"Suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."

These quotes from remarks made by President Obama on the Dallas tragedies are documented here because there are too many people out there who don't know what they're talking about when they lie about what the president said.  The rabid radical right habitually lies about what Mr. Obama says, so they're unreachable, and who cares anyway. They're a sad, irrelevant minority who'll never get it.

So here goes with actual quotes from our American president, Barack Hussein Obama:

Speaking from Warsaw, Poland, Obama condemned violence against police and praised police officers in seven hours after the Dallas attack:

"As I told Mayor (Mike) Rawlings, I believe that I speak for every single American when I say that we are horrified over these events, and that we stand united with the people and the police department in Dallas,"

"And so, to all of law enforcement, I want to be very clear: We know you have a tough job. We mourn those in uniform who are protecting us who lose their lives," --President Obama

There are dozens and dozens of quotes where President Obama comforts and memorializes the deaths of police and other victims of shooting massacres. He's done this eleven times over the past 7 1/2 years.

Read them here.

But no matter how many facts are documented and set out for examination, there will always be a small minority of people who continue to claim that President Obama is a "race baiter," when there is ample proof that is patently wrong. The people who continue to bitterly cling to that lie have something desperately wrong with them, because all facts point to the opposite. No one and nothing will ever convince them of their reckless delusions, nor should we waste our time trying to set them right. They're all lost souls who've made a deliberate choice to walk in the dark flames of bigotry and hatred. They're to be pitied and shunned.

We can and do admire our president for his human decency.

From his speech in Dallas today:

"Scripture tells us that in our sufferings, there is glory, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Sometimes the truths of these words are hard to see. Right now, those words test us because the people of Dallas, people across the country are suffering.

We’re here to honor the memory and mourn the loss of five fellow Americans, to grieve with their loved ones, to support this community, and pray for the wounded, and to try and find some meaning amidst our sorrow. For the men and women who protect and serve the people of Dallas, last Thursday began like any other day.

Like most Americans, each day you get up, probably have too quick a breakfast, kiss your family goodbye, and you head to work. But your work and the work of police officers across the country is like no other. For the moment you put on that uniform, you have answered a call that at any moment, even in the briefest interaction, may put your life in harm’s way."

The rest is HERE.

Go read Rational Nation USA for more on President Obama in Dallas today.

I loved how some at the Mother Ship applauded Pres Bush's words of tolerance and unity, all the while interpreting Pres Obama's words in the worst possible light and admitting complete hate and disgust towards him.

I wonder what part of GW's speech they really liked, because within minutes they were ignoring his wonderful call to come together.

Dave, there will always be a certain percentage of people who choose to walk in ignorance, bigotry, and hate. There's no convincing those folks otherwise who choose to detest Mr. Obama.

I saw a video of former president Bush doing some sort of dance and looking all celebratory during the singing of The Battle Hymn of the Republic at the memorial service. I imagine if Mr. or Mrs. Obama had behaved like that at such a solemn occasion, those same people's heads would have exploded, but since it was Bush and not Obama behaving inappropriately, no one said a word.

That's enough proof of their Obama Derangement Syndrome.

They all remind me of the people who spend their lives re-fighting the Civil War because they can't accept what history shows them.

*Some statistics show that cops kill more white people than black people, but nobody wants to talk about that."

Well d'uh! There are more white people than black people in this country.

I bet more people with brown eyes are killed than with blue eyes too!

President Obama could walk on water, cure cancer and save a million puppies and the right would accuse him of goofing off instead of working. There is simply no hope for the damaged brains that make up the radical right wing morons. None. Zip. Nada.

Frank Bruni in the NYTimes:

"Probably no one agrees with everything President Obama has done in office or before; he's been accused and condemned all the way back to his 'disputed' birth. But the man has handled an impossible job well, with intelligence, grace, and dignity.

He has faced hate, obstructionism, dirty tricks, racism, disrespect, ridicule, and the wreckage left by a truly disastrous predecessor.

"That he wore his disdain for Congress too conspicuously." A Congress whose only agenda was to make the President fail is as useful as a doctor whose only purpose is to kill. GOP Congress has shown him nothing but animosity and disrespect. "Distain" in this case is the mildest self defense.

No. President Obama has not worsened race relations. Racists have accomplished that all on their own."

And a lot of those racists can be found on a certain Mother Ship. Most of them at that sad little blog still believe Mr. Obama is not a natural born citizen and that he's a "secret" Muslim who hates America. One of them even told of his wish to assassinate the POTUS. They're all in the same boat.

Sick, sick bigots.
