FILE UNDER "NO ONE IS SURPRISED"


Today, C-SPAN released its second Historians Survey of Presidential Leadership, in which “65 presidential historians ranked the 42 former occupants of the White House on ten attributes of leadership.


Coming in first was Abraham Lincoln, followed by George Washington, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt, and Harry Truman.


Finishing last was James Buchanan.


George W. Bush came in 36th, just beating out Millard Fillmore, who ranked 37th.

I have been told constantly by conservatives, wait, just wait George Bush will go down in History as one of the best Presidents.

I usually laugh at how delusional these conservatives are when they say that, not to mention GB himself who says that History and historians will vindicate him.

The criteria used by historians to grade a Presidents performance will not change, nor will the facts of what President Bush did.

The mantra of a conservative is "DO NO HARM..." and sadly, GB would rank even lower on that scale than he did on the one by historians.

As far as crisis leadership goes...Dolly Madison hit pretty high on that one and she was not a President.

If you just sit down and look at his record objectively you realize that he just doesn't rank.

Never did and never will....and I suspect that he never really wanted to. I personally have always believed that he got talked into it and saw it as a way to show up the 'old man' without ever realizing, once in office, you had to lead.

To lead you have to have a vision.

I also wish they would fix the picture bug, too. Every time I upload an image, it trashes the text of a post, introducing many extra spaces between paragraphs. The paragraphs rarely work, too, requiring me to manual enter raw HTML paragraph tags to get them to work sometimes.
