Daughter "Champagne Popsicles" Fills in at G20 for her Daddy

Trump's older daughter, Ivanka, stood in for him at the G20 meeting while Trump was off somewhere dithering about something.

Other than being the president's daughter, why was Ivanka chosen instead of a cabinet official, as is the usual policy?

Other than choosing people to design her jewelry, handbags and ripping off other people's designs for shoes, what are Ivanka's qualifications for substituting for the POTUS at such an important meeting?

Do the Trumpistas actually believe Ivanka became an entrepeneur on her own? Do the Trumpistas really believe she risked her life's savings to start her fashion and jewelry businesses? What exactly has she done that earned her the position of presidential aide on the international stage -- I mean other than being the daughter of a billionaire president? Is an unelected, unqualified, unprepared New York socialite the best person to represent American national interests?

Here’s the bottom line on President Trump’s time in Hamburg, Germany: The United States is no longer the star on the world stage. A man who strives always to be the center of attention managed to relinquish the leading role that this nation has played since winning World War II.

President Trump's highly-anticipated tete-a-tete with Russian leader Vladimir Putin simply served as a sideshow to the main event, which was the meeting of the G-20. It was an important and instructive sideshow but probably not the one that will mean the most for America going forward.

While it’s no surprise that Putin adamantly denied Russia's interference in the U.S. election, his ability to get away with that fiction does come as something of a shock. No matter who said what to whom in that cozy confab, it’s clear that Putin will pay no price for his nation’s meddling in the fundamental exercise of democracy in the United States of America.

That’s a big win for him.

The mere fact of the meeting was itself a victory for Putin. Only Russia's nuclear arsenal makes that country anything more than a bit player internationally. But all of the hoopla over the encounter between the two leaders had the laughable effect of putting a nation whose gross domestic product ranks lower than Italy’s on a par with the U.S.

And on climate, the president’s intransigence proved intractable. To the great distress of G-20 Chairperson Angela Merkel, the communique issued on that subject was signed by the G-19, not the full 20. Trump’s unwillingness to participate in international efforts to fight climate change is not only dangerous to the health and safety of every person on the planet, it’s also economically shortsighted.

Job growth in this country is colored green, as companies compete to use energy more cleanly and efficiently and to find ways to offset the effects of a changing climate.

Last year, more Americans were employed in “clean energy” jobs than in the fossil fuel industry. The president’s refusal to recognize that reality doesn’t make him look strong. It makes him look irrelevant.

We don’t know what tricks Vladimir Putin has up his sleeve as he heads back to Moscow unscathed by even a gentle scolding for undermining American democracy. And we probably won’t know for a while. It took Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev a few months to build the Berlin Wall after he shellacked John F. Kennedy at their first meeting.

We do know this: When President Trump left the G-20 today, the United States was no longer leading that group of the world’s most important nations. But the other members of that elite international community made their choice. They will continue to deal cooperatively on crucial matters facing the future, with or without America.

If the people of Germany are stupid enough to reelect that miserable old fat Commie sow they You seem to be so in love with, we'll have to say that der Vaterland is indulging in one big MERKEL JERK. And there isn't any other way to look at it.

To Anonymous @7:25 AM,

Sir or Madam, a minority of Americans voted for a miserable old fat baboon for POTUS last November, and he, Trump, has just completed a meeting with his BFF, the Commie Putin, who made a fool of Trump. Also DJT has his Vater-in-law, who was the head of the Communist Party in his town in Slovenia, living in the White House.Imagine that!

Your adolescent sexist insults to Angela Merkel reveal that your pathetic underdeveloped mind is stuck in the primitive world of judging females by looks, not achievements.

I enthusiastically and with great sincerity invite you to go have sexy time with yourself.

Have a sparkling day.

Angela Merkel's outstanding educational achievements:

At school, she learned to speak Russian fluently, and was awarded prizes for her proficiency in Russian and Mathematics.

Merkel was educated at the University of Leipzig, where she studied physics from 1973 to 1978.

Near the end of her studies at university of Leipzig, Merkel sought an assistant professorship at an engineering school. Merkel worked and studied at the Central Institute for Physical chemistry of the Academy of Sciences in Berlin-Adlershof from 1978 to 1990. After being awarded a doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.) for her thesis on quantum chemistry, she worked as a researcher and published several papers.

Besides "Anonymous's" puerile attempts to insult his or her betters, what has "Anonymous" contributed to intelligent discourse?

I'd love to put him or her in the same room with Chancellor Merkel and watch her chew him/her up and spit what's left into a latrine. For surely, that's where those moronic sexist insults belong.

I'm not sure DJT understood what the G20 was all about so why not 1st daughter. She is smart and better looking and can probably present herself and the US well.
The truth to one of your statements is a minority voted for both major candidates and neither go a majority.

All of the fuss about Putin is just a distraction because the past president said Russia was no longer a significant player and was past history. Why all of a sudden are they so powerful and the focus of the left, diversion. Who gave Iran the money and acceptance to enhance their nuclear capabilities so they could collaborate with N Korea. Who gave the American Taxpayers money to fund the feel good Paris accord. Who did nothing to make countries pay their share of NATO and who drew a line in the sand only to be saved by Putin. It is no wonder he said Russia could not influence an American election, payback from pulling him our of the fire.

It is understandable that the other world leaders do not like Trump. He is actually standing up for the American people and not buying other world leaders with taxpayer money.

Lets start a new movement Taxpayers Money Matters

As ridiculous as this sounds if the choice were either Ivanka or Donnie for President I'd vote for Ivanka.

Getting ones arms around and understanding how and why this nation has allowed itself to be hijacked by idiots like Trump is difficult. 2018 and 2020 may very well be its only chance to recover from the Trump experiment.

Makes you wonder what he, or she, was doing doing during English classes...

When I heard about Ivanka sitting in for Trump, my question was, "Where is the Sec. of State"? Why wasn't he there, and if he was, why didn't he sit in?

Go pound sand, you disgusting sack of shit. You can't out debate me and you can't out "insult" me with your replies either.

Skud... let's try this again for you apparently challenged people in America...

Meeting with leaders from Russia is not by itself a bad thing for an incoming administration.

The problem came not from the substance of those meetings, because we still do not know what was said. The problem is that when members of the incoming Admin were asked on their security clearances and in interviews if they had contacts with people from foreign governments during the campaign or after the election, they said no, they did not.

Then when evidence of this came out, they "suddenly" remembered.

So they were wrong, or misleading in their interviews and they perjured themselves when they signed their security clearances.

And all of that is before we get into the substance of any meetings.

The Trump Admin is taking the ridiculous Obama penchant for secrecy and non transparency to new levels. Why did they just not tell the truth?

Skud, as people on the Mothership recently pointed out, only guilty people or liars withhold information.

Skud and RN,

As ridiculous as this may sound, the way things are going, you may just get a chance to vote for Ivanka. Even if she does win some sad day in our distant future...

She will be:

Oh dear. Sounds like "Anonymous is off his Metamucil again.

Also, when someone has to hide behind "Anonymous" and then has to stoop to gutter insults, that person has lost the debate.

You've been owned, Anonymous.

Now Begone!

I can't debate you when you change my comments to make it seem as if you know what the hell you are saying, when you don't you Freak of nature!

Anonymous @8:19

You're in desperate need of deep psychological therapy and anger management. You're far too angry over imagined slights and injuries done to you. The "Freak" of nature surely is someone who overreacts to blog arguments.

Get help before you hurt yourself or someone else.

Dave,

If your post was suppose to be an insult you can do better. I doubt Ivanka will run for president so FJ you needn't worry. DJT had a tremendous opportunity to achieve a lot for the American people but he keeps getting in his own way. He is the first non professional politician since Eisenhower but my fear is he will ruin it for anyone coming after him who is not a career politician.
FJ, I guess your support is for the party not the office, that is a shame. Even though the past administration's main objective was to destroy the middle class I chose to support the office rather than the person so obama was still my president.
