Can anyone explain to me why Trump keeps repeating this lie?
Why would anyone believe ANYTHING coming out of Trump's lying mouth OR his administration?
I don't. I believe nothing he says until it is verifiable; therefore, I assume everything he claims is a lie, including his denials about Epstein and Maxwell.
"Trump's claim is false." IOW, it's a lie. And he's repeated this lie numerous times, so it isn't "misspeaking."
He must believe his supporters are dumb as rocks. Why else would he continue to lie so boldly?

To say nothing of Treasury Sec Bessent admitting today that the $1000 accounts for new kids born in the states is a "back door to privatizing Social Security", long a GOP fever dream, in spite of the FACT that Americans do not want it privatized.
After trump said he'd never touch our "beloved" Social Security.
These guys make liars blush.
At this point in his life I'm not sure Trump can help himself.
At first I'm confident lying was a power game, something to do to the 'little' people, will they swallow what he told them or believe their lying eyes? But now?
Trump's grip on reality is slipping, his heirs apparent are circling in the wings. There are whispers on the air that Vance's urgent visit to the Murdoch abode was less damage control and more plotting.
I find lying exhausting. I have a hard enough time keeping reality straight especially with fibro fog (my own), and the increasing dementia symptoms of the bf and mother. I do my best not to lie, as I said, exhausting to keep track of what was said to which person.
Of course I'm contentious. Trump no longer cares and it shows. What is wrong with his fingers and hands? The American Public have a right to know - isn't that the metric used on Biden? Well, chop chop, transparency time!
His entire career was built on lies - who can forget 'The Art of The Steal'? If he were truthful, he would just be another normal human - surround himself with
capable people rather than obedient puppets and represent all constituents and not be driven for the need for revenge.
Unfortunately the idiot who can't help himself is certainly doing a bang up job of shredding the fabric that once allegedly made us one. Anymore its getting harder and harder to believe that was anything but an illusion.
Trump, Project 2025, the disgusting gop leadership and MAGA cultists will be the ultimate demise and eventual dissolution of the USA.
