Convicted felon chooses unqualified scoundrel for America’s Attorney General!

Trump’s pick for Attorney General, Matt Gaetz, has been unable to practice law in Florida three times over the past five years due to failure to pay dues and failure to affirm compliance with trust account rules.

David Frum, conservative writer:

Democratic campaign ad 2026: "Trump appointed a sex trafficker as Attorney General. He appointed a Russian asset as Director of National Intelligence. And he appointed a man who refuses to wash his hands after he goes to the toilet to take care of the health of our troops."

Julius Kim, prosecutor

Matt Gaetz practiced law for two years at a private law firm. That is the extent of his legal career. He has been under legal investigation almost 10xs longer than he’s practiced law. This is not only a disgrace to all Americans, but the legal profession.

GOP Congressman Tony Gonzales
on Matt Gaetz: “He paid minors to have sex with him at drug parties.”

What is the chance America survives. Without becoming Amerika.

Slim to none.

When a narcissistic authoritarian racist and scoundrel runs a country it becomes the chaotic cesspool of his ignorant deluded mind.

We're seeing it unfold daily now. The most is yet to come.

.lSorry folks. Too late. Should have opened your eyes and ears much sooner.

GOP Sen Markwayne Mullin on Matt Gaetz: “The first time I ever met this guy he walked up to me and Kristi Noem was at the podium. We were just elected so we were going through orientation. And he walked up to me and said, ‘Man, she’s a fine b*tch!’”

This is what a fascist takeover of America looks like: NYT CONFIRMS:

The House Ethics Committee — which has been investigating allegations that Matt Gaetz engaged in sexual misconduct and illicit drug use — was prepared to vote to release a highly critical report about Gaetz on FRIDAY.

Gaetz's resignation, just two days before that vote, effectively ends the probe.

Promoting human trash for the highest position in government is how authoritarians rule. Trump himself is man of low and base character, so he is attracted to the same low and base people.

That was the only requirement for their jobs, an utter surrender of self and principles. No talent, knowledge or experience required.

He is a strong man. He demands LOYALTY. These picks are loyalty. Confirming them is a loyalty test for his new empire.”

Here's how one Trump advisor explained the Gaetz nomination to Politico...

“None of the attorneys had what Trump wants, and they didn’t talk like Gaetz... Everyone else looked at AG as if they were applying for a judicial appointment. They talked about their vaunted legal theories and constitutional bullshit. Gaetz was the only one who said, ‘Yeah, I’ll go over there and start cuttin’ fuckin’ heads.’”

The AG is not the president's lawyer. He, or she is the attorney for the people of the United States, the chief law enforcement officer of the land.

That "constitutional bullshit" is the bedrock foundation of our country. to be critical of certain laws is acceptable. To use the expression "constitutional bullshit" is blasphemous in the US.

Unless you've decided to call yourself a disrupter, as some who comment here apparently do.

I just wish they'd be publicly honest and say vengeance, payback and "winning" are more important to them and Trump than our constitution and quit all the "it's a sacred document" and it "must be defended" BS.

This is where we are...

A president who cheated on a wife as she gave birth, cheated on another wife with a porn star and has multiple allegations of sexual assault against himself.

Is supported publicly by a former GOP Speaker of the House who cheated on his wife while she underwent cancer surgery, all the while criticizing a sitting president for his immoralities.

Nominates a guy to be Sec Def who the military felt was unqualified to lead the Veteran's Affairs office and cheated on his wife with a co-worker at a news outlet that recently paid a $750,000,000 settlement for lying on air about the 2020 election.

And nominated a guy to be Attorney General who has three years of experience at small law firm, has been under GOP House Ethics investigation for sex with a minor and transporting her across state lines and has no managerial experience that would lead anyone to believe he can effectively lead a 115,000 member department.

Once again I am reminded of Republican and Evangelical leaders during the Clinton Admin...

Here's what Bill Bennet, Fmr Sec of Education and chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities under President Reagan had to say in his book, the "Death of Outrage"...

"If we are willing to forgive Clinton's lying to cover up a sexual affair, would we excuse any misbehavior on those grounds?" He also said "the American public's failure to be outraged at President Clinton's lies about his private life is evidence of our "moral and intellectual disarmament."

Then Focus on the Family founder and long time leader James Dobson said this at the height of the Clinton scandal in the 90's...

"Private immorality, [and lack of repentance] disqualifies someone from public leadership."

Who knew back then us more progressive folks would long for the good old days?

I'm still waiting for someone or anyone who agreed with them back in the day to tell me whether those were wrong, or lying.

Dave, you've listed these facts about the Republicans' moral preferences in their leaders many times, yet it didn't change their minds. They continue to vote for and support the least moral men for our most important jobs in our country. And IMO, that's because they've compromised their morals in service to their dreams of power.

When Mussolini and Hitler took power, their supporters were enraptured by their strongman promises of a new world order and renewal of their countries' promise of excellence. It's all there in the history books for anyone to read.

Americans believe they are better than the bamboozled Italians and Germans of the 1920s and 30s. We're not. We humans are all the same with the same fatal flaws of being bamboozled by charlatans, liars, cheats, and frauds.

We can no longer say "It can't happen here," because it is happening here right in front of our noses.

Surrender of the ego self IS the only path to true awakening and realization of truth and one's ground of being. The problem with folks like Trump, Gaetz, et all is their sense of an individual self as being seperate from all else. Upon on examination one realizes that is decidedly untrue.

The ONLY thing Trump, Gaetz et all are focused on is the self generated ego and how best to GET ALL THEY desire. And to hell with all else.

Most highly individualistic ego driven personalities, however not all, do not possess the knowledge or talent their ego believes they do. And many of those those that do often direct their talent and efforts at benefiting themselves first and foremost, rather than what is truly good and equitable across all of society.

The old saying we are our sisters and brothers keeper is the only path to true equanimity, peace, and happiness.

Trump demands Fealty, not loyalty. Once the fealty cracks the individual IS GONE.

Folks, it is what it is. For 30% of Trump supporters it is their reified beliefs in bullshit as expressed by Trump that now controls their reactions to all situations. It will likely did with them when they go.
