The RNC starts today. Here's its line-up:

I was unexpectedly away for a few days, but back just in time for the RNC debacle:

No platform, and uninspiring speakers, plus Trump showing up each day to tell us what a great job he's doing in piling up more Covid-19 dead Americans, job losses, school closings, unemployment, and overall misery for the American people.

I plan to skip the show and read a synopsis, rather than submit myself to more of Trump's American Carnage.

"The story isn't that Jerry Falwell Jr's wife had sex with someone other than him, it's that the guy she was having sex with had photos of her and then Michael Cohen somehow got the photos and then Falwell suddenly and unexpectedly endorsed Donald Trump."

THE STORY IS HERE.

Apparently, Trump got one of the biggest Evangelical endorsements -- Jerry Falwell -- THROUGH BLACKMAIL!

The sleaze is never-ending.

Doesn't say much good about some evangelicals morals now does it?

The good news is more and more prominent republicans are supporting Biden. Steele and Flake among the most recent... Perhaps there remains a reason to be hopeful that America can return to a semplance of sanity.

RN, Lots of good conservatives are abandoning Trump. Peter Wehner, a Republican, had a good piece in today's NYTimes. I'll post the link here, but it may be behind a paywall. If you'd like to read it, let me know, and I'll email it to you.

I thought about you and a few other Republican friends of mine as I read it. But you, Les, have taken a lot of flak for standing your ground and seeing Trump for the charlatan that he is. I know that YOU know that you're on the right side of history, and it will take people like you and other real conservative to rebuild the GOP after Trumpism.

I still don't know what to make of the folks on those far right blogs who still blindly support and defend Trump. They are truly lost and blinded by their irrational allegiance to this terrible man. I pity them all.

HERE IT IS.

Finally (after a lifetime of corruption) it appears as though the Dotard chickens are coming home to roost. Good news about the lawsuit against the tRump organization, as well as the one against the NRA (hopefully we can get rid of it and Joe Biden can sign some real gun reform). Saw a dad of a Parkland victim speak to the RNC commercial and he blames social justice. Right.

Shaw... did you sacrifice brain cells and watch much of it? The first hour was all I could take. But as you think of what has become the GOP, here's what Trump's base is thinking after the first night.

"I thought the RNC first night was FABULOUS!!! I couldn’t believe how proud of America I felt last night as I watched speaker after speaker… all the speakers just blew my mind! Lots of the night brought tears to my eyes..."

The base loved it. Especially after the GOP platform became "We Support Trump." I wonder where they go for higher praise as this continues? I cried more? Crocodile tears? It was even bestier! More FABULOUS!!!

Dave, I didn't watch any of it, instead I read the summaries of each speaker's time in the spotlight.

I also read the fact-checkers, and most of what the Trumpublicans heard were lies. Who's surprised?

PS I sent you an email at your @ailministry... address.

Derv The corruption around Trump is, in my lifetime, unprecedented/unpresidented! Everyone close to him, now including his children, are either convicted felons, indicted, arrested, or being investigated and served subpoenas.

Yet your Trumpublican commenters at your blog blame Joe Biden? Trumpism truly is a sickness!

Seen on Twitter:

Republican 2020 messaging: "we're not racists. also, black people are going to invade your suburbs. lock and load"

Thanks for providing a link to the excellent article Shaw. The author is, in my opinion spot on. He touched on many points I recognized in trump during his first campaign which is why I refused to vote for him in 2016. A true conservative trump isn't. He is a demagogue totally lacking in values and principles of any kind. Money and the DOW are trump's core and only principles. He will do anything regardless of ethics in support of increasing his wealth.

Not that many will read the fine opinion article you linked but I am posting excerpts from it at my place.
