General John Kelly: "He said that, in his opinion, Mr. Trump met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator if allowed, and had no understanding of the Constitution or the concept of rule of law."

“My son is a high quality person and I applaud his transparency.”

"High quality."

Notice how Trump describes his namesake; it's the way one would describe a steak, a wine, or a course in real estate sales.

Not a beloved son.

Trump sees everything through a value lens: "Does this thing have value for me? How does this thing reflect on me?"

A normal father, understanding the terrible trouble his son is in, would have said he stands by his son, supports his son, loves his son.

Trump is not normal.

We who see Trump for the wretched and malignant narcissist and fraud that he is have known all along that he is not normal. And when you put a person like that in a position of power, he sullies  everything around him: His own son, our beloved country.

Now we know that all the protestations we've heard for over a year -- all of them -- have been lies. Or what Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times calls "duplicity on top of collusion."

The Trump campaign and Trump's son and son-in-law met with a Russian, a foreign agent, a Kremlin-tied lawyer from a country hostile to the United States of America, with the purpose of interfering  in our presidential election. The Russians wanted to help Donald Trump get elected to the U.S. presidency.

No amount of screaming FAKE NEWS! or ENEMEDIA! will change this fact -- a fact backed up by Donald J. Trump, Jr.'s own emails:  Junior colluded with the Russians. His emails are the smoking gun:

"I love it."

Whether or not Donnie JT Jr. committed a crime or not will be decided by Robert Mueller and his team. What we’re discussing now are not legal issues, they’re political. How long will Republican leaders on Capitol Hill continue to defend the president, his family and the strange actions related to one of our foremost foreign opponents. When will they drop the mantle of the old, tired elephant and instead serve as the phalanx of the United States? When will they decide, in the face of extremely unpleasant realities, that a sitting president of the United States and his family have compromised his office and violated his oath?

Charlie Pierce:

At this point, you have to have a mind of bread dough to give either Pence or his nominal boss the benefit of any doubt. (Thanks to Junior's efforts, Philip Bump had a precise timeline on which to hang this video of the president* delivering a suspiciously clairvoyant victory speech. Wonder how he knew what was coming?) All over the Intertoobz, Trump Kremlinologists—and, hell, actual Kremlinologists—were parsing the events to a fine pulp to try and discover the through line in what now appears to be a writhing ball of snakes pretending to be a government.

Trump's White House: "...a writhing ball of snakes pretending to be a government."

That sums it up quite nicely.

Are the wingnuts still defending the Trump Crime Family?

When will they wake up from their Trump coma?

Well Shaw, I guess I'm not normal. If my son(s) did what Don Jr. admitted to doing I would continue to love them, however, if they engaged in criminal or unethical behavior I would not defend such behavior (stand by them). Nor would I expect them to defend (stand by me) if I acted unethically or criminally.

That's just me. Having said that I do understand your point relative to Trump Sr. And, you are correct.

We understand Junior soiled his diaper several times on Tuesday, and Big Daddy said it was honest and transparent crap.

"Trump Jr says he never told his father about the controversial meeting."

If you believe that, I have a wall I'll build for you.

I think you need to consider that jr is not part of the administration.
Did he lie, probably and so does every politician throughout mankind. Even BHO lied as did his SS, both of them.
This is the primary need to drain the swamp and vote all of them out of office on all three sides.

I guess if -H- was not so corrupt and dishonest with her handling of her emails and pay for play the democrats would have nothing to go after the current administration for. The only accusation is "RUSSIA" tried to post -H- emails that she shouldn't have written and corruption she shouldn't have participated. Russia handed the dems something they can harp about for the next 3 1/2 years and they will get plenty of press coverage.

Leave it to a right winger to blame Hillary Clinton for Junior's lies and all-around stupidity that led to uncovering Junior's willingness to collaborate with a hostile foreign government -- Russia, FFS! -- in order to place Big Daddy on the throne.

You even felt the necessisty to drag President Obama's good and honest name through the Trumpian mud and sewerage in order to plant the lie of "both-siderism." No, Skud, Mr. Obama is not in any way on gawd's green earth like the venal and lawless Trumps.

There is nothing in our recent history -- not even Nixonian history -- that compares to, as Charlie Pierce put it, "Trump's writhing ball of snakes pretending to be a government."

I smell a certain odor from WYD blog.

No one said trump is innocent and didn't know what was going on, if he didn't he should have.
He needs to resign and Pence take the helm so we can get something done. The press may let Pence get something accomplished and it would remove the russia talking point.

BHO's biggest fault was he was an ideologue. He was against the US taking a superior position in the world and foreign leaders liked him because he was not a threat to them. He read his speeches well and only got involved if there was a racial issue. He believed everyone should share the wealth created by a few. Is this dishonest, no but it does go against how this country is successful.
BTW, he was more misled by his naivete and his handlers than he was corrupt.

Using Charlie Pierce is like using Shaun Hannidy, both of them are beyond reason on the political spectrum.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Charlie Pierce is an educated and talented journalist who writes with wit. Whereas, Sean Hannity is just a witless hack.

President Obama was admir d and liked all over Europe and the world. That's a fact. Donal Trump is not. That's a fact.

No amount of your trying to muddy reality will ever change that. Only 30% of Americans support the National Embarrassment known as Trump. That's another fact. President Obama never had numbers that bad nor that many people who were disgusted by him.

You're living in an alternate reality. I'm not.

Skud, Trump's own FBI director has stated that this is not a which hunt.

The question is only whether it can be traced back to Lord Dampnut himself and since he was dumb enough to use his own family, deniability may be limited.

Duck,

Remember Bengazi, Bengazi, Bengazi. Now it is Russia, Russia, Russia the biggest difference is four Americans died in Bengazi due to incompetent leadership, now it is just incompetent leadership. The dems would be better off appointing leadership and developing an agenda. They should go after wasserman shultz for her "I shut bernie down" because I was all about -H-.

All the diversion will not change the fact that nothing illegal happened even if it traced back to DJT. It would only be illegal if the trump team asked russia to hack information and that didn't happen. One idiot, probably Lindsey Graham, called it an act of treason. Guess they should read what the definition of treason. All this is doing is delaying DJT from getting anything done, which I am sure is the plan. He won the election because he had an agenda that appealed to the American voter. I hate Trump is not an agenda and it has cost the dems several elections.

I agree Shaw, his numbers are not good but he does dominate the media, most of it bad.
BHO had better handlers who controlled him. He did have a few mised steps but the media blew past them in a day or so. Keep you insurance company and doctor, save 2500 a year, you didn't build it, steal from the rich and give to the poor and the biggest one of all is 200k is rich.

We do live in interesting times

Skudrunner "I think you need to consider that jr is not part of the administration."

He wasn't part of the administration when the meeting happened, because it was before the Trump administration existed. But he was part of Trump's campaign (as were Manafort and Kushner), and that's what counts. The whole issue here is whether Trump's campaign collaborated with the Russian regime to influence the election. This meeting proves they did.

"The press may let Pence get something accomplished and it would remove the russia talking point."

No it won't. Trump wouldn't be President without the Russia collaboration, thus Pence wouldn't be VP without that collaboration, so Pence succeeding as President would be just as illegitimate. This whole government is a foreign neo-colonial regime and we won't have a legitimate government until it's gone.

skud - "It would only be illegal if the trump team asked russia to hack information..."

Not true.

Jerry, the Trumpistas have place the honesty bar so low that they now have to dig 6 feet down to clear it.

Deanter, see above. The Trumpistas are bending so far backward to justify the criminal behavior of the Trump Regime that they're now kissing their own butts. SAD!

Angry Guy, The answer to your question is NEVER. The Trumpistas love Trump and his Crime family more than they love America. They are loyal to a deeply flawed creep, not their country. Write them off. They're disgraceful.

RN, Yeah. Most intelligent fathers who know their sons are in deep trouble would at least show some affection, but still acknowledge that their sons did wrong. Trump did neither. He's not normal. You are.
