TIM KAINE -- HILLARY CLINTON |
Today's schedule via DNC:
"Monday's events will start at 4 p.m. EST (3 p.m. CST) with the theme "United Together."
"Monday will focus on putting the future of American families front and center and how we're stronger together when we build an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top and when everyone has a chance to live up to their God-given potential.
DREAMer Astrid Silva will share her story and her fight to keep families together," the DNC's website noted.
Keynote speakers will be immigration activist Astrid Silva, Vermont Senator and former Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders and First Lady Michelle Obama."
Massachusetts delegation speakers:
"Boston Mayor Marty Walsh hosts a reception for delegates at 3:30 p.m. followed by his prime time speech to the convention, expected between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. (talk about “pretty good” time slot, huh?).
The Massachusetts connection continues as Congressman Joe Kennedy III will introduce Sen. Elizabeth Warren who will speak later in the evening."

In other news, the Goopers' favorite attention-grabbing embarrassment, a/k/a Ann Coulter, made fun of Americans with "thick accents," but left out the fact that Donald Trump's wife and potential FLOTUS has one of the thickest of thick accents, and like Fareed Zakaria, is a naturalized American citizen.
Ann Coulter is a nincompoop, always trolling for attention, and always making a dumbass fool of herself.
I, too, have speculated about this point and wondered how the "pious" Evangelicals would view this if it were a Democrat. Then I remember that those who continue to support a man who is everything they despise in every other human being -- I remember that they're moral cowards, and that explains their continued support for Trump.
WTF?
"Over the last year there has been a recurrent refrain about the seeming bromance between Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. More seriously, but relatedly, many believe Trump is an admirer and would-be emulator of Putin's increasingly autocratic and illiberal rule. But there's quite a bit more to the story.
At a minimum, Trump appears to have a deep financial dependence on Russian money from persons close to Putin. And this is matched to a conspicuous solicitousness to Russian foreign policy interests where they come into conflict with US policies which go back decades through administrations of both parties.
There is also something between a non-trivial and a substantial amount of evidence suggesting Putin-backed financial support for Trump or a non-tacit alliance between the two men."
Are the rabid radical right wingers who called President Obama "The Manchurian Candidate" paying attention to this? Or is this another instance of IOKIYAR?

The insane trolls are out in force today. I rightly call them insane because they waste their time every day coming here with their illiterate, vile, and sexually explicit comments and think they'll get published.
Albert Einstein had a particularly apt comment about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I believe that was his definition of insanity. I shouldn't have to note that these insane trolls are from the usual rabid radical right wing blogs, but, there, I just did.
Let the Sane Party take the stage. For anyone who hasn't seen this, it's a great read. Wondered about that Putin love.
I'll be watching the democratic convention with only slightly more enthusiasm than I did watching the republican convention (which was none whatsoever). I have yet to hear a unifying vision from either candidate coupled with realistic and achievable expectations or a specific road map for accomplishing their stated objectives.
At this point the only thing I am fairly certain of his HRC will be less dangerous than Donald J. Trump the narcissist ad demagogue extraordinaire.
It will be nice for the grown ups to take the stage. So refreshing from the juvenile, constantly lying morons on the right and their circus. And as more and more comes out about how the Russians and the GOP are working together, all their idiotic speeches will seem even more idiotic and empty. I am so ready to vote for Hillary, already!
What do the rabid radical right wingers have to say about this? They spent the last 7 1/2 years calling Mr. Obama a Commie, and their own candidate Trump is best buds with a real Commie dictator?
Can anyone imagine how many heads would be exploding if candidate Barack Obama had a "deep relationship with Russia and this sort of relationship with a foreign power?
Trump’s deep relationship with Russia has the intelligence community worried.
“Never have we had a candidate so tied to a foreign power, especially one that is so hostile to the U.S. in many ways, and one that is actively messing with our election,” said one former senior intelligence official. “Many [in the intelligence community] don’t care about U.S. politics and pride themselves on being nonpartisan, but the ties to Russia are deeply disturbing.”
Former intelligence officials say that Trump would not be briefed on covert actions or learn about sensitive sources or methods of collecting intelligence, but he could have access to information that would be highly valuable to Putin.
The Intelligence community is very suspicious of Trump and apparently doesn't trust him with highly sensitive data. And who can blame them?
To the Pennyfart troll,
Your comments are deleted as soon as I see your name and they're never read.
Same with the mentally unfit dalcop, TOM.
I guess you don't allow any viewpoint different than your own.
When you play the censorship game you lose all credibility. Just set your blog for invited readers only.
Putin is a fascist, not a "commie". Rather like Trump is. There's very little "commie" about Russia as it is these days. Putin's regime is a classic fascist-style state based on authoritarian rule, a cult of personality, and inflamed paranoid nationalism. Putin has a lot in common with Trump. He's smarter, though.
H.W.W????
First off, you've never been "censored" here because you've never been here before.
Second, it's my blog, and I choose who will comment here. That means I choose NOT to be trolled, and YOU are a troll. And you're boring.
Thanks for the clarification, Infidel753. I wonder where this Trump/Putin connection will go.
Infidel -- I can see why Putin would want Trump in the White House. Putin IS smarter than Trump, and he would play Trump like a fiddle.
As for the Democratic National Convention, Sen. Booker's speech was INTENSE and full of hope, unity, and national pride. His content and tone were completely opposite of those at the Republican National Convention. Michelle Obama's speech was graceful and noble, reminding us that she's far more mature than Trump.
Bernie-Bros notwithstanding, it's gonna be a good week.
Can anyone please tell me why HRC would name Wasserman-Schultz an Honorary Chair of her campaign after we learned the DNC she lead openly favored Clinton over Sanders?
This just pissed off the Sanders voters even more.
Where are her political advisors?
Dave, I never like DWS, and I can't answer your question. Maybe someone else can explain.
Ahab, last night's speakers were indeed dynamic, hopeful, positive and a stark contrast to the doom, gloom, and hateful screamers the RNC presented to the American people.
Our FLOTUS was spectacular, as was Corey Booker, Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie.
Well if there is a hint of disunity inside the Democratic convention it's pretty hard to discern.
Michelle Obama managed to eviscerate Drumpf without even mentioning his name.
They seem to leave the direct attacks to Liz Warren.
Compared to the Repubs first night with Scott Baio it was a huge advantage Dems.
Warren, meh, not so much.
Bernie, he was vintage SAnders.
Michelle Obama, an OUTSTANDING and uplifting address. The women has brains, poise, and class. Look for her possible entry into politics.
