We now live in a Banana Republic, led by a corrupt, lawless president.

I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!

A.G. Barr is as corrupt as his boss.

Even President Trump has said his former national security adviser lied to the F.B.I.

"Mr. Barr is now saying he cannot prove charges to which Mr. Flynn has twice pleaded guilty in court — and for which there is ample evidence. As for legitimacy and materiality, the F.B.I. was in the middle of a monthslong counterintelligence investigation into possible ties between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.

Mr. Flynn was a top aide to that campaign, and he lied about speaking with the Russian ambassador in a way that undermined the Obama administration, which was still in charge at the time."

"Michael Bromwich, a former Justice Department inspector general, called Thursday “A black day in D.O.J. history.” He’s right. Our institutions have withstood corruption and malfeasance at the highest level, until now. With William Barr at the right hand of Donald Trump, that is no longer assured."

Michael Flynn admitted he lied TWICE! If he were innocent, he wouldn't have admitted to lying to the FBI. Even Trump told the American people he had to let Flynn go BECAUSE HE LIED!

If your blood isn’t boiling, it should be. The rule of law is what keeps democratic societies together. The last four years have proved that in democracies, we are completely reliant on men and women of honor and integrity to hold the system together.

One man alone, even a president, can’t subjugate the system. He needs other compromised men and women too. He needs them to throw their own ethics and integrity out the window, if they had any. He needs pessimists with a nihilistic view of our culture and humanity. He needs McConnell and Barr.

What’s to be done? Hope for the best — and vote — in the short term (voting for individuals with a strong sense of empathy is a good rule of thumb), and teach your family, your kids, and the kids of others about honor and integrity in the long term.

The guilty plea was a plea deal--the least of the charges against him. The other charges can be brought forward by DOJ once the American citizens clean out the pigsty that Barr has made of the DOJ.

Vote the criminals out in November!

Flynn pled guilty to lying to the FBI about his illicit Russian contacts.

His lies do not now become truths.

This dismissal does not exonerate him.

But it does incriminate Bill Barr.

In the worst politicization of the Justice Department in its history.

We Are Living in a Failed State

We Are Living in a Failed State

The coronavirus didn’t break America. It revealed what was already broken.

George Packer Staff writer for The Atlantic

When the virus came here, it found a country with serious underlying conditions, and it exploited them ruthlessly. Chronic ills—a corrupt political class, a sclerotic bureaucracy, a heartless economy, a divided and distracted public—had gone untreated for years. We had learned to live, uncomfortably, with the symptoms.

It took the scale and intimacy of a pandemic to expose their severity—to shock Americans with the recognition that we are in the high-risk category. The crisis demanded a response that was swift, rational, and collective. The United States reacted instead like Pakistan or Belarus—like a country with shoddy infrastructure and a dysfunctional government whose leaders were too corrupt or stupid to head off mass suffering.

The administration squandered two irretrievable months to prepare. From the president came willful blindness, scapegoating, boasts, and lies. From his mouthpieces, conspiracy theories and miracle cures. A few senators and corporate executives acted quickly—not to prevent the coming disaster, but to profit from it.

When a government doctor tried to warn the public of the danger, the White House took the mic and politicized the message. Every morning in the endless month of March, Americans woke up to find themselves citizens of a failed state.

With no national plan—no coherent instructions at all—families, schools, and offices were left to decide on their own whether to shut down and take shelter. When test kits, masks, gowns, and ventilators were found to be in desperately short supply, governors pleaded for them from the White House, which stalled, then called on private enterprise, which couldn’t deliver. States and cities were forced into bidding wars that left them prey to price gouging and corporate profiteering. Civilians took out their sewing machines to try to keep ill-equipped hospital workers healthy and their patients alive. Russia, Taiwan, and the United Nations sent humanitarian aid to the world’s richest power—a beggar nation in utter chaos. ......................

Like a wanton boy throwing matches in a parched field, Trump began to immolate what was left of national civic life. He never even pretended to be president of the whole country, but pitted us against one another along lines of race, sex, religion, citizenship, education, region, and—every day of his presidency—political party. His main tool of governance was to lie. A third of the country locked itself in a hall of mirrors that it believed to be reality; a third drove itself mad with the effort to hold on to the idea of knowable truth; and a third gave up even trying. ............................

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker

UPDATE:

The GOP's demented preznit:

Trump on US businesses reopening: "The whole world is excited, watching us, because we're leading the world." (The US has nearly three times more coronavirus deaths than the second worst country.)

Gov. Charlie Baker

Massachusetts' Republican governor, Charlie Baker, has an 84% approval rating in his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic in a very blue state.

That's because Governor Baker is not a TrumpCultist, but a sane politician.

In any other time, the GOP would be begging Baker to run as their nominee for the presidency. But the GOP has lost its mind and is in thrall to a malignant narcissist who is clearly unfit to be a street sweeper, never mind a POTUS.

We in Massachusetts are fortunate to have a governor who listens to facts and surrounds himself with experts who understand infectious diseases and their spread. You won't hear our governor speculate on injecting disinfectant into the human body as a cure for a virus.

We live in an age where about 30% of the American voting population are thrilled to support a liar, a cheat, and a fraud, who daily whines and blubbers about not being treated faily, while tens of thousands of Americans die.

We can't get rid of the plague of Trumpism soon enough.

Massachusetts residents overwhelmingly approve of Gov. Charlie Baker’s response to coronavirus, new poll shows

Gov. Charlie Baker saw strong support for his administration’s efforts. About 84% of respondents said they approve of how he is handling the coronavirus outbreak in Massachusetts. About 10% disapprove.

The remaining 6% were undecided or declined to answer. President Donald J. Trump saw significantly lower approval numbers in the Bay State. About a quarter of respondents said they approved of the president’s response to the outbreak. About 66% said they disapproved. Just under 9% said they were undecided.

70,000+ Americans dead and the Gooper preznit whines about how badly he's being treated

Trump:

“I am greeted with a hostile press, the likes of which no president has ever seen. The closest would be that gentleman right up there,” Trump said from his perch on a high-backed stool, pointing at the imposing marble statue of martyred president Abraham Lincoln in the background. Lincoln was assassinated in April 1865.

“They always said, ‘Lincoln, nobody got treated worse than Lincoln,’" Trump continued. “I believe I am treated worse.”

Hmmm. Trump whines that he's being treated worse than being shot in his head and dying?

The Crybaby-in-Chief, y'know the blubbering baboon, is the same guy who, for 8 years questioned President Barack Obama's citizenship and claimed Mr. Obama pulled off the biggest fraud in the history of the American presidency.

The Crybaby-in-Chief also said that he had investigators in Hawaii and they were finding unbelievable things about Mr. Obama.

Those "things" never materialized because Trump is a pathological liar, and he never had anyone investigating President Obama's birth certificate.

70,000+ Americans dead because of Trump's incompetence, and he's whining about being treated badly.

AFAIK, Trump never offered a word of condolence or sorrow during his pity party with FAUX NOOZ in front of the Lincoln Memorial. It's always about him, even as thousands of Americans die, millions of American lose their jobs, and the economy goes in the toilet. No inspiring words from the malignant narcissist. Not one.

His fee-fees are hurt because America isn't praising his MISERABLE FAILURES.

Nancy Pelosi CA-12

Americans don’t trust Trump. He failed to listen to experts. From calling it a “hoax” to saying it would miraculously go away in a day — to urging Americans to inject Lysol, he completely mishandled the #coronavirus crisis.

Keith Boykin ✔ @keithboykin Trump:

“They always said Lincoln. Nobody got treated worse than Lincoln. I believe I am treated worse.”

Lincoln was assassinated, but that’s nothing compared to Trump having to answer questions from reporters. - #TrumpTownHall at the Lincoln Memorial

And this is your daily reminder of how colossally stupid the Republicans' president is:

It just doesn’t matter any longer that he’s this stupid, does it? Because when you’re a racist dictator, you get to rewrite it ALL.
