Rittenhouse is the vigilantes of the Right’s O.J. Simpson.

Jeff Tiedrich on Twitter:

“It’s lucky for Kyle Rittenhouse that he was just a bloodthirsty white teenager crossing state lines to literally commit murder, and not, for example, a black man selling loose cigarettes on a street corner, because there are serious consequences for that.”

He may be free, but he won't have a happy life.

Jerry... don't be so sure. He'll get his 15 minutes of fame of FOX and FOX friendly stations, become an icon to 2nd Amendment ppl, probably win a wrongful prosecution suit for a lot of bucks and more.

Maybe he will. Maybe he will work to right a wrong. Maybe not.

It's hard to say...

Sad but true.

Interesting. My oldest son (who followed this extensively) and my better half both believe he acted in self defense after attempting to to quiet the " mob. My son truly believes Kyle would have been beaten, possibly to death had he not acted as he did.

Guess the jury of his peers saw it sorta like that too.

I remain undecided on this one. As well a bit unnerved that the "court of public opinion" may be becoming such an uncontrolled emotional force as to actally become an evil in and of itself if allowed to run unchecked.

Staying on the theme of the post, and connecting to the John Wayne book I referenced in the prior post, here's a quick read, complete with snark, from Charles Blow of the NY Times...

Charles Blow on Rittenhouse and vigilantes

Kyle is neither of which Mr. Blow referenced he is considered to be by the right. He IS the combined product of parental, educator, and a myriad of social influences and conditioning.

IOW, Kyle acted as he believed appropriate, based on his conditioned societal perspective. So, is Kyle, who didn't "go looking for somebody to kill" the quilty party in this instance is society the guilty parties?

What I know is this, until this American society truly lives by the truth we are all brothers and sisters and to do no harm not a GD thing will ever really change.

The issue shouldn't have been whether, in the split-seconds before firing, Rittenhouse genuinely felt in mortal danger but how he had created danger in the first place by needlessly inserting himself, and his loaded rifle, into an already tense situation. — Lawrence Tribe

The society that created the conditions in which his actioms are considered acceptable are responsible at some level for this tragedy. Again, until the society that created and allows these tragic circumstances to become commonplace "get it" this s^hit will continue and get worse.

The entire tRump right wing facist republican party and the NRA bear a huge responsibility for this.

Put THEM in jail.

When someone takes a gun to a riot nothing good will happen and it didn’t. Blame him the governor, the mayor the media and the rioters. Can’t blame the legal system on this one but no doubt is is trumps fault as everything is according to some.
