Josh Marshall:
"Trump's incoming FCC chair already putting TV networks on noticed they'll be punished for coverage Trump doesn't like. Trump use already violated his oath in term 1 by using public power to punish coverage he didn't like. Even more open now."
(This is how authoritarian regimes take control of media -- they threaten them unless they publish only good things about them.)
This is NOT American.

On another topic. Trump was pro-trans people before the Christian Nationalists talked him out of it:
Trump said people should use the bathroom they feel is appropriate, and he spoke out against trans bathroom bills.
Trump has never had any core values or beliefs.
Holy moly. MAGA is losing their mind over an uncovered video from 2016 where Donald Trump says people should use the bathroom they feel is inappropriate and speaks out against trans bathroom bills. RT this so MAGA implodes.

Whatever You Know Who says should be taken as a grain of salt. It is probably false. Or very soon will be.
A liar, cheat, and scoundrel his entire life he is going to continue his unethical and immoral behaviors. They are ingrained in his psyche and therefore his daily habits.
Is that really what the incoming FCC chair or is that just fake news. For the party of love and open ideas crowd they sure are good full of hate. The democrat govoners hate their citizens enough to allow illegals to invade homes and kill the citizens but hey less to take care of.
Like Trump, anything you don't believe or are too lazy to look up must be fake? This isn't fake. Trump's pick to head the FCC, like other authoritarians -- (Orban's Hungary), means what he said.
Also there's this from Trump's choice for the FCC:
Trump Picks Brendan Carr to Lead F.C.C.
Mr. Carr, who currently sits on the commission and is a vocal critic of Big Tech, has said the agency should regulate the tech industry.
It appears the anti-regs Trumpers are okay with regs THEY want. Just like an authoritarian government would choose!
"President-elect Donald J. Trump on Sunday chose Brendan Carr to be chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, naming a veteran Republican regulator who has publicly agreed with the incoming administration’s promises to slash regulation, go after Big Tech and punish TV networks for political bias.
Mr. Carr, who currently sits on the commission, is expected to shake up a quiet agency that licenses airwaves for radio and TV, regulates phone costs and promotes the spread of home internet. Before the election, Mr. Trump indicated he wanted the agency to strip broadcasters like NBC and CBS of their licensing for unfair coverage."
This is a recipe for authoritarian/fascist government.
If you don't publish what we want and like, you're going to get punished the way Trump wants and likes.
It's right in front of your nose, skud. Liz Cheney was correct when she said too many Americans are too lazy and uninformed to understand they are sleep-walking into fascism.
This is EXACTLY how fascist governments take hold of a nation.
As for your comment on illegals killing people, you're focused on that but ignore the fact that firearms are the leading killer of children in this country.
From Johns Hopkins Public Health Report 2024:
"For third straight year, firearms killed more children and teens, ages 1 to 17, than any other cause including car crashes and cancer. There were 2,526 gun deaths among 1- to 17-year-olds, averaging to nearly 7 per day."
Illegals aren't killing American children at the rate that firearms are killing American children.
But go ahead and use the undocumented to stir up more fear and hatred. It seems to be the favorite past time of Trumpers.
You Know Who is now officially above the law.
So, since the pond scum that conned a nation is now above the law a very strong legal argument needs to be formulated to place All Americans above the law.
As the pond scum is now above the law, so should we all be also be allowed the same rights.
If no then someone needs to explain by what logical basis does the corrupted scotus ruling make any ethical sense.
When the blind open their now sealed eyes and minds perhaps they too will rue the decision they made voting for You Know Who.
Shaw, I remember when Obama was president and #45 to life was running the first time. The number of lies spilling from #45's mouth was unprecedented; overwhelming us all. You'd created a post about the topic and skud came running in all breathless whining that Obama lied too because he said that one time you could keep your doctor. Thousands vs. one.
ooooookkaaaaaayyyyyyyyy.
skud held onto that one mis-statement (corrected once Obama learned that option had been nixed by the GOP) for years and proudly dropped it into their comments whenever anyone highlighted the lies spilling from #45's mouth.
Fast forward to today as skud trots out their newest favorite point - that one time an immigrant killed a citizen, ignoring the thousands upon thousands of immigrants who did not commit crimes. But hey, that one time....
What worries me the most about talk surrounding mass deportations is where I live there are millions of citizens with Hispanic last names. Many citizens still speak with a heavy accent as that's how folks speak in their homes. Thing is, all those citizens with Hispanic last names - they've been here forever, like before the land was a territory like ever. In fact they were here when the land was owned by Mexico, so... Not sure if the goon squads are going to take a moment to figure out if the family with the Hispanic last name has been here for generations or not. Based on the actions of #45's supporters I'm going to lean towards not.
OT - Jack Smith dismissed the cases he had against #45 to life as per the DOJ memo stating no sitting president can be prosecuted for crimes they committed. The fact he dismissed both the documents case and the election interference case without prejudice means once #45 leaves office the cases can be refiled.
Also, I owe everyone an apology. I defended Merrick Garland (won't call him AG as he did not do his duty) and I was wrong.
When the nation needed an Attorney General to stand up to power he sat down. When the nation needed an Attorney General to speak up to defend the Constitution he remained silent. To me here/now he embodies the phrase "For evil to succeed all that is necessary is for good men to do nothing". Again, I apologize.
Grey... that Obama has been a go to defense from Skud for years. Good catch.
Newsflash for some... a mistake in a statement is not a lie. It's a mistake.
A lie requires intent to deceive or deflect, like "My health plan is coming out is a few days" or a "few weeks". Or "I never had sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky". Or "It [Covid] will all go away" in a few weeks.
Maybe Skud can see the difference. Or... maybe not.
Garland as an AG was a weak sister. The one apologizing should be Biden.
As for dismissed w/o prejudice, likely means little. Assuming You Know Who actually lives out his term he'll be what, 82. Being obese he may not even complete his term in office. If he does, and somebody actually refiles, he'll likely simply drag it out until he dies.
The odds the lying insurrectionist will ever be held accountable is very slim at best.
It will remain legally okay to be corrupt and be president. America has slid so far from ethical behavior in law and government (primarily due to corrupt cons on scotus and republicans) we may not recover for generations.
The wrecking ball begins full destructive swinging J20 2025.
