Trump appoints his son-in-law to head Covid-19 response.

Jared Kushner is a guy with zero experience in pandemics or healthcare itself and with at least 3 LARGE failures in his business life. The only reason he was appointed by trump is that he's trump's son-in-law. What could go wrong with letting another incompetent run the Covid-19 response?

Oh. This, for one miserable example:

KUSHNER: "The notion of the federal stockpile was it's supposed to be our stockpile. It's not supposed to be states stockpiles that they then use."

This is the front page of the Federal Strategic National Stockpile website:

So, did the Department of Health & Human Services just change the homepage of the Strategic National Stockpile’s mission to conform with wonderboy’s notion that the Feds are only a back-up to the States? Obviously Kushner is too lazy and too incompetent to even bother to look at what the SNS says on its own website. And trump put this putz in charge of the Covid-19 respons?

Darwin help us!

Michelle Goldberg, NYTimes:

"Kushner has succeeded at exactly three things in his life. He was born to the right parents, married well and learned how to influence his father-in-law. Most of his other endeavors — his biggest real estate deal, his foray into newspaper ownership, his attempt to broker a peace deal between the Israelis and the Palestinians — have been failures."

I didn't vote for 45, but I'm pretty sure those who did, didn't count on the "Z" team running the game. And "the Z team" is a perfect term to describe what trump has put in place to deal with this pandemic.

A "Z" team by my definition means a team or group that is easily influenced by rumors, gossip, misinformation, and lies -- and Zers believe what other people tell them instead of knowing facts.

IOW, ignorant, incompetent partisan hacks who are easily misled.

A laugh for you, Shaw:

A fourth-grade teacher asked the children what their parents do for a living. All the typical answers came up - mechanic, business, sales, doctor, engineer... and so forth.

However, little Justin was being uncharacteristically quiet, so when the teacher prodded him about his parents, he replied, "My father's an exotic dancer in a gay cabaret and takes off all his clothes to music in front of other men and they put money in his underwear. Sometimes, if the offer is really good, he will go home with some guy and stay with him all night for money."

The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some exercises and took little Justin aside."Is that really true about your father?"

"No," the boy said, "He works for the Republican National Committee and is trying to get Trump re-elected, but it's too embarrassing to say that in front of the other kids.”

Jared probably regrets not marrying that waitress in Brooklyn...

Shaw... can any sane person defend Kushner at this point? Can any sane person support someone who hires such an unqualified person to lead the biggest disaster relief program in US history? Of course not. but millions of people suffering from insanity certainly can.

You can bet we'll hear nothing from the Trumpistas about this... "I will hire only the best people".

If this is the best person available in the entire nation, Lord help us.

Today is a great day. This one had me laughing so hard I damn near chocked. Thanks for sharing Ray. Humor really is the best medicine. And when it's at trump's expense it's all that much better.

Thanks, Ray. I needed that.

Because I just read this in the LA Times:

"Two months before the novel coronavirus is thought to have begun its deadly advance in Wuhan, China, the Trump administration ended a $200-million pandemic early-warning program aimed at training scientists in China and other countries to detect and respond to such a threat.

The project, launched by the U.S. Agency for International Development in 2009, identified 1,200 different viruses that had the potential to erupt into pandemics, including more than 160 novel coronaviruses. The initiative, called PREDICT, also trained and supported staff in 60 foreign laboratories — including the Wuhan lab that identified SARS-CoV-2, the new coronavirus that causes COVID-19."

Shaw... of course they did. Because who could have seen this coming? Who could have imagined this? Who could have foreseen something as bad as this?

Certainly no one paying attention the Obama Admin and their warnings in January of 2017 that this was in fact, on the horizon. Because all of those people have been fired, removed from their jobs, or have left the Trump Admin.

But hey, at least we've got Kushner.

Anyone else see that this morning that the National Strategic Reserve Website has been updated to remove language in conflict with the stupidity of yesterday's Admin statement.

BB-Idaho I guess I don't know the story of Jared and the Brooklyn waitress.

Dave, Imagine if Hillary had won and she put Chelsea's husband (who has no experience in healthcare or in dealing with a pandemic) in charge of the Covid-19 catastrophe. You would have heard the screaming howls from AOW, Z, Free, and the rest of the holier-than-thou gang and their commenters on how incompetent "Hildebeast" is. They are quiet about this. And I believe in my heart that they know Jared is the worst possible choice, but because they're cultists, not rational-thinking Americans, they will say nothing about Trump's ridiculously stupid appointment of his son-in-law, a known real estate developer and cheat. Even those who I once thought were at least semi-rational will say our reactions are merely Trump-derangement libtards angry because Hillary lost.

If they had any moral conscience, they'd be just as angry as we are. That they're not and still support Trump's incompetence tells us all we need to know.

Yeah Shaw, they're old white folks yearning for the good old days of the Robber Barons. Or worse.

The supporters of trump couldn't have picked a better person to destroy legitimate conservatism if they had actually been trying.

Shaw Kenawe said...

RN, There are enough real conservatives with a conscience out there who, I believe, will be able to take back the Republican Party. The GOP can't sustain this ignorance and grow. Young people are not attracted to the present party. Without new young people, the present GOP will wither and die.

Dave, The Trump administration is acting in the same way that a totalitarian regime would.

Shaw... worse!
