs against Constitutional regulation of commerce, Constitutional taxes on the rich, Constitutional provision for the general welfare, as well as our ideals of democracy and equality.
If not for Citizens United, unconstitutional "presidential immunity" and the poison pills against democracy in our Constitution, the Senate and electoral system, the rich would have far less influence.
There's no "both sides" about it.

I don't know where skud gets his information, but it is apparent he missed this concerning climate change:

Obviously written by one of those moan-groan-doom-gloom types who gets off on being performatively cynical. There is no value at all in anything such people say. Platforming them makes the left look like tiresome America-bashers, repels mainstream voters, and discourages action about the real problem by making it look too huge to deal with.
America is a deeply flawed republic with antidemocratic rules in both our Constitution and fabricated by the Supreme Court. The anti-democratic unrepresentative Senate, the Electoral College, Corporate personhood, unelected lifetime judges, and presidential immunity should deeply concern every American. Diagnosing our condition is not "America bashing". It demands addressing or will only get far worse.
If "mainstream voters" can't handle reality, they shouldn't vote. The ICE murders are waking some of them up. And damn right that's "woke" from its original meaning. Be woke to racist police brutality.
