General John Kelly: "He said that, in his opinion, Mr. Trump met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator if allowed, and had no understanding of the Constitution or the concept of rule of law."

YOUR SUNDAY MOMENT OF ZEN

"The first step in a fascist movement is the combination under an energetic leader of a number of men who possess more than the average share of leisure, brutality, and stupidity.

The next step is to fascinate fools and muzzle the intelligent, by emotional excitement on the one hand and terrorism on the other."--Bertrand Russell

...whereas a wise patriot would never even think, let alone believe, that their own government bureaucrats or some self-serving powerful office holders ensconced within it might seek increased powers and deceive them. THAT has never, in the entire history of the world, ever happened!

It was the most secure election in history... never mind the mail-in ballots. Believe your bureaucrats...

Nor would a wise patriot believe the siren song of a narcissistic charlatan like Trump -fj. He loves the uneducated and gullible. I'll leave it right there.

Well Les, given the partisan behaviour of the Biden Administration, Putin gets better and better looking in comparison, daily.

Government in and of itself is not a living thing. It is a tool by which us humans, barbarians to the last, use to ensure we avoid extinction.

"A government is a body of people, usually notably ungoverned." — Shepherd Book, Firefly.

Our multifaced troll suggests, incorrectly, that it is wise to shout No! at the top of their lungs to any and all authority. Except theirs, of course. And therein lies the rub.

I'm going to paint with a wide brush here. I understand a finer focus illuminates all the "not all" examples covered by such a wide take but I'm tired, I hurt, and the finer focus just isn't in me here/now.

In my experience fans of authoritarian regimes inevitably assume (to a person) that they will somehow be in the inner circle, part of the ruling elite therefore all the horrible side effects of fascism, dictators, or theocracy won't touch them. They consider themselves above the fray.

Democratic rule demands we all pitch in. So many humans want a flash point as to when things started to fall apart. I say it was when Civics classes ended. No one was reminded of the sacrifices those whose shoulders we stand on made so we have the shoulders to stand on that we do. And again, Democracy demands we all do our part. No two humans are the same so no two contributions are the same.

For me this isn't having to learn English grammar (failed it three times!!! Not sure if I should be proud or ashamed. Thank Webster for Google!). I'm not clear as to why it's so hard for my fellow citizens to see what I see.

Anyway, our troll thinks they are clever, taking shots from one side and then dancing over to another side to sling their barbs again. One cat in the room, that's all I'm asking. Two or three leaps of of their attempted logic and the troll will be down and out. Well, metaphorically speaking (good kitty, sweet kitty, nice kitty, purr purr purr)

Hmm. "Some self-serving powerful office holders... might seek increased powers and deceive them."

Like this?

“If a president is afraid to act because they’re worried about being indicted when they leave office — a president of the United States has to have immunity."

Gosh. Who could THAT be?

Please feel free to leave America and live there. Y'know where the police are rounding up and arresting people for acknowledging the death of Navalny.

And before you liken that to what happened on J6, I'll remind you that Trump wanted his vice president to STOP THE CERTIFICATION OF THE ELECTORAL VOTES SO THAT HE COULD INTERRUPT THE COUNT AND SEIZE POWER, JUST LIKE A PUTIN WOULD DO.

It is crystal clear to normal Americans how you and MAGAs admire Putin the butcher and murderer of his political opponents.

Show us where ANY US president, including Biden, has poisoned or murdered his political opponents.

Then sit down.

Putin's Kremlin Agent: "Doubt the result? HERESY!!!"

For Putin's Kremlin Agent: Lie about the result? Fascism.

Trump's own Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency:

https://www.cisa.gov/news-events/news/joint-statement-elections-infrastructure-government-coordinating-council-election

“There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes or was in any way compromised.”

Director, Chris Krebs tweeted: 59 election security experts all agree, 'in every case of which we are aware, these claims (of fraud) either have been unsubstantiated or are technically incoherent.'

He also said the 2020 election was "the most secure election in American history."

So Trump FIRED HIM.

Election workers are not bureaucrats. They are patriotic volunteers.

So what did -FJ's fascist racists Trump and Giuliani say about black women poll workers?

Giuliani falsely claimed that video footage showed Freeman and Moss engaging in "surreptitious illegal activity" and acting suspiciously, like drug dealers "passing out dope."

In early January 2021, Trump named Freeman 18 times during a phone call in which he tried to convince Georgia officials to change the state's results—a call that is at the center of the fraud trial.

During the call, he referred to Freeman as a "professional vote scammer," a "hustler" and a "known political operative" who "stuffed the ballot boxes."

Kremlin agent -FJ is equally vile in abetting this racist fascism.

In case he missed it:

By all counts, recounts, certifications, courts, and audits:
BIDEN 51.3%
81,283,361 Popular votes
306 Electoral votes

TRUMP 46.8%
74,222,960 Popular votes
232 Electoral votes

-FJ is a conspiracist who backs up his claims with nothing. He's been wrong about all of his fraud claims around the 2020 election. Wrong. Consistently.

Being wrong and having no evidence to back up his assertions and conspiracies proves to him that there was a Deep State that stole the election from the abused and honorable Trump.

No amount of evidence will EVER move him away from his Deep State claims.

Shaw,
He's willfully wrong and deliberately dishonest, as in an authoritarian sociopath and fascist.

-FJ truly is a willing Kremlin agent, by ANY measure. He's just another Mike Flynn, Roger Stone, Alex Jones, etc. IF he's indeed an American citizen, which is highly doubtful.

So are Trump and his cult, wittingly or unwittingly. They serve Putin's interests over America's.

Trump wanted his vice president to STOP THE CERTIFICATION OF THE ELECTORAL VOTES SO THAT HE COULD INTERRUPT THE COUNT AND SEIZE POWER, JUST LIKE A PUTIN WOULD DO.

...but Nancy declared an "emergency" to make sure that no questioning of "electors qualifications" could ever be performed. So who's the "tyrant" again? Who performed the coup?

Shaw Kenawe said...

-FJ did not back that assertion up.

Here how the Texas Tribune reported it:

"To those who wreaked havoc in our Capitol today, you did not win," Vice President Michael Pence said of the protesters, as the proceedings resumed. "Violence never wins. Freedom wins. And this is still the people’s house. And as we reconvene in this chamber, the world will again witness the resilience and strength of our democracy ... Let's get back to work."

The violent disruption caused Congress to abandon the ceremonial counting of the electoral votes, which was being done to formalize President-elect Joe Biden's victory over Trump. Many members were forced to shelter in place.

But by evening, congressional leaders said they were committed to completing the work of certifying Biden's victory. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she consulted with Vice President Mike Pence and military and law enforcement officials, and decided to reconvene Wednesday night. Texas' senior senator, John Cornyn, reportedly told reporters that the Senate also planned to convene.

"The Capitol building has been breached and both chambers are locked down," U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar, D-El Paso, said on Twitter soon after the breach. "This is the chaos and lawlessness @realDonaldTrump has created."

Before the chaos began, a number of Texas Republicans in the U.S. House had voiced their intent to object to the certification, citing baseless allegations of widespread voter fraud. On Saturday, Cruz led a band of Senate Republicans who said they would object to Wednesday's proceedings and instead launch "an emergency 10-day audit of the election returns in the disputed states."

[skip]

MITCH MC CONNELL: "Nothing before us proves illegality anywhere near the massive scale, the massive scale, that would have tipped the entire election," he added. "Nor can public doubt alone justify a radical break when the doubt itself was incited without any evidence. The Constitution gives us here in Congress a limited role. We cannot simply declare ourselves a national board of elections on steroids. The voters, the courts and the states have all spoken. They've all spoken. If we overrule them, it would damage our republic forever. This election actually was not unusually close."

-FJ, still trying to pass off the Big Lie because he and his fellow conspiracists cannot face the painful truth that Trump lied to them and that they are cultists in a Fools' Cult.

Did Nancy Pelosi adjourn the session without settling the question of Electors or not?

How does the Congressional Record for J6 read?

Shaw Kenawe said...

The proceedings were interrupted on January 6 when supporters of President Donald Trump (R) breached the Capitol and the building went into lockdown. After the Capitol was secured, Congress reconvened after 8 p.m. ET to continue with the count.

During the session, one member each from the U.S. House and U.S. Senate could submit a written objection after the body read the vote count from a particular state or the District of Columbia. The two chambers of Congress would separate for debate for up to two hours before voting by a simple majority to concur with or reject the objection.

Members submitted objections for six states. Two objections were formally presented by a Senate and House member:

Arizona: The Senate voted against sustaining the objection to Arizona's electoral votes by a vote of 6-93. The House voted against sustaining this objection by a vote of 121-303.
Pennsylvania: The Senate voted against sustaining the objection to Pennsylvania's electoral votes by a vote of 7-92. The House voted against sustaining the objection by a vote of 138-282.
Four states were counted following incomplete objections presented by a U.S. House member without a U.S. senator:

Georgia
Michigan
Nevada
Wisconsin

Senate
The Senate voted against sustaining an objection to Arizona's electors by a vote of 6-93. Six Republicans voted in agreement with the objection:

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas)
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.)
Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.)
Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.)
Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.
Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.)

House
The House voted against sustaining an objection to Arizona's electors by a vote of 121-303. All 121 congressmen in support of the objection were Republicans.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) privately called on his fellow Republican senators not to object to the election results in December 2020, according to Politico and The Wall Street Journal.[4][5]

Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Penn.) responded to the opposing group's intention in a statement on January 2, 2021: "The senators justify their intent by observing that there have been many allegations of fraud. But allegations of fraud by a losing campaign cannot justify overturning an election. They fail to acknowledge that these allegations have been adjudicated in courtrooms across America and were found to be unsupported by evidence."

Shaw Kenawe said...

At least 140 House Republicans also planned to oppose counting the electoral votes.

Following the breach of the Capitol Building, several Republicans withdrew their objections. No senators joined objections to the electoral votes from Georgia, Michigan, and Nevada, as had been planned.[8]

Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) said on the Senate floor, "When I arrived in Washington this morning, I fully intended to object to the certification of the electoral votes. However, the events that have transpired today have forced me to reconsider and I cannot now, in good conscience, object.
