This was a pretty accurate assessment of Bondi’s appearance at the Senate’s Oversight Committee hearing yesterday:

BRUCE LINDNER:

Until yesterday, I had always assumed Pam Bondi was just another corrupt sycophant who oozed out of the Florida muck and found herself caught up in the even more corrupt world of Donald Trump.

Boy, was I wrong.

Her performance before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday came as a real revelation to me. Seeing her perform her shtick removed the scales from my eyes.

She’s a pro. A natural-born crook. Rather than being the lone semi-rational one of Trump’s appointees, she’s every bit as corrupt as the man she sat there and lied for for nearly five hours.

Thirty minutes or so into it her appearance before the committee, I posted online; she’s “devious, deceptive, dishonest, manipulative, lying, arrogant, evasive gutter trash.”

Little did I know at that time, those were her more positive attributes. As the hearing dragged on, and she refused to answer even the most innocuous questions, she became more and more belligerent. Virtually every question asked of her by a Democrat was met with a personal insult.

In fact, later in the afternoon, some sharp-eyed reporter got a close look at her hand-written notes, revealing not only the canned response to a specific question, but also a pre-written insult to each particular Senator asking the question. There was one custom-tuned for Richard Blumenthal, one for Dick Durbin, one for Peter Welch, a string of backhanded snark for Amy Klobuchar.

But she saved her best venom for Adam Schiff, who, along with his sharp staff, was having none of it. He fired back at her a list of questions from the panel that she had up to that point, refused to answer. That’s when her composure started to crack.

During an exchange with Peter Welch about Tom Homan accepting a $50,000 bribe from undercover FBI agents last year, things got particularly testy:

Senator Welch: "First of all, is there a tape that has audio and video of the transfer of the $50,000?”

Bondi: "You would have to talk to Director Patel about that.”

Welch: "No, I'm talking to you.”

Bondi: "I don't know the answer.”

Welch: “You do know the answer."

Bondi: "Don't call me a liar!"

Such a lovely person. She has all the charm of a cobra, the same dedication to ‘truth and justice’ as the crook who appointed her, and she’s the chief law enforcement officer of the land.

In her defense, if she WASN’T as vile, as corrupt, as offensive as she displayed to the world yesterday, she would be of no use to Donald Trump. Her poisonous persona and skills at evasion and insult is her secret sauce.

Just like her boss.

I’m sure he gave her two thumbs up after her appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday.

Only "the best".

And speaking of Bondi…

Didn’t she announce a fraud investigation into “Trump University” in the Fall of 2013?

And didn’t Trump donate $25,000 to a Bondi re-election group a few days later?

And didn’t Bondi then announce she would NOT investigate “Trump U.”?

Just asking questions.

The standard for serving in the cabinet for a POTUS used to be even the appearanceof dishonesty/impropriety was a disqualification for anyone who was nominated. That was pre-Trump. Now if you’re crooked, corrupt, or unqualified, you’re good to go because you’re exactly what the Trump administration wants as the head of a Cabinet post.

Bondi is corrupt, and she made a fool of herself in front of the world. That does not bother MAGA, because they chose a convicted felon/sexual assaulter, liar, cheat, and fraudster, and a man who partied for 15+ years with actual child rapists to head this country. MAGA see nothing wrong Bondi. How could they?

You get what you pay for.

Aparently Amerika wants corruption.

Here's the problem, Part 78,543...

A comment from a MAGA lover and enabler...

"Many in U.S., and in the rest of the world, have a perception that politics is a weapon to be used to force acceptance of a political belief."

So far, so good. Then in the next sentence, we get this...

"They use them [political weapons] with malice, and think that’s what Trump will do."

No self or tribe awareness at all...

Indeed Dave.

The most difficult challenge for most people, including me, is to look inside, and as a result recognize themselves, their conditioning, their biases, their fears, their delusions, their own ignorance, and how all that affects everything they touch, and engage with.

Some recognize, accept, and diligently strive to overcome. Then there is the blind... they're known as MAGA.

Les... we're all blind sometimes. It's hard to admit when we're wrong. It's also hard to admit and accept that sometimes those for whom we did not vote, can do good things.

For example, I know many ppl on the left are rightly skeptical of the deal to end the war in Israel. Reagan used to say "trust, but verify". I think we should do that in this case. It's a first step, admittedly small, but a first step. And if anyone thinks the left would not be singing the praises of Biden were he to have got this far with a deal, they're nuts. So at this point, I say, to the consternation of my amigos, good job Trump.

In the same vein, the GOP opposed Obamacare with tooth and nail. But the fact is, millions of people in the US have been able to afford health care who otherwise would have gone uninsured. Then they would have taxed our urgent care and ERs and ultimately cost all of us more money. But as good as it has been, my amigos on the left refuse to acknowledge anything good about it and instead of working to destroy it, work to make it better.

We've allowed ourselves to dive into a terrible place, one I am not sure from which we can escape. All of us...

We've been on the path to where we're at now for some time now. At least 75-80 years if not longer.

The unholy marriage of capitalism and Christianity, (going back to the Protestant/Calvinist reformation) started the slog away from the actual teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. And back in the 80's the mega Evangelical Churches really accelerated it with their Properity Gospel and support for Christian Nationalism. And tRump m, like Hitler, is using Christian Nationalism to spread his hate and division.

You may be right, there may be no way out of the nation's slide into political and spiritual insanity. One thing seems certain, it will be a long time before the nation recovers and perhaps returns to a safer and freer society with greater liberty, compassion, wisdom, empathy, and love. Things tRump, Project 2025, MAGA, and fascism have sucked the air out of.
