George Zimmerman, Killer of Treyvon Martin, found "not guilty"

The man who shot and killed an unarmed teenager was found NOT GUILTY by a jury of Sanford, Florida, citizens.

The man who shot an unarmed teen walks.

Sanford, Florida, justice?

What could we have expected from a city that has a long, long history of racial injustice?

"...some night very soon, if he so chooses, George Zimmerman can load his piece, tuck it into the back of his pants, climb into his SUV, and drive around Sanford, Florida looking for assholes and fucking punks who are walking through neighborhoods where he, George Zimmerman, defender of law and order, doesn't think they belong.

He can drive around Sanford, Florida and check out anyone who is dressed in such a manner as might frighten the average citizen who has been fed a daily diet of "Scary Black Kids" by their local news and by their favorite radio personalities, and who is dressed in such a manner as might seem inappropriate to their surroundings as determined by George Zimmerman, crimebuster.

He can drive around Sanford, Florida until he spots an asshole or a fucking punk and then he can get out of his SUV, his piece tucked into the back of his pants, and he can stalk the asshole or the fucking punk, the one who is in the wrong neighborhood, or who is dressed inappropriately, at least according to George Zimmerman, protector of peace.

If the asshole, or the fucking punk, turns around and objects to being stalked -- or, worse, if the asshole, or the fucking punk, decides physically to confront the person stalking him -- then George Zimmerman can whip out the piece from the back of his pants and shoot the asshole, or the fucking punk, dead right there on the spot.

This can happen tonight.

That is now possible.

Hunting licenses are now available and it's open season on assholes, fucking punks, and kids who wear hoodies at night in neighborhoods where they do not belong, at least according to George Zimmerman, defender of law and order, crimebuster, and protector of the peace, because that is what American society has told George Zimmerman, and all the rest of us, is the just outcome of what happened on one dark and rainy night in February of 2012..."

To paraphrase George Zimmerman, these thugs always get off.

Yes, he got away with it. My heart sank when I heard the verdict. Hopefully the family will can win a wrongful death suit, although I heard Zimmerman's lawyers are going to ask the judge to give him immunity from a civil suit. This also sets a terrible precedent. Two people get in an altercation and one shoots the other dead... of course the person will claim Stand Your Ground or Self Defense. This sets up a free pass to murder so long as you do it right and make it look like "self defense". It worked for Zimmerman despite all the lies and inconsistencies the prosecution revealed during the trial. Unbelievable.

As expected the left is burning rubber in the drive to turn this into racism. Not surprising.

Emotionalism apparently rules the day in left blogistan.

Personally I think the prosecution did a poor job of presenting its case. That and the charge of second degree murder was unjustified. Therefore the prosecution could not prove its charge beyond a reasonable doubt. Shame on the DA's office.

Zimmerman was quilty of being a very stupid man. Because he ignored the instructions of the police on that fateful night a young man (not a child) lost his life. For this Zimmerman should be doing some time. The fact he isn't you can blame on an inept DA and a poor prosecuting team. Unfortunate. But turning immediately to characterizing it as raaaaacism is equally as unfortunate.

The system worked as designed, justice was not neccessarily served. But place the blame where it rightfully should be placed.

Boston has a racist past too:

"My first visit to Boston was in the 1980's when it was evidently undergoing busing. It was the first and only time I've ever seen a KKK rally and it was in downtown Boston. Being from the South it solidified my view of Northerners who say one thing, but do another...just like Southerners."

So because there is not enough evidence against a Hispanic male it is because of racism not lack if proof.
Maybe presbo will make some stupid statement like his son comment or I don't know the facts but the cop overreacted. He can invite all to the people's house for a beer

I don't like to focus on the racial angle of this case because that hides a much broader issue.

Did George Zimmerman act prudently? Did he have other options?

Yes, the 911 operator told him to stay in his car.

But he did not follow that prudent advice. He took it upon himself, most likely because he had a gun, to stalk this young man. To confront this young man.

Self Defense is only a defense when someone acts prudently.

George Zimmerman was guilty and justice has not been served.

To say race had no part in this murder trial is to refuse to see what is evident.

Look at the racial history of this particular city. We can't ignore that.

Incog,

What is the purpose of your comment except to divert attention away from this case? It has absolutely NOTHING to do with Treyvon Martin's murder.

The North is NOT like the south.

The south continued with its Jim Crow laws and unabated MURDER of black men and boys up until the 1970s. The south coddled politicians who fought against overturning lynch laws.

Yes, there were pockets of racism in the North, but it was the North, not the South where the Abolition movement arose that led to the end of slavery.

No comparison, incog.

I grew up in a mixed neighborhood, that was about one-third White. My best friends were black or asian. I never had any problem. Zimmerman is a killer and may well kill again, actually probably. I think he used his vigilante job as looking for a chance to kill, a dark-skinned person in particular. If Martin was beating up on an adult male bigger and weightier than him, Zimmerman knew he didn't have a gun, so he shot him.

What would have happened to Martin if he had been carrying a gun, was "standing his ground" and shot an armed man. Do you think he would have been found not guilty? Not likely. In Florida, a black woman at her home fired warning shots to make her abusive husband go away. She got 20 years. Florida has re-introduced lynching.

Here's How I See It:

IT HAS LITTLE OR NOTHING TO DO WITH "LAW" IN THE MINDS of MOST

IT AIN'T "LEGAL," IT'S SO-CI-O-LO-G-I-CAL

When a Negro attacks a white person it is never considered a race issue. The media ignores it, or soft pedals it. On the other hand if a Negro gets hurt or killed by a white person -- even accidentally -- it immediately becomes a cause celebre in the media, and is not only regarded as a "race issue," it is also presented as a "Hate Crime" -- a vicious violation of someone's Civil Rights -- and justification for rioting, burning down whole neighborhoods, and looting every store in sight -- especially those operated by Jews and Koreans -- two groups Negroes resent even more bitterly than they do the white man.

As we should have known for long time now, there is always one set of people who are "more equal than others."

For a long time that privileged group was White Men. Then, after WWII it was the Jews. Now, it's Negroes and other "persons of color." Women and Homosexuals are not far behind. Then it will be the Cripples and the Mentally Retarded.

In the Liberal Mindset in order to achieve "Social Justice" EACH FACTION MUST HAVE ITS TURN at WIELDING ARBITRARY, UNJUST, CRUELLY CONTEMPTUOUS ABUSE of POWER

White Men must pay for their Historic Collective Guilt in oppressing Jews and "minorities."

It is now The White Man's Turn to suffer discrimination, to be treated with utmost disrespect, to be hounded, harassed, bullied, and beaten simply because he is WHITE.

Payback may be hell -- but it's FAIR ------ isn't it?

Shaw Kenawe said...

Sorry, Mr. FT, I do not agree with you that the white race is now the one to suffer discrimination. That is just not true. Example for you to read:

"TAMPA, Fla. -- Marissa Alexander had never been arrested before she fired a bullet at a wall one day in 2010 to scare off her husband when she felt he was threatening her. Nobody got hurt, but this month a northeast Florida judge was bound by state law to sentence her to 20 years in prison.

Alexander, a 31-year-old mother of a toddler and 11-year-old twins, knew it was coming. She had claimed self-defense, tried to invoke Florida's "stand your ground" law and rejected plea deals that could have gotten her a much shorter sentence. A jury found her guilty as charged: aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Because she fired a gun while committing a felony, Florida's mandatory-minimum gun law dictated the 20-year sentence.

Her case in Jacksonville has drawn a fresh round of criticism aimed at mandatory-minimum sentencing laws. The local NAACP chapter and the district's African-American congresswoman say blacks more often are incarcerated for long periods because of overzealous prosecutors and judges bound by the wrong-headed statute. Alexander is black."

Ms Shaw, the case you cited is most unfortunate -- if what you have reported is all there is to it -- but other than pointing out an irony about the, apparently, unequal application of a law, it has no possible bearing on the Martin-Zimmerman situation -- no specific or material relationship to it, whatsoever.

Another irony in the Zimmerman mess is that Mr. Zimmerman is anything BUT a "white man." He is a colored person of obvious mixed racial heritage who in former times would probably have been labelled a quadroon.

Like many of us, myself included at times, you too easily confuse your psychological projections and heavily biased imaginings with factual evidence.

I don't own a gun, but if I did, and saw a shadowy figure lurking -- perhaps even crouching -- in the bushes under my eaves, I might very well be inclined "to shoot first, and ask questions later."

I suppose you are one who still believe Bernard Goetz was wrong to shoot down the four teenagers who very clearly were menacing him on the New York Subway?

I was -- and ever shall remain -- one of Mr. Goetz's biggest fans.

Somewhere in the Deepest Well of Wisdom known to humanity is this piece of great advice:

AVOID EVEN the APPEARANCE of EVIL.

Too bad no one told that to Trayvon Martin. He might still be alive to get into even worse mischief today.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Dear Jeebus, Anon, how in the gawddamned hell did Trayvon Martin given an "appearance of evil?"

You need to tell us exactly what you mean by that.

Please do.

How. Exactly. Did. Trayvon. Martin. Display. An. Appearance. of. Evil.?
