I Agree With This
Andrew Sullivan:
One of the enduring questions of this campaign has been what, if anything, could Donald Trump do or say to be rebuked by his own party. Today, it seems to me, we reached peak insanity – when an actual nominee of a major party called on a foreign government to use the fruits of its espionage to help defeat his opponent. And this was not any foreign government.
It was the government of Russia, a kleptocracy sustained by permanent war. Republicans once insinuated that Democrats were somehow soft on Moscow. And now we have the GOP nominee openly in league with the Russian dictator, brazenly saying he might not defend NATO allies from Russian aggression, suggesting he might recognize Putin’s illegal annexation of Crimea, and bizarrely claiming that Putin had called president Obama the “n-word.”
One candidate in this election is unhinged, treasonous, contemptuous of American liberties, and at war with the core interests of the Western democracies. And an entire political party is refusing to call this out. They are cowards and quislings and pathetic appeasers. Their party deserves to be eviscerated in this election. If it isn’t, if their nominee wins, it will be America that will be eviscerated.
Rational Nation USA blogged on this as well. Go read.

Thanks for the link Shaw.
Trump MUST be defeated. He is not only highly unqualified to hold the office of the presidency in all respects he is a very dangerous demagogue as well as a loose cannon .
He is enough to scare the hell out of any sane person. America will defeat Drumpf.
Les, I hope you're correct.
Amen RN!!
Then there's the "liberal" media, marveling at Donald's savvy. "He's winning the days news cycle, oh yeah, by saying something treasony but he's winning the news". I'm thinking he really could shoot someone on 5th ave. and not only will people still vote for him, there are some in the media who would praise his ability to own the news cycle. I mean, as pres. he could own the history cycle by just lobbing a nuke somewhere. Always the showman.
Craig, Trump is now walking back his treasonous remarks -- remarks that would have ended any other politician's career, and certainly anyone hoping to be POTUS.
I will never understand how any American can support him.
At the risk of alienating many, perhaps even members of my own family, let me offer this in response to your closing sentence above.
They are essentially un-American in their support of a demagogue that is only thinking of the power he would hold as president. Power he would use to to enrich himself and others of his his economic class. The top 0.01% of Americans. Not to mention he would readily deny civil liberties on the excuse of providing security.
Amen RN. A-frickin-men!
Well said!
