WISHING YOU PEACE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

The Snow Man
by Wallace Stevens

One must have a mind of winter
To regard the frost and the boughs
Of the pine-trees crusted with snow;

And have been cold a long time
To behold the junipers shagged with ice,
The spruces rough in the distant glitter

Of the January sun; and not to think
Of any misery in the sound of the wind,
In the sound of a few leaves,

Which is the sound of the land
Full of the same wind
That is blowing in the same bare place

For the listener, who listens in the snow,
And, nothing himself, beholds
Nothing that is not there and the nothing that is.

You have a good Hollydayz....
I would like to wish every one "Peach on Earth",,,, but I ran out of Peaches and "Grapefruit on Earth" just doesn't have the same zing to it.

Looking forward to reading your pages in 2012

I hope you have a great Christmas and a great 2013 Shaw.

You to RN.

And I love and respect and wish Octo a wonderful Christmas and new Year. And Okjimm and everyone else who reads this post.

Did I ever tell you about one of the speeches I made at a campaign deal that relates to this? Funny story.

TRUTH, I haven't had much to smile about these past few weeks, but you certainly gave me a LOL! by wishing me a great 2013!

Please don't tell me you skipped over 2012 because it's going to be a bad year for us Dems! LOL!

And please come back to tell me the funny story, since I really want to laugh again.

I have some very nice liberal elitist chardonnay we could share, or [my fave] Sam Adams winter ale. Or...

...we could empty some brandy into the eggnog and really go wild, say, fill the naughty and not nice Tea Baggers' stockings with Alice B. Toklas brownies then watch Eric Cantor get it on with Jim Sessenbrenner while they flip out over photos in Ebony of bountiful, beautiful, big-assed women.

You know they want to!

Anyone who doesn;t want to get loaded with you and look at hot chicks in Ebony has something wrong with him Shaw.

keep the Sam Adams though. My brother makes us drink that swill every year at this time. It's more of a macho power thing. Bottle and a half is all I can take without a trip to the porcelean alter. My dad can handle a bit more but my brother drinks this piss like kool aid.

Anyway, we're at a big candidates night and we have a former office holder be the emcee. He tells the same stories he's told for the last twenty years. The one about the "flatulance' funny fifteen years, now results in a big yawn. then of course, if you've ever been to one of these things, anything, the speakers feel the need to thank everyone in the room. There were about 350 people in the room.

The guy finally got to me, as I was a union officer at the time and he probably thought I was of some importance. Then he asked me if I had a message for the folks. I stood up and my wife reminded me to watch my language, went over and took the podium from the windbag. That got me a standing ovation.

Then, everyone knew me or my reputation, so they all anticipated something funny and irreverent. I said "I'd like to thank everyone who hasn't been thanked."

They roared in approval. Knowing that neither I or anyone else could top that, I returned to my seat and my wife me for making it nine words without dropping the F bomb.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Well that is surprising.

Too bad you did mutter under your breath ala Joe Biden "F... you very much" as you took your seat. But you may not have lived to tell the story.

Joe "Truth 101" Kelly said...

The elitist chardonnay sounds yummy. I suppose I'd drink the Sam Adams if presented. I've always said never refuse money, beer or a ride. Just bad manners.

Truth - funny story, I can certainly see you doing that! ;)

Shaw - can I party with you and truth. Haven't been to a really good party in awhile. All the talk about getting loaded with you and looking at hot chicks in Ebony certainly has me rheady to party.

I don't know if Shaw digs cigars though RN. I'd be willing to forgo them for the rest of the stuff though.

Yeah, me to Truth...

Shaw: That is such a beautiful picture and poem.

I hope you have a Merry Christmas despite all that you are going through. I also hope that 2012 brings more happiness than you'll know how to handle. If anyone deserves it, YOU do!

Lots of hugs and love.

Pamela took the words right out of my mouth. It is a beautiful image and an equally beautiful poem.

Merry Christmas to you and everyone here.

A nice crisp poem is about as close as I want to be to the subject matter (not that it does me any good), and that's a great poem.

I wish you a Merry Christmas and terrific new year.

Howdy excellent website! Does running a blog like this require a great deal of work?
I have absolutely no understanding of programming however I had been hoping to start my own blog soon.
Anyhow, if you have any suggestions or techniques for new blog owners please share.
I understand this is off subject however I just had to ask.
Thanks a lot!
