Capitalism IS Christianity in its' most Protestant secularized form... it's the "Calvinist" (Reformed Christianity) heresy pushed to its' polemic end... the "commodification of Labour" (which strips all "culture" OUT of labour and transforms it into a mere "commodity"). After all:

Religion is the mother of culture. –RenĂ© Girard

...even secular culture.

The missing point in this conversation? Meden Agan (Nothing too much). Polemics (ala Chris Hedges [who I admire]) are definitionally "biased".

Or more succinctly, "There's no Christ in Christian Nationalism".

MAGA is anti-Christ, but a cult isn't a cult to the cult.

Capitalism, according to Max Weber, is Greed with an Ethical... Imperative... and that Imperative came from Calvinism.

...a form of "Greed-Pride" (as opposed to the "Guilt-Pride" ethics of Kitsch).

Many ways to come at the 'evangelical' bunch. Hedges is from the inside, he being an ordained pastor. A brief look at the beatitudes should make it a slam dunk.

I am glad that I walk a spiritual path that while not Christian or Jewish, or Muslim actually embodies much of the positive attributes of Jesus of Nazareth's teachings. Without the overlay of bigotry and judment so common in monotheistic spiritual paths that have twisted the teachings in actual practice in the modern world.

But, each to his or her own.

-FJ would approve of the "prosperity gospel", the favorite justification for greedy "Christians" to fleece their flocks of gullible sheep.

Joel Osteen is his kind of "Christian".

We all know the first commandment from Republican Jesus was, "Greed is good", amirite?

As Dave's point is confirmed.
