I'm loving the MAGAts whine about Biden's "mean speech". He gave them the scolding they richly deserve.
Katie Britt's response was as devoid of mind, heart and life as her empty kitchen set from IKEA.

I'm sure Michelle Dugger would approve.
Biden did what he needed to do.
If he fired up democrats and independents (independents hold the key) all across the fruited plains we just might have another 4 year long successful run. And with a little luck a unified government in the capable hands of payriotic and sensible democratic leadership.
Well, we can hope anyway.
A lot will depend i think on how successful President Biden is at sustaining the fire and momentum he showed last evening.
As tRump babbles incoherently his rage at being called out by a far more intelligent and capable man.
Great speech from Biden. Sad rebuttal from Ms. Britt but hypocrisy is a foreign concept to most republicans. Ironic since they hate foreigners except for Melania but they've seen her naked so that makes it okay with them. And she did marry for the money so they respect that as well.
So... did Biden yell a lot of his speech? Yes he did. I think when he's speaking forcefully, or in this case, yelling, I think he better controls his stutter.
Did he have some flubs? Yes he did.
Peggy Noonan who has been critical of Biden in the past, likening him to a "cranky old Joe" likened him to Harry Truman and his "give 'em hell" persona. Noonan, the speechwriter for Reagan who penned Reagan's famous Boys of Pointe de Hoc 40th anniversary of D-Day speech.
Did he get his message across? I guess we'll see. But ask yourself this...
No GOP person stood at Biden's call to oppose Putin. Not. A. One. Reagan is rolling over in his grave.
When Biden spoke of the importance of democracy here and abroad, they remained sitting.
When he spoke of the recent border bill that the GOP asked for and negotiated, he was called a liar. But GOP Sen Jim Lankford, who authored the bill, nodded in agreement with Biden and mouthed to Biden, "it's true."
When he asked for America to stand against political violence, the GOP sat still.
When he said you cannot love America only when you win, not a single GOP member stood in agreement.
When Biden said we are and we need to "buy American", not a single GOP member stood in agreement.
When he asked to lower the cost of medicines like insulin for Americans, not one GOP member stood in agreement.
They sat mostly in stony silence. All. Night. Long.
And they sat, fully on display to the American people as the recalcitrant people they are.
Perfect speech? Not at all. Pretty good? It looked like, flubs and all.
Let's add this... All through the 2020 campaign, Trump spoke about how his long rallies and speeches were evidence of his vitality, strength and command of the issues.
Biden spoke last night for 77 minutes.
Now they're complaining he was too energetic or on drugs.

Because if you've signed onto the 'fetal personhood" movement within the "Pro-Life" movement, you're stuck having to oppose IVF too.
Unless you choose to oppose the goals of the anti Roe crowd.

I can only come to the logical conclusion that the current Republican Party (Trumpublican Party) is an anti-democracy, pro-Russian/Putin, anti-women party. They are a minority.
And yes, Ronald Reagan and every true Republican who existed before Trump defiled and destroyed that party, agrees with the fact that Trump and his cultists are on a trajectory to completely and fundamentally change this country into their version of a Christian Nationalist state, IF they regain the WH.
We saw that last night by their appalling anti-democracy/American behaviors.

Meanwhile, the nominee for the Republican Party, Trump the Adjudicated Rapist, was grubbing around looking for a donor to help him pay the $91 million bond to file notice to appeal in the E. Jean Carroll case.
The bond was needed to prevent Carroll's attorneys from trying to seize Trump's assets while he appeals a New York jury's $83 million defamation verdict.

President Biden delivered the goods time and time again and some previous Biden voters are considering Trump?
Trump was the only president ever to leave office with a net loss of jobs produced. He couldn’t even navigate the pandemic, advising people to inject bleach as a cure. He's also an adjudicated sexual assaulter/rapist and tax fraudster and is facing 91 felony counts.
If you want to understand how Trump has taken a once proud political party and forced it into a sewer, just read that again.
Can you imagine in our lifetimes having those words written about someone running for the highest office in the land? And people actually considering voting for the crook?

I've read that the Chubb Company put up the bond for Trump.
Apparently Trump isn't a billionaire.

Hospitality is an over leveraged business subject to the whims of the economy. Trump and many like him operate on borrowing and cash flow. They really don't have much cash laying around. Their premise is to simply borrow more to maintain a lifestyle. Success to Trump is measured by how much he can get a bank to lend him. I have no idea what properties he owns or has interest in are worth. But I would be pretty confident his actual net worth is either quite low or even in a negative state. But he's an expert in getting someone to float him money. Gotta give him that. Just like he exploits bigots, homophobes and religious zealots by telling them the crap they want to hear. Doesn't say much for the banks that are willing to buy into his line of big profits if they lend him money the balance sheets show they shouldn't be lending him. As for a fair amount? 12 to 17% rate is what I come up with without researching budget and gnp. Personally I've paid between 9 to 12% the last few years and it's not hurt me at all. I don't know what your financial situation is and I am well aware it is none of my business, but I know of nobody in all my years who's life was bettered or worsened by either a tax cut or hike. I pay taxes as do almost 50% of American's and have no issue with paying them. How do billionaires avoid them, they have the resources to avoid them because it is legal in our tax code. Your statement about the resources to avoid taxes is correct and I have no issue with that. many very wealthy people avoid income taxes by staying leveraged and using that as income for their expenses. That's why I support a wealth tax in addition to a flat tax. Your statement about money wasted by government is meaningless right wing drivel. All they can come up with is to cut Social Security and Medicare. The very programs that benefit a huge number of our population. And those that don't earn enough to pay income taxes still pay sales taxes. Property taxes and all the other government fees.
I have no problem with success. It takes balls to put your name on the dotted line and take the risk of running a business. But the success of that business is just as reliant on our system as it is on the business plan of the business people. Not to mention the professional athletes that make millions. Of course they work hard at their craft but because one is blessed with the talent to hit a major league fastball or run 40 yards in four seconds mean they should be paying less? They will just keep spending and raising the debt limit as long as taxpayers allow it. Term limits, balanced budget amendment and Fair Tax are three things that will bring some control to an uncontrollable congress. Politicians have three goals, spend your money, get more of it and keep their cushy job.

We do need to modify SS and raise the age requirement and we do need to fund medicare better by lowering the percent and make it for all income earned. That would help the less fortunate and do what you want and punish the successful.

See, a modern industrialized society with over 320,000,000 people, encompassing the land mass of the USA, with its need for massive infrastructures, military, and need for an inclusive social network that includes health-care and so many more services needs a robust and FAIR tax system. Going back to the tax code during DDE's term might just balance our budget, improve our innfrastructure, improve health-care and other needed services, and keep us the strongest and freest nation on the planet.
But yeah, i know. Trickle down, right? Not. Cause it's the damn reason were so screwed up now. But of course the republicans reified and archaic belief system in old world models will keep us right were we stand. Or, much worse.
