On January 5, 2021, Mr. Biggs went to DC to where he instructed his fellow domestic terrorists to "blend in" and "get ready for tomorrow, we have a plan."
On January 6, 2021, Mr. Biggs executed his plan. He cut down fencing, used walkie-talkies to communicate with other terrorists, and was among the first to breach the Capitol. Once inside, he made a video where he bragged, "this is awesome."
By most accounts he entered through the Senate side where a window had been smashed out with a police riot shield.
On January 18, 2021, Mr. Biggs admitted to the FBI that he entered the Capitol on Jan 6. He was arrested, allowed home confinement, and was finally tried over a 3-month period ending in May 2023.
Biggs was found guilty of seditious conspiracy; obstructing an official proceeding and criminal conspiracy thereto; conspiracy to prevent an officer from discharging any duties; interference with law enforcement during civil disorder; and destruction of government property.
Judge Timothy Kelly ruled that Biggs' destruction of a fence separating rioters and police qualified the defendant for "a terrorism sentencing enhancement sought by prosecutors," who asked for a 33-year sentence.
Prior to sentencing, Biggs apologized to the court, blaming his actions on personal and familial difficulties, and conceded that "I know that I have to be punished, and I understand".
After being convicted by a jury of his peers, on August 31, Judge Kelly sentenced Biggs to 17 years of federal imprisonment.

If Trump wins in November, one of his first acts will be to pardon Joseph Randall Biggs and his fellow domestic terrorists.

Let's remember, all those sentenced have either pled guilty to their crimes, or gone to court and been found guilty.
Michael Steven Perkins, 40, of Plant City, Florida, was sentenced to 48 months in prison and 36 months of supervised release. He was found guilty of, among other charges, assaulting a federal officer with a deadly or dangerous weapon and civil disorder.
Joshua Christopher Doolin, 25, of Lakeland, Florida, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and 36 months of supervised release on a number of charges. He was charged with assaulting a police officer with other rioters—some of whom remain at large, and one of whom was allowed to attend his wedding in 2021.
Salvador Sandoval, Jr., 26, of Ankeny, Iowa, was sentenced to 88 months in prison, 36 months of supervised release, and ordered to pay $2,000. He was found guilty of four counts of assaulting Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers, one count of obstruction of an official proceeding and one count of civil disorder.

Don't celebrate and revere generals who tried to destroy the USA in service of maintaining slavery.
Don't call people who beat US Police officers hostages because they were found guilty of breaking the law and are in prison. They're criminals, not hostages. And don't support politicians who do.
Don't be, or support politicians who call people animals. Even when you disagree with them. Think of the Golden Rule and the admonition of Jesus who said even calling someone a disrespectful name was murder.
Don't impute bad motives on people because of bad results.

In the past conservatives said that character mattered for people running for public office. Conservatives said, especially during the Clinton Impeachment, that private moral failings disqualified someone from public office.
Were conservatives wrong back then? Or were they lying?
I could go on... but added to yours, if principled conservatives stood up for these values, and answered my question, we'd be light years ahead of where we are today.
Wonder what happened between Trump and Giuliani for TRump not to give him a pardon. Association with Trump never seems to end well. You either end up broke and disgraced or in jail. Those REAL Conservatives left the Republican Party after Trump transformed it into an organization that welcomed AND CELEBRATED white supremacists, antiSemites, misogynists, racists, and a malignant narcissist who was found liable for sexual assault/rape, defamation of character, tax fraud, and is facing 91 felony charges, among which are the theft of top secret government documents.
Less than 20 years ago, if anyone had said the Republican Party would get in the gutter with a character like Trump, Republicans would have shunned and shamed the person who said that, and labeled that person insane.
Yet, here we are. And what we believed were our reasonable, rational, democracy-loving fellow Americans have made this abominable and indecent man into their hero.
