Les, America lost its soul when it reelected George Bush after he lied us into a war of aggression, and instituted torture and detention without charges. Our karmic comeuppance has come due. Trump is the final nail in democracy's coffin, proving it can be disintegrated so easily by an alliance with Putin and their tag team of massive industrial scale disinformation. We now have front row seats at the final fall of a republic. I'm grateful to have had a full life when democracy reached its peak. RIP USA.
Come to think of it it should become law that no felon should serve time. As Donald Trump famously said: I cou l d shoot somebody on 5th Avenue NYC and nobody would care. And now, a felon as well as Predisent of the US again.

Well, i heard VP Harris' remarks today at Howard University. It is clear she isn't going to throw in the towel. We'll see her again on the National Stage. Her remarks i thought signaled future plans for high office. 2028 is only four years away. Dems need to keep their enthusiasm in high gear and strategies for the future and eventual defeat of the Trumpublican Party.
The hard right has been lusting for this moment. The monster will have a comfortable plurality in the House coupled with a moderate-proof majority in the Senate. We will not see a repeat of the bumbling chaotic mess we saw in 2017. The monster has a huge organization working for him including minds that are far more sound and capable of planning than his own. Repeal the ACA. Rewrite the tax code or even eliminate income tax, (not sure how that would fly.) Pardon every convicted violent felon who is a J6 hostage. The nutjob RFK Junior as Surgeon General or similar. All of the projection and doublespeak we have heard as republicans complain of weaponization of the DOJ. The list is staggering.
I don't need to speculate as to the far-reaching consequences.

The only thing that lightens my pain in knowing what is coming is the knowledge that their karma will ultimately be their judge. It won't be pretty for them I'm sure as their eventuual pain will far exceed that which they plan on exacting on the country and it's people.

Les, If you are that disgusted with the US maybe it would help you if you moved to Bhutan because you seem to like a monarchy where wearing shorts and sale of alcohol is prohibited. It is an enlightened country and you would be happy there and I'm sure they would welcome you. It is indeed a beautiful country with gracious people, lots of temples and awesome customs and dress.
The monarchy in Bhutan is certainly more in line with kindness, compassion, bodichitta, more in touch with truth and reality thr. Trump abbdm his party ever has been or ever will be.

Les, Of course you are correct that in spite of visiting Bhutan on business I know little about the country. Thimphu has a number of temples that you will find fascinating and like you they are not huge supporters of the US.
That may or may not mean you understand their culture and way of life. But you did observe what your host wanted you to see.
I could most likely live and thrive in their culture once I understood their language w/little problem. Every bit as well, with less stress and anxiety than I likely will experience under the looming rRump regime and budding MAGA dynasty.

But it is curious. In 2020 the election was "rigged" and an insurrection followed Trump's loss. Encouraged by Trump himself.
