Accounting Firm Cuts Ties With Trump and Retracts Financial Statements

Accounting Firm Cuts Ties With Trump and Retracts Financial Statements

The firm, Mazars USA, said in a letter that it could no longer stand behind the annual statements, which are central to an investigation by the New York attorney general.

Trump’s history of fraud will now be exposed. It’s one thing duping voters and MAGA sycophants; it’s surely another to try to defraud banks and insurance companies. Not only should they recall Trump’s loans, but no bank, insurance company, or financial entity should do business with his failing organization ever again. And that’s as it should be.

If any American lied to their bank about assets to secure a loan, they’d be in big trouble. Let’s see what happens to the Trump crime family.

Trump's former accounting firm implies that Trump gave them numbers and the numbers he gave do add up BUT they do not know if the numbers he gave them are, in fact, truthful. So the accountants, just like everyone else's accountants, can only work with the numbers that they are given. It's up to the client to deliver the numbers properly and factually. If the client lies, the accountants have no way of knowing. It's not up to them to investigate. The report points out that Trump's accounting firm does not believe Trump anymore.

How did someone like Trump, who was and is entangled in numerous lawsuits, ever make it through the vetting process before being allowed to run as a presidential candidate for the former Republican Party?

A person with a business history like Trump is certainly more at risk for blackmailing and cover-up attempts -- the Stormy Daniels scandal was in that category -- than acceptable for the position of the most powerful person in the world, controlling the most deadly weapons on this planet.

Every day there’s a new outrage from Trumplandia. What’s particularly tedious is the number of calcified and comical supporters this criminal has hoodwinked into believing he’s some sort of powerhouse or patriot.

Trump’s neither, never was, and absolutely never will be.

The same can be said for his opponent. Both of them have been proven to be crooks and pond scum. Some day the American voter will be given a choice on who is the best candidate instead of voting against the worst. It has been decades since that was the case and it doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon.

Both parties are being controlled by the extremes and it is time for reasonable people to take control.

After working for over 32 years in the non profit world, I can only come to the conclusion that non profits are held to a MUCH higher standard when it comes to their "books". We had to have an audit performed every year that included having around 4-5 staff from the accounting firm take up residence at our office for 2-4 weeks with access to our computers, going over every bit of financial and governance information. I had to provide them with minutes of all our governing board and committee meetings and send out letters to all our outside counsel for them to verify that we had no legal proceedings filed against us.

It looks like in the for profit world, the company just sends records to the accounting firm for them to verify? If that's the case, I can see how easy it would be for someone to "cook the books".

I'm a bit perplexed about an accounting firm saying that the past 10 years of financials for one of their clients are not reliable. Did they know that at the time? Or are they now trying to cover their asses?

For this statement to be true, please supply us with the criminal investigations and indictments against Hillary Clinton, or Barack Obama.

Otherwise what you wrote is another one of your made-up stories of "bothsiderism" b.s.

This country has two sets of laws. One for the wealthy and one for the rest of us.

Another example of how America is NOT an exceptional country. America, i.e. Americans, through the electoral college, voted for and put in office a grifter and soon to be found out criminal, a Liar, a Cheat, and a Fraud.

tRump has created a mountain of negative karma through his dishonest deceitful business transactions, his misogyny, his support of white supremacists, his sedition and insurrection attempts, rampant narcissism, and so much more.

Those still supporting this piece of human excrement likely have as much negative karma as their Orange Hero.

skuddybuddy is again blowing smoke rings from his posterior. As is customary with him. No link to credible supporting evidence to prop up his clams has ever been supplied by him. EVER.

So, his claims can only be considered delusional bull**it.

Anonymous @12:51,

It's actually magical thinking on skud's part. Hillary Clinton has not been indicted on any criminal charges, and afaik, she's not being criminally investigated by any attorney general of any state. When skud lumps Hillary "...his [Trump's] opponent..." in with Trump it's really an acknowledgement of how crooked and lawless Trump is and always was, but in order to make that correct statement without being untrue to his narrative, he has to include Democratic politicians for his "bothsiderism" b.s.

Barack Obama was NEVER impeached, nor did any of his team get criminally indicted and sent to jail (unlike, say, in Ronald Reagan's administration and The Former Guy's administration).

And it goes without saying, but I'll say it: Neither Hillary nor Barack EVER encouraged sedition against America -- unlike the dishonorable and shameful Trump did!

The problem is that folks like skud and the people who comment at the far right blogs refuse to see the simple truth: Trump is a CROOK! A Liar, A Cheat, and A Fraud.

If you believe someone can earn 100 k trading commodities in a few days with no experience a charity pays for someones lifestyle and a daughters outrages salary with nothing illegal or unethical being done you have a point. I guess the latest durham report is false then I guess trumps opponent is without fault. I don't remember the swell guy being an opponent to trump so not sure why you have to bring him up.

I guess, in your eyes, only one of them is a crook and your opinion is shared by the majority of the media who we know is non biased.

skud: "I guess the latest durham report is false..."

You know NOTHING about the ongoing investigation, and neither do millions of other Americans, including myself.

You've only heard what the right wing noise machine has sent out to prejudice you and have you make silly statements like the above.

The Durham Report is not over; it is a highly complicated matter that CANNOT be described in sound bites or simple little sentences by anyone.

If I thought you were serious, (and I'm sorry to say I don't think you are because you continuously come here and make assertions backed up by NOTHING.) How do you expect anyone to take seriously allegations you make? Are you an expert? Do you know the intricacies of the Durham Report? What it was initially tasked to do? I don't think so.

Here is a non-biased discussion of the Durham Report. It is a long, intricate, complicated report, but there is one section where you can skip over the long legal details of its commission and jump to what legal experts in the field of espionage, psy ops and other details know about what it was tasked to do.

Believe me when I tell you that your throw-away statement "I guess the latest Durham report is false..." shows a complete and utter lack of knowledge of what that report is about.

...the entire narrative appeared to be mostly wrong or old news — the latest example of the challenge created by a barrage of similar conspiracy theories from Mr. Trump and his allies.

Upon close inspection, these narratives are often based on a misleading presentation of the facts or outright misinformation. They also tend to involve dense and obscure issues, so dissecting them requires asking readers to expend significant mental energy and time — raising the question of whether news outlets should even cover such claims. Yet Trump allies portray the news media as engaged in a cover-up if they don’t."

skuddy apparently knows a lot about delusions ans obscurations. It's only natural he would. Spending as much of his time in make believe as he apparently does.

The only people pushing the Durham report story are the people who watch FOX, the cable news people whose own lawyers said no one with any sense believes what their biggest paid star Tuker Carlson says. IOW, Carlson is a lying pos and he's the most popular with the Fox audience.

skud probably got his info from Fox. And he probably will regret believing those liars.

Millions of Americans supported Jim and Tammy Baker even after they went to jail. His supporters pay no attention to these kinds of reports.

It astounds me how quickly and hoe breathlessly Skidmark and his fellow knuckle-draggers and droolers from the radical right resort to 'bothsiderisms' at the drop of a hat. Do they really think this helps their postition? Really? It is so obviously absurd that, to me, it just appears the unmistakable mark of a desperate, ethically empty person. Then again, it is Skidmark we're talking about . . .

Ray, I haven't been paying that much attention to the Durham Report, but leave it to the FAUX NOOZ people to pretend it's something every American is curious about.

I think it's way past its "sell by" date.

skud obviously listens to or reads far right cable news or other media. They're the only ones pushing the lie that Hillary "spied" on Trump. And it is a lie!

"Phony Republican Scandals Harm Democracy

So far, the Durham investigation hasn’t turned up much of substance. You wouldn’t know it watching cable news.

That brings us back to Durham, who was appointed in 2019 to review the government’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election for possible misconduct. The latest news — and it’s a stretch to call it news — was a filing made last week, which after a series of misinterpretations and embellishments wound up getting falsely trumpeted by Republicans as evidence of a conspiracy between Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the FBI and who knows who else to illegally spy on Donald Trump. In an epic Twitter thread, privacy expert Julian Sanchez reads Durham’s contribution and notes that “nothing in the filing supports breathless claims technically illiterate cable hosts are making. It does not allege anyone ‘hacked’ Trump computers, or was paid to ‘infiltrate’ networks, or that anyone ‘intercepted e-mails and text messages.’”

[skip]

we have leading Republican politicians talking about imprisoning various Democrats for malfeasance that appears to be entirely imaginary (and at any rate certainly isn’t found in the court filing that they claim to be discussing). There’s no chance that they’ll propose any plausible reforms, because nothing they’re talking about has any basis in reality. Worse, there’s very little chance that anyone else will address what Sanchez considers a “legitimate policy issue” because, as he points out, the “coverage from right-wing media is a technically illiterate conspiracy corkboard covered in yarn, and the mainstream coverage thus far has mostly been about pointing out why that’s silly and wrong.”
