I just finished watching the debate (I tivo'd it) and I'm very impressed by Kaine. He slapped Pence around with facts and left the smary weasel Pence nearly bawling like a baby. Kaine told the truth on each issue and, of course, the Republiscumbag lied on each issue. Anyone shocked? :)

OT from LP:

"Trump has succeeded in overperforming among a certain slice of white voters, those without a college degree. But overall, the strategy isn’t working. Trump has a smaller lead among white voters than Mitt Romney did in 2012, and Trump’s margin seems to be falling from where it was when the general election began."

Blueballs,

You must have watched a different debate than the one on last night. Both of the debaters were horrible but the moderator didn't do a very good job of keeping them on task.

Due to the age of trump and the physical condition of -H-, the running mates do matter in this election more so than previous.

The sad part about the debate is how many questions neither candidate answered.

"Due to the age of trump and the physical condition of -H-,..."

The physical condition of Hillary? You mean the fact that she's physically a woman?

And?

Following last night’s vice-presidential debate, Democratic VP nominee Tim Kaine got rave reviews from fact checkers, earning a “true” rating on 15 out of his 19 rated statements (79%). Meanwhile, Trump’s VP nominee only rated 4 factual statements out of 13 reviewed claims by Politifact which debunked nine big “false” statements from the Indiana Governor (31%).

Even the neutral fact-checkers observed how carefully the Republican Pence avoided defending any of his running mate Trump’s nightmarish racism that generated so many true claims from Kaine about why Donald Trump “scares the hell out of all of us:”

Rudy Giuliani says Trump "better for the United States than a woman"... exact quote.

He also said, re Trump and his many marriages (as well as Rudy's many marriages), all of which ended (those that have ended) due to infidelity, "well, everybody does". He said this also to defend Trump saying "I don't even think she's loyal to Bill, if you want to know the truth. And really folks, really, why should she be?".

These are the Right's REAL "family values".

Pence flat out lied re his "defense" of Trump. He did a good job of it, however. Probably why the Right thinks he "won" the debate. But he's a polished Republican politician (experienced at lying to the public), unlike Trump. Trump lies, he's just not as polished as Pence. Although, remember that's what Trump voters say they like about him (he's not a politician).

No Skidmark, I watched the one and only VP debate and I stand behind my earlier comments 100%. Keep up, okay?

Trump and Pence are two peas in a pod. Neither one has any concern for the truth.

Dervish, yeah. The family values party admires serial adulterers. They have no problem with them. But Hillary worked through her marital troubles and kept her marital vows. That's why I have no respect for the phony "Christian Values" TeaPublicans. President Obama is a faithful loving husband and father and Hillary kept her marriage vows, and those "Christians" support serial adulterers like Trump, Gingrich, Giuliani, and Limbaugh. It's sickening. They deserve nothing but contempt.

Kaine Is a good person. His debate performance would have been higher scored by me if I had heard it on radio. His faces and contortions were troubling.

I know a lot of regular readers here are spiritual and not necessarily religious. You might find this article interesting.

As for _you_ Shaw Kenawe: loves and kisses, bay-bee!

Skud,

I have to agree with you on a couple of points, but question your perspective on others. Yes, it was really criminal the way that both men ignored the questions proffered by the moderator. Barring a squelch button or a bailiff, I'm not sure what you mean that she failed to control their responses. They are both chauvinist pigs and opportunists. God forbid Hillary has to step down.

Hillary's health? You're participating in the smear campaign. You probably watched the video of her stumbling and shook your head whilst clucking your tongue.

Young presidents are the exception. There have been TR, JFK, WJC and BHO. That's less than 10%. But remember the truly great leaders. Even FDR took the oath just days before his fifty-first birthday. He was almost completely paraplegic from polio. Eisenhower was almost sixty-three when he took office, suffering from Crohn's Disease. Yet he lived eight years after his second term ended. Winston Churchill was 77 when he became the prime minister of Great Britain for the second time in 1951. He lived fourteen more years, writing a multi-volume autobiography and memoir. Supreme Court justices often keep working well into their eighties.

I think Hillary is going to be just fine. But if she chooses not to seek a second term due to her health, she still will have been the first woman to be elected POTUS.

From Greg Sargent of the Washington Post:

During the debate, by my count, Tim Kaine reminded the national audience of Trump’s attacks on Mexican immigrants no less than five times. He revived Trump’s attacks on a Mexican-American judge twice. He criticized Trump’s misogynistic quotes twice and quoted Trump’s suggestion that women should be punished for abortions once. He blasted Trump’s birtherism three times, in one case flatly describing it as bigoted. And he aired Trump’s plans for mass deportations five times. All of that, of course, was designed to remind everyone of Trump’s sexism, bigotry, racist campaign, and cruel, pathologically abusive streak. Kaine also revived Trump’s displays of ignorance about international affairs and his quotes about nuclear weapons and Vladimir Putin to press the case that Trump is dangerously unhinged and unfit for the presidency.

It’s been widely observed that Pence either refused to defend many of Trump’s statements or simply pretended he hadn’t said them. This is being widely analyzed by Clinton supporters as proof that you can’t defend the indefensible and by neutral observers as a sign that Pence didn’t help Trump as much as he might have done.

But I think this gets at something else that’s important: it shows, in a roundabout way, how and why Trump may be currently on track to losing the election.

Shaw Kenawe: Tim Kaine reminded the national audience of Trump's attacks on Mexican immigrants...

Portland man buys thatmexicanthing.com, redirects to Hillary Clinton website (article excerpt) Danilo Alfaro jumped on GoDaddy.com... grabbed up thatmexicanthing.com for a modest sum and redirected the site to a donation page on Hillary Clinton's website. After that, he didn't give it much thought... until he got a message from a campaign staffer who thanked him for snatching up the site name before anyone else could.

Flying Junior: They are both chauvinist pigs and opportunists.

Tim Kaine a chauvinist? I don't know there is any evidence to support that charge. Anyway, it's a "fact" that Tim Kaine will be president when Hillary dies. Which will likely be in late Jan/early Feb 2017. After Hillary wins due to "election fraud", "stealing" the election from the "rightful" winner, Donald Trump.
