I get why Joe and Mika met with Trump. He's going to be the president. Period.
What serious newsperson would not want an ability to meet with a US President. This rapprochement was about nothing more than money and access.
Now, as to the fear issue, let me opine from out west.
In 2008 my neighborhood, an exurban rural adjacent area had signs for both McCain and Obama. And it was okay.
This election we saw few Biden or Harris signs. But we do see plenty of Trump signs, flags, homes adorned with Trump Christmas light displays and more. The lifted white diesel four door truck barreling down the street with MAGA and Trump flags is another regular reality in the Vegas area, an area of Nevada that favored Harris by a large margin.
When you talk to people about this, regular Dems who still live in our area, you begin to understand why there are/were so few homes with Harris promotional material.
People are afraid of what might happen to their homes, cars and families.
Is it without reason?
I'm not sure. Do my conservative MAGA Loving friends have an answer? The more religious or sane ones decry the above reality. The hardcore MAGA people don't care how you feel or what happens. They say support Trump and nothing bad will happen.

Always learn something from Skud "Biden legacy sinking below Carter on a daily basis'. The list of presidents rated by historians of the subject over a range of criteria has Carter at 29 (Lincoln as usual is #1). Trump is rated
