On the most solemn week for Christianity...

Trump wishes everyone a "Happy Holy Week!" He's obviously not acquainted with what happens to Jesus during Holy Week, but his far right Christian Evangelicals don't care. Trump's got Bibles to sell, and his willing marks will scoop them up at $60 a pop!

Antonio, in Shakespeare’s MERCHANT OF VENICE:

“The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose.
An evil soul producing holy witness
Is like a villain with a smiling cheek,
A goodly apple rotten at the heart.”

Jesus wants YOU to help Trump pay for his criminal trial obligations this Holy Week.

Act Now!

I have a greater bag of bullshit in my entire life.

A rapist and insurrectionist attempting to sell bibles for one reason and one reason only. To get more cash. That and he knows Hitler, the man responsibke for the Holocaust, was successful playing the church to get his evil blessed. trump is using the same play book. And a good share of the sleeping population of the USA will buy trump's bullshit and fake christianity. As well as spending $60.00 in support of a rapist, insurrectionist, and an accomplished liar.

Apparently trump is just what a "good christian" should be. Right?

"The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose"

Meaning: Bad people can appear to be good to achieve their objective. or even good things can be twisted to achieve bad ends.

Which is what Trump has ALWAYS done with his fake Christianity.

"Imagine if Joe Biden or Barack Obama decided to fundraise off of selling “God bless America” Korans.

That’s how non-Christian Americans feel about the Trump Bible that he’s now selling in order to raise money to run for president.

This is so embarrassing not only for Americans and Trump but for Christian Americans who are being used to bilk money from so that a billionaire can supposedly pay his bills."

"This is "Holy Week" for millions of Christians, ergo Trump sees an opportunity to grift. He's selling King James version which is the most inaccurate of the translations as "America's Bible" with the American Flag draped across the bottom. Only $59.99. Such a deal."

Anonymous said...

Another Trump grift? Donald Trump is now trying to sell Bibles to his supporters on Truth Social.

He claims that every American should own a Bible. Apparently this means Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and atheists should own bibles.

Does anyone really believe that Trump is a Christian? The man who is indicted over 80 times, and who cheated on multiple wives, including one with a porn star, certainly didn’t act like one.

Do people really believe this stuff?

Shaw Kenawe said...

Les, "Apparently trump is just what a "good christian" should be. Right?"

None of us know what's in Trump's heart. We can only understand him by his actions. And his actions are those of a cheat, liar, fraud, and sexual assaulter. You may want to ask a practicing Christian if those are traits one looks for in a "good Christian."

IMO, Trump is the opposite of ANYTHING "good."

Shaw Kenawe said...

Anonymous @9:17 "Do people really believe this stuff?"

Apparently a lot of people do. Especially people who Trump loves and who he calls "the poorly educated."

The "billionaire" needs to raise money. And who better to grift than his marks.

I heard he was going to sell framed copies of the Sermon on the Mount but every time he heard or saw the word "mount" he would start talking about how he wanted to fornicate with his daughter. The Bible wasn't much better for him as he couldn't get enough of the story about Lot being seduced by his daughters. But the story of Sodom is great irony since the deluded fools that buy this Bible are getting sodomized by Trump for $60.00. One of the things they want to outlaw.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Well, to be fair, Trump isn't hawking an upside down Bible in this grift. His cultists can be thankful about that.

Les Carpenter said...

I think i'll do my part. By sending $60.00 to the Biden/Harris campaign. I figure it's the very least i could do in support of Jesus and the kind of governent Jesus no doubt would have approved of. Ya know, that Christian altruism that Jesus taught his apostles and disciples.

I guess trump and his "religous" cultists missed those teachings.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Les

Good idea Les. I'll do the same.

PS. Trump cultists believe in Trump, not Jesus.

Les Carpenter said...

Yes Shaw, trump cultists are not true Christians. They do not believe in the altruism and universal love that Jesus preached. I say this not actually knowing this from personal experience, but rather by their words and their actions in support of a man Jesus would rail against were he alive today. His teachings make that clear. Jesus was not a lying hypocrite. trump is.

So let me get this straight: The guy who cheated on all his wives, who mocked the disabled, who called wounded and dead military "suckers and losers," who stole from charities, and who was found liable for raping a woman and cheating on his taxes is selling Bibles autographed by him during Holy Week?

Did I get that right?

And the people who support him are proud of that?

Really?

As the Christian world approaches Easter Sunday, it's important to stop and reflect on the words of scripture that call us to be better...

Love mercy
Walk humbly
Act justly
Love your neighbor as yourself
Love your enemy
Love your God with all you heart, soul and mind

And then remember that Jesus acted these principles out in his life, all the way to voluntarily giving his life on the cross. So we could be forgiven for our sins.

These are the characteristics we should see from someone claiming to be a Christian. These represent a major part of the call of Christ on our lives and how we should act..

There is not a more sacred week of the year for Christianity.

A politician selling Bibles?

Any politician selling Bibles, based on a political point of view is problematic. A politician doing so who shows no evidence of taking seriously the call of Christ on our lives is more so.

Maybe Trump is not part of this. If so, he should publicly distance himself from this. Absent that, no person of faith should be promoting this, or defending it.

At all.

But hey, that's just me.

The whole Bible-selling grift is just so sleazy, my only response is to ridicule it.

I saw this on Twitter today, and I think it captures the moment we're in at this point in our country:

John Fugelsang

I like when fundamentalist Christians put the 10 Commandments in public schools so children will know God's offended by stealing, coveting thy neighbor’s wife, coveting thy neighbor’s goods, adultery & bearing false witness.

And then they tell these kids to support Donald Trump.

Les Carpenter said...

A politician experiencing financial strife, who never felt the need for forgiveness (trump said that), that is selling bibles only in response to his finanial need and for political gain with the faithful sure is problematic Dave. But the problem rests on his shoulders. In all the negative karma he is creating. The results of his motivations.

First of all, it wasn't a "party" that fired McDaniels, it was a corporation, NBC which is owned by Comcast. A corporation.

And you obviously have no idea why.

"Ronna facilitated Trump's corrupt fake elector plot and his effort to pressure Michigan officials not to certify the legitimate election outcome,” Cheney, a Republican who was vice-chair of the House January 6 committee, wrote on social media. “She spread his lies and called January 6 'legitimate political discourse.' "

McDaniels was part of the plot to overthrow a free and fair election and who repeatedly backed Donald Trump in raising questions about the validity of the 2020 election and helped organize a scheme involving alternate electors. McDaniel raised questions about the validity of the results of the 2020 election, suggested there was “stealing,” helped orchestrate a scheme of alternate electors for Trump and offered the lobby of the RNC for two of Trump’s lawyers to use, where they espoused false conspiracy theories about the 2020 election.

She should be in prison, not getting a two-year buy-out for NBC breaking her contract.

It is NOT the government that pushed her out. That would be against the 1st Amendment guarantee of "free speech." It was the people who WORK at NBC and MSNBC who did not want her working there. They had every right to protest her hiring. There is no legitimate debate when it comes to the fraudulent election stealing claims that RM touted.

Michael Steele, a weekend host and frequent guest host/contributor on MSNBC, was the Republican Lt. Gov. of Maryland and then chair of the RNC.

Morning co-host Joe Scarborough was a Republican congressman from Florida.

Afternoon host Nicole Wallace served in the WH under both G.W. Bush administrations, including as White House spokesperson.

Charlie Sykes and Tim Miller of the Bulwark, a right wing website, are frequent contributors.

Republicans who are invited to appear on MSNBC generally decline or ignore the invitation.

Peter Navarro went on Ari Melber's show to outline his part in the "Green Bay Sweep" plot to steal the election - for which he is now in jail.

Liz Cheney has been on MSNBC numerous times.

MSNBC is way more fair and balanced than, say Fox News is. Let alone Newsmax or OneAmericaNews.

It isn't McDaniel's "views" that people objected to - it was her aiding and abetting in Trump's past and ongoing efforts to overturn the election.

BREAKING: The NBC executive, Jack Donaghy, that hired Ronna McDaniel, has been fired. He's a major donor to the RNC.

Never let a crisis go to waste and never allow anyone to have a different opinion. Look at Joe Lieberman and how the party treated him.
PBS or BBC are the only News channels to watch because the rest are just opinion sites.

Shaw Kenawe said...

skudrunner "Look at Joe Lieberman and how the party treated him."

Actually, have you looked at how "the party" treated Liz Cheney (she voted with Trump 93% of the time), but didn't like what he did on J6 to steal the election from the rightful winner.

Remember how "the party" treated Adam Kinzinger? Or anyone else who dared to go against Trump and Trumpism? You don't mention that.

I don't have cable. I watch BBC and PBS for news.

Hi MarathonMike! Thanks for coming by and reading my blog. You do that often, but I usually delete your comments.

If, as you so artfully put it, "NO ONE GIVES A SHIT!", why do you come here so often, read my wonderful blog, and then leave a comment?

If you or "NO ONE" gave a "shit," you wouldn't be coming here at all.

It's a concept I'm sure that is difficult for you to grasp.

Anyway, you have a sparkling day!

PS. Hope the Easter Bunny is good to you!

JoMala "Truth 101" Kelly said...

Shaw... you mentioned a lineup of ppl on MSNBC that have pretty good conservative credentials. But the MAGA folks don't accept any of those folks.

Their litmus test these days is support for Trump. You can be the biggest budget busting let government control your freedom person, and if you support Trump, you're good.

They can annunciate no policy on any real issue apart from MAGA MAGA MAGA, except the border.

Taxes? Nothing. Deficit? Nothing. Labor? Nothing.

Nothing nothing nothing.

Except maybe free the J6 hostages...

Incredible.

What we have to face is the fact that we're up against a large group of massively uninformed Trumpers (I'm being polite. I really prefer to use a stronger term to describe these folks.)

An example is the troll "MarathonMike" who came to this post and called what I posted, "Garbage, LIES, AND 'DISINFORMATION.' " (I don't think MarathonMike know the difference between "disinformation" and "misinformation."

Anyway, MarathonMike didn't dispute one thing in my post. He didn't come with any evidence countering what was in my post. Nothing. Just shouting in caps as though that refutes what is in my post and proves it's all lies.

Of course, what I posted is true. Trump is hawking his autographed copies of the KJV Bible for 60 bucks a pop during Holy Week to help him pay attorney fees piling up over his criminal indictments.

MarathonMike is symptomatic of MAGAs: They're naive, easily duped by a very clever con artist, and horribly misinformed about almost everything to do with Trump and his sleazy history of cheating, lying, and defrauding his marks, of which, it appears, MarathonMike is one.

They are proud to be a mark Shaw.

Gullibility is a hallmark of MAGA cultusts. I never stated trump was stupid because he isn't. He's aware of the human condition and knows very well what it takes to tap into the concerns and fears folks have. And, he's an expert at manipulation of those concerns and fears so as the acheive financial as well as other perceived benefits for himself.

It is not America he loves or the people of America he loves. It is himself and only himself that he loves.
