With the new federal "reaction force" ready to be deployed on American soil, in place of local law enforcement, and directed by the White House under a president, and president really, who cannot be challenged thanks to the recent SCOTUS ruling, we are not moving towards dangerous territory at all.

I think it relates to the questionable behavior we're seeing in Trump.
In his Monday presser, Trump said, not just once, but twice, that he would meet Putin in Russia on Friday.
Trump is meeting Putin in Alaska on Friday.
If former President Biden has said that twice in one presser, we'd still be seeing headlines about it today.
But certain people who carped about Biden's "decline" choose to ignore the mental deterioration in Trump.
I wonder why.

Home Rule Act, which gave D.C. residents the right to elect a mayor and council in 1973. It also includes a provision requiring the mayor to "provide" police services to the president for federal purposes if he declares special conditions of an emergency exist. While D.C. officials dispute there is an emergency and note crime is declining rather than spiking, legally, Bowser said, “We could contest that, but the authority is pretty broad." This law is unique to D.C. and could not be used to take over other cities' police departments." "The City is uniquely vulnerable to Federal intervention."
