The chaos and instability of the Trump administration continues with SoS Rex Tillerson's departure and CIA director, Mike Pompeo, moving into the role.
President Donald Trump ousted his secretary of state, Rex Tillerson.
Tillerson had faced reports of tension between him and the president for months.
President Donald Trump has asked Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to leave his post, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.
CIA Director Mike Pompeo will replace him.
Trump reportedly asked Tillerson to step down on Friday. Trump confirmed the news in a tweet Tuesday. Tillerson was on a diplomatic trip in Africa.
Tillerson had faced reports of tension between him and Trump for months, and repeatedly denied that he was leaving his job.
But this could be one of the reasons Tillerson was booted. Trump doesn't like people who criticize his Russian pals and enablers.
And this tweet:
Omg. A State Dept official says Tillerson learned he was fired from Trump's tweet, per @CNN
And this:
"President Donald Trump’s personal assistant, John McEntee, was fired on Monday because of an unspecified security issues, according to administration officials who spoke with the Wall Street Journal.
McEntee was reportedly escorted out of the White House without being given time to collect his personal belongings, including his jacket, officials told WSJ. The White House declined to comment on the Journal’s questions about the firing."
UPDATE:
"Washington (CNN)Hours after his boss, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, was ousted Steve Goldstein, the under secretary of public affairs at the State Department has been fired by the White House.
Goldstein publicly contradicted the White House account of how Tillerson was fired on Tuesday morning. Goldstein said Tillerson was officially notified he'd been fired from a tweet from President Donald Trump on Tuesday morning, and in a statement, said Tillerson had "every intention of remaining."

From a guy who called Trump a moron, the book should be interesting.
Shrugging. tRump continues to operate as tRump always has. As the faithful continue to admire his methods.
It has occurred to me, several times over, that the time is neigh to turn off the noise by chucking the cell phone, closing social media accounts, unplugging the TV, and cancelling newspaper subscriptions, both electronic and paper. Thus gaining full control of your life. The ONLY thing one can control.
Just in time for talks with North Korea. What a sideshow.
And again Trump fires someone who's out of town. Bloody coward.
Trump's staff is starting to get weary as he continues to point at things around him and shouting "You're Fired!"
BREAKING NEWS
Trump has fired his long trusted lamp.
As each day passes, I come more and more to the conclusion that Trump really doesn't consider the Presidency to be anything more than a starring role in his latest "reality" show.
It's as if he's combined Survivor, Big Brother, and The Apprentice, and is running the show out of the Oval Office. Constant changes and deals, constant watching, and weekly firings. Sheesh.
Obviously, the wrong person is leaving!
And again Trump fires someone who's out of town. Bloody coward.
Yes, it sounds just like the firing of Comey.
So, President Stable Genius is supposed to meet with Kim Jong Un (who's looking more stable by comparison). He has no ambassador to South Korea and now no Secretary of State. If I actually thought there was any chance that there was going to be a meeting, I'd say it should go well.
Trump said he wanted a different team on board for the North Korea talks. Look, it's no secret Trump and Tillerson inhabited different planets, but let's no mourn the loss of Rex. The guy was terrible, overseeing the almost literal dismantling of the State Department amidst a constant steam of resignations by senior and longtime career non partisan diplomats.
I'm sure that reorganization will continue under Pompeo but at least trump will know his Sec State has his back, will be his lackey and won't call him a moron in public meetings.
Shaw... make sure you add the Spokesperson for ICE to the tally of Trump Admin resignations.
Here's what James Schwab said as he left... "I quit because I didn't want to perpetuate misleading facts, I asked them to change the information. I told them that the information was wrong, they asked me to deflect, and I didn't agree with that. Then I took some time and I quit."
Schwab has more integrity than most in that Admin and certainly the legion of bloggers who trade in "False Facts" to prove their points...
Is there a connection between Tillerson's condemning the Russian poisoning of people in Britain and his getting canned by the POTUS? I mean, Tillerson did go after Russia and Trump needs to preserve, protect, and defend Putin no matter what.
One day after Tillerson expresses concern about the poisonings in Britain, POOF! He's gone. Putin pulled the puppet strings once again.
Trump: A more pathetic spectacle of clumsy, incompetent, self-centered, insensitive, desperately mendacious, sheer STUPIDITY could hardly be found, –– unless you want to think of his supporters –– something I try to avoid as much as possible.
Wow! This place has been busy!
Yes,Dave, I imagine Tillerson will have a lot to say about his now former boss, the guy he called a "f***ing moron." Little correction there.
RN, I've lost count of how many Trump people got canned today: Tillerson, McEntee, and the spokesperson for ICE. Just today.
Ducky, experts on foreign policy agree that Tillerson will go down as one of the worst SoS in American history. He accomplished nothing while in office. And remember that Lord Dampnut hires only the best of the rotten!
KanaWWe all know that Trump is a weakling and a coward. Not surprising he'd fire his SoS via a Tweet and while the man was out of the country. You nailed it when you described Trump's administration as more of a reality show than a serious organization running the country. Trump and his people are running the country into the ground.
Jerry, Yes, the wrong person is still in the WH. But have patience. Mueller is still working.
Kevin, President Stable Chaos? It is as oxymoronic as "President" Trump. He is a coward for not being able to face Tillerson and do the dirty deed in person. Most bullies are cowards.
Dave, yes, Tillerson was an awful SoS, but remember how Trump bragged about having only the best people? How many have been fired, resigned, or indicted? I've lost count. We knew Trump was a con artist, and the chaotic, shambolic White House proves he doesn't know what the hell he's doing. Remember when he said that about the Obama administration, which now looks like an organization of geniuses compared with what Trump has served up to the American people.
Trump is a fraud; and he's proved it with this horrible administration and his horrible executive skills. What did we expect from a guy who is a failed businessman?
Bob, It sure does seem likek there's a connection. Trump has NEVER said an unkind word about his mentor and puppeteer, Putin. Tillerson did; Tillerson's out!
Ray See my comment to Bob D. Yes, it difficult not to see the connection.
D.D. Very funny. Don't we all try to avoid the group of people who inflicted the disaster that is Trump on us all.
I am surprised he lasted as long as he did. It took far less time to fire McChrystal for just calling the president incompetent. Maybe he is setting a trend by firing someone via Twitter, that is really cowardly but so is trump.
Now is not a matter if he will fulfill his term but how many months he will fall short. I give him until this time next year then we will have our own Ayatollah Pence.
We do live in interesting times.
skud, Re: your snide remark about McChrystal undermining the CiC:
Lt. Col. Paul Yingling became a military folk hero when he called out his superior officers during the darkest days of the Iraq war. Now, he's got some choice words for Gen. Stanley McChrystal and his team, after their beyond-inflammatory remarks to Rolling Stone. Yingling, a professor at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies,* said:
'Commanders who indulge in sloppy, tough guy, cowboy lingo - "smackdown, scumbags," etc. tend to run sloppy, tough guy, cowboy operations. Units, and especially staffs, tend to adopt the language and demeanor of their commander.
Commanders of large formations can't possibly police every comment by every soldier and staff officer. However, as General Petraeus often says, it's important for senior leaders to set the right tone."
McChrystal apologized for the Rollingstone article before it has even come out. He says in a statement: "I extend my sincerest apology for this profile. It was a mistake reflecting poor judgment and should never have happened. Throughout my career, I have lived by the principles of personal honor and professional integrity. What is reflected in this article falls far short of that standard. I have enormous respect and admiration for President Obama and his national security team, and for the civilian leaders and troops fighting this war and I remain committed to ensuring its successful outcome."
To publicly call your Commander-in-Chief "incompetent" in a magazine while fighting the enemy is insubordination. Had a liberal general done that to a conservative president, your head would have exploded with rage.
Thanks for agreeing with me on McChrystal firing. Never tell the emperor he has no clothes no matter who the emperor is. I think Tillerson apologized for what he said but the damage is done, hurt egos are hard to heal.
There seems to be a trend with SecState because the last three have accomplished little to nothing. Unfortunately they are becoming fodder for the reining king and have no real authority to accomplish anything. I thought Tillerson could actually get something done but it didn't turn out that way.
Like I said I am surprised Tillerson lasted this long. Now will it be Sessions or DeVos the next to be terminated via Tweet?
skud, I don't know if you served in the military, but you should know that it is insubordination, while fighting an enemy, to criticize your Commander-in-Chief. That's a fireable offense. So NO, I did not agree with you. McChrystal was a grandstanding glory seeker and Mr. Obama was well within his right as the CiC in getting rid of the little actress.
BTW, the last three SoS accomplished nothing? What did Condolezza Rice accomplish?
Usually SoSs don't effect huge changes, but rather they work on agreements and other deplomatic actions.
Also announced recently: The House sham investigation into Trump/Russia collusion is over, and SURPRISE, Trump has been cleared. No collusion. Also, Putin didn't want Trump to win. Right.
Dervish is that what the loons over at WYD are saying?
Shaw... they’re strangely quiet on anything they would’ve slashed Obama for that comes out of the Trump Admin.
When the news is really bad the Mother Ship pretends it doesnt exist and posts humorous asides.
House Republicans say investigation found no evidence of Russia-Trump collusion. "House Republicans investigating foreign interference in the 2016 election say they have found no evidence that Russians colluded with any members of the Trump campaign and dispute a key finding from the intelligence community that Russia had developed a preference for the Republican nominee during the election".

Dave, they have a problem with reality, always have. The fact that they believe trump is a fabulous preznit is proof that they live in an alternate reality believing in alternative facts. The cannot face the truth; it's too horrible even for them.
Dervish, yes we've all seen that "fake" House "Intelligence" Committee report. They did not call as witnesses key people in the investigation, and they accepted trump aadministration folks who took the 5th. IOW, their finding is worthless, just like the president.
Everyone with any intelligence understands that -- so that leaves out Trumpistas who think the finding of the "Intelligence" Committee is final. No.
Mueller's investigation will be final.
Meanwhile, Trump's supposed "strong" influence on getting GOPers elected is swirling around the toilet drain. It failed, again, in deep, deep red Pennsylvania House district #18.
My comment from WYD, in response to one by Klansman Shackelford trumpeting the sham House investigation findings...
What I was expecting from the House sham investigation. Although I thought they might "find" that Hillary colluded and recommend she be charged. That's in addition to the charges they recommended against Christopher Steele. Whatever happened with their "referral" to DOJ? Maybe the CIA will just have him assassinated. LOL.
"Maybe" is a link to a comment (on my new anti-WYD blog "Whoz Yo Mama!") by #trumpdupe Minus FJ in which he says Christopher Steele is going to spend the rest of his life looking over his soldier because the CIA is going to send a rendition team to either (1) extract him and deliver him to the US for trial or (2) assassinate him (he refers to "hard kills" versus "soft kills").
I agree that Obama had every right to fire whom ever he wanted and the military works for the commander n chief. It is OK for obama to fire someone who calls him out but not for trump. That is kind of hypercritical isn't it just like the comment about rice was racist if it had been about obama.
Trump is out of control and needs to go. I have worked for some slime balls in the past but at least when they terminated someone they did it face to face. His latest escapade shows lack of leadership and lack of dignity. He has no clue how the world economy works and will not listen to anyone to have it explained. Tariffs on steel is a terrible idea and shows how little he knows.
Trump is bad but can you just imagine how horrible -H- would have been only we wouldn't know. The media would have kept it her mistakes on the back page much as they did bho. I know he was a saint unless you look at his record and see things differently or unless you were a special interest group or rich.
