WASHINGTON — American intelligence officials’ determination that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election to assist Donald J. Trump’s candidacy was fundamentally sound and untainted by politics, according to a key Republican-led Senate review released on Tuesday. "The committee is expected to release a final bipartisan volume in the coming months evaluating possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia. A draft, already approved by the committee, runs over 900 pages but has yet to be submitted for classification review by intelligence agencies, a process that could take weeks or months. More recently, Mr. Burr, who slowly pushed his bipartisan investigation forward despite calls from Mr. Trump to disband it, has come under intense scrutiny for a decision to liquidate much of his stock portfolio in February, before the coronavirus pandemic ravaged the financial markets. The Securities and Exchange Commission and the Justice Department have taken preliminary steps to investigate whether the sales had been based on nonpublic information Mr. Burr received on the Intelligence Committee or through other Senate work, a potential violation of the law.
Mr. Burr noted that Russia had continued efforts to interfere in American politics, and he said the warnings of three years ago still must be heeded.
“Russia and its imitators increasingly use information warfare to sow societal chaos and discord,” Mr. Burr said. “With the 2020 presidential election approaching, it’s more important than ever that we remain vigilant against the threat of interference from hostile foreign actors.”
Senator Mark Warner of Virginia, the committee’s top Democrat, concurred and warned that Russia’s success in 2016 would embolden the Kremlin to continue to interfere in American democracy."

Les, I lived in Chicago for a number of years so very familiar with voter fraud and why is it OK to ID to cash a check but not to vote. I have never understood why the democrats are so against honest elections where only qualified voters can vote. Explain how asking people to prove who they are is voter suppression and why is only republicans who are suppressing the vote. Are you saying that democrats commit more voter fraud than republicans so they are adversely affected.
If you are against russia influencing elections then you should be for requiring identification to vote. If they are russian citizens with a russian address they should not be allowed to vote. In Chicago it was vote early vote often even if you are dead and that is a democrat city so I can understand them not wanting ID.

But facts are facts. Donald Trump was elected with help from Russia. Whether he was aware of that or not is a somewhat open question. But there can be no doubt now that Russia was working on his behalf. The GOP dominated committee settles that question.
But just like the "Miracle Drug" that has been proven to be ineffective in treating Covid-19, they will not enter into a discussion on the facts. Because the facts are not good for them.

What is missing in your line of "facts" is anything Trump did, or said during the month of February when we might have slowed the rate of infection. Certainly the Dems did not offer much either, but they had no way of knowing or having the info President Trump had. Which we now know was devastating.
Why did he not share that with the American people? Worse, why did he choose to knowingly lie to the American people even as his own people within the Admin were sounding alarm bells?

Sorry to disagree but on January 31 it was reported by the to congress by congressional research. You give a pass to the incompetent congress and blame it all on the incompetent trump. Face it rev the world was left woefully unprepared for Covid. Our incompetent politicians and their focus on seeing an impeachment or prevent one caused this. Now there is growing support from the left for the W.H.O who first new about this in December 2019.
How do you prepare for something like this which was the unknown. Is it trumps fault, W.H.O fault or congress fault. The correct answer is all three share the blame. There was one way for the left to win the election and that was take down the economy and they got it from a little bug, who wodda known.
