Elizabeth Warren Up By NINE in Massachusetts

Scott Brown won Senator Kennedy's seat in 2010 because he ran against a very weak candidate.  This time he's up against a really strong woman who has wide appeal and the ability to connect with the voters.

Brown made a big mistake going after Warren over her heritage claims.  The public didn't like his tactic, and it badly backfired.  The most recent misstep in Brown's campaign was claiming Warren used paid actors in an asbestos campaign ad, and then having to apologize for making the false claim.

I'm happy to report these very, very nice poll numbers for Elizabeth Warren at this point in the campaign:

From: Tom Jensen, Director of Public Policy Polling

To: Interested Parties

Subject: Warren takes largest lead yet in Massachusetts Senate race

Date: October 17
th, 2012

A new Public Policy Polling survey in Massachusetts finds Elizabeth Warren with her biggest lead in the race to date, 53-44 over Republican incumbent Scott Brown. Warren’s gained three points since last week we found her ahead 50-44.

Key findings from the survey include:

-Brown’s approval rating has dipped to just 46%, with 45% of voters unhappy with his job performance. Meanwhile Warren’s favorability numbers continue improving as the campaign progresses. 52% of voters now have a positive opinion of her to just 43% with a negative one.

-Warren is now leading Brown with both women (55-40) and men (50-48). She also has the advantage with voters in every age group. She’s cut Brown’s lead with independents almost in half over the last two months, from 26 points in August to now just 15 points. And she has the Democratic base pretty unified around her with 81% planning to vote for her compared to only 14% who are siding with Brown.

Go Elizabeth!

Elizabeth Warren may become our first female President in a few years. First a Black, then a Female. That ought to send the few remaining republicans right over the edge.

Nine Points! I like that number. It reminds me of Product #9 that removes excess glue from my newly laid mahogany floors. Number Nine will assuredly remove the Brown from Massachusetts.

Yes! If there's one person we really need in the Senate, it's Warren.

The asbestos / actors thing was a world-class gaffe and perfectly epitomizes the cold-blooded nature of the modern right wing.

JC, let's think BIG! We could freak out Republicans by electing a woman; a BLACK woman; a black woman who is MORMAN; a black woman who is a morman and is HAITIAN. A black woman who is morman, Haitian and an ANCHOR baby. Those pesky Republicans won't know what hit 'em!

The few remaining Republicans would freak if we elected an Asian who has undergone gender reassignment therapy for President!?

Or, a woman who is black and a Mormon!

This candiddate needs an unsual name. Something that will make Republicans think she wasn't born in America and isn't a citizen. Like Ludmya Bourdeau. Her memoir might detail how she met her husband (Jason Love) while on Mission in Utah. Their first date, at a shooting range. Leave out the shooting range as Republicans might like that.

So, there's your candidate: Mia Love! Sounds like a porn star and ought to have them right wingers jumping off a cliff.

A female black Mormon? They are about as rare as a true statement from Romney.

Always glad to see her tribe supports her.

Considering Brown is alleged to have hired homeless blacks to campaign for him, his false charge that Warren hired actors just adds another layer to his already smarmy record.

No. No. No. SF, Willard isn't running for the Senate in Massachusetts.

I wish her well.

But note to self: It took us into the 21st century in this "exceptional" country for women to get to this point.

And we're still woefully under-represented in state and federal governments.

SF never did respect the concept of democracy, always disrespected election results that do not go his way, never respected the express will of the people, harasses readers at every opportunity, and plagiarizes their blogs with complete abandon.

Not even a garden variety troll, SF is consummate shithead.

Who is to blame for there not being enough women in politics?

Politics has always been a GOB club but that is changing slowly. The GOB's have screwed things up for too long, why not give a female a chance.

KP finally shows his true side. An elite racist slamming Mia Love as a black porn star.

As a man who is married to a woman and has two daughters I agree!

Brown's at it again:

In his recent debate with Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren, Brown announced his service, which was actually a two week training event with the National Guard in which he did not face the Taliban, as pointed out by the Boston Globe earlier, “So he was wrong to state, in last week’s debate against challenger Elizabeth Warren, that he ‘served in Afghanistan.’”

Brown is a lawyer with the Guard not a combat troop, and in the past has trained in his home state. He requested to train in Afghanistan, and some claim that he did this so that he could photo op himself in fatigues instead of the dress uniform a lawyer normally wears.

Brown does technically serve the National Guard by training, but he didn’t bother to explain that he faced no enemies while there. Valor is defined as “Courage and boldness, as in battle; bravery.” Thus, to imply you faced battle when you did not is the spirit of Brown’s own bill regarding stealing valor.

Touche!

It is getting difficult to get a straight answer out of the Governor or President. Still, I thought both were rather funny at the Al Smith Dinner.

But neither of them could hold a candle to Lawrence O'Donnell's monologue to Tagg. That was world class!

Shaw,

Did he say he served in Afghanistan or did he say he fought the Teliban. I believe his statement was he served in Afghanistan which is true.

Princess Warren said she has Indian heritage which was not true so I think you might be confused who is lying.

skudrunner, I'm not surprised that you've shown your ignorance by misinterpreting what KP wrote. He DID not write anything close to what you've claimed. Not only don't you know how to interpret plain and simple statements, you don't know how to read.

KP hasn't a racist bone in his body; and if you don't know this from coming here and reading his comments, you know NOTHING.

You owe him an apology.

I'd prefer that my commenters don't attack each other.

@skudrunner:

After all these years of using the Internet I still forget that satire is easily lost in print.

My post was a dig at Jerry Critter's earlier comment (October 18, 2012 9:52 PM), not Mia Love, whom I admire. JC, no hard feelings.

I may be naive but am learning to be more cynical through a more active participation in the political blogosphere.

Much appreciated, Shaw.

Yesterday Obama went on the stump for women, pointing out how Romney is anti women.
Part of the staging was to have all women behind him while he spoke.
But they were not paid, or forced to stand behind the president. They were happy to do it.
The difference between honest political staging and the dishonest political staging Romney and other Republiscum candidates have engaged in.
