A Daily Reminder...

of what a jerk the current POTUS is:

Donald Trump is so rich. Big-league (bigly?) wealthy.

So wonderfully wealthy that he apparently owes a Miami paint store $300,000 for work at his Trump National Doral Miami resort.

So wealthy he's been fighting not to pay that $300,000 since last year.

So wealthy that his lawyers officially lost an appeal yesterday and now he's gotta pay that $300,000 or try to appeal all the way to the Florida Supreme Court.

Yes, the president of the United States of America, the leader of the free world, the single most powerful human being on Planet Earth, a man who recently bombed Syria on a whim, lost a fight over a few thousand dollars' worth of paint supplies.

And let's not forget the $25 million lawsuit he lost against his fraudulent "Trump University," where he bilked hundreds of people out of thousands of dollars.

Lord Dampnut is also proud of the fact that he didn't release his taxes to the public, like evey president has since Nixon. Until he does (and it looks like he never will) we assume he's cheated on his taxes or is hiding some connection with Russian oligarchs he doesn't want us to know. It's highly likely he's hiding something bad, since all of his behaviors point to a man with no core values and no moral grounding.

The far right wingers who call themselves Christians voted for him, knowing that he's a cheat, a scammer, and a con artist, and that Trump wouldn't know a Bible verse from an Ivanka purse.

Think about that when you visit their blogs this Easter weekend and read how they pay lip service to their Savior who had nothing but contempt for rich men like Trump who worked to make the poor and the vulnerable more uncomfortable and the wealthy more comfortable.

Yet, those people support Trump because their "religion" is partisan politics, not Christianity.

Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.

Amen to Margaret Renkl and NYTimes Letter Writer

Margaret Renkl, Catholic and contributor to the NYT op-ed page:

A letter to the Editor in the NYTimes in response to Renkl's Op-Ed piece:

In the world of apostolic betrayals, it’s Judas who gets the headlines, but the everyday believer is more apt to fall in line behind Peter. Coldly handing Jesus over to his death in exchange for 30 pieces of silver was an over-the-top, cartoon-level move, but Peter’s terrified denial of the man he believed to be the savior of the world? That one seems immensely human to me.

I have a lot of sympathy for Peter these days. Here it is nearly Easter, and for the first time in my life I don’t want anyone to know I’m a believer. To many, "Christian" has become synonymous with angry white voters in red hats….

By any conceivable definition, the sitting president of the United States is the utter antithesis of Christian values — a misogynist who disdains refugees, persecutes immigrants, condones torture and is energetically working to dismantle the safety net that protects our most vulnerable neighbors. Watching Christians put him in the White House has completely broken my heart. Were I a true Christian, I would, with no little mortification, tell these red-hatted Christians what they could do with their heartbreaking Christianity.

Organized religion has always been tainted by MoliΓ¨relike hypocrisy. We get enough of that in soulless politics; no need to add more of it to what should be — to what is advertised as — a soulful experience.

The utter shabbiness of that claim has forever been exposed in hateful, Christianity-endorsed Trumpism. Thus were I a true Christian, I'd go by "Jesusian" or some such alternative religious identification.

For much like Margaret Renkl, I wouldn't want anyone to suspect I'm a believer in the brazenly hypocritical rot of Trumpian Christianity.

PRESIDENT EATS CHOCOLATE CAKE AND BOMBS

"Chocolate cake is the bomb." -- Scarlett Pomers

President Trump tells Maria Bartiromo he decided to bomb Syria while eating 'the most beautiful piece of chocolate cake'

President Trump spoke with Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo in a wide-ranging interview that aired Wednesday morning, touching on topics like Syria and health care. In the segment, he told Bartiromo the back-story to the missile strike launched last week at a Syrian airfield in retaliation for a chemical attack that killed dozens of Syrian civilians, for which the White House has blamed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Trump was hosting Chinese President Xi Jinping at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida while the mission was executed, and he told Bartiromo about the moment he informed Xi that he had sent 59 Tomahawk missiles hurtling toward Syria.

"We had finished dinner. We're now having dessert. And we had the most beautiful piece of chocolate cake that you've ever seen," Trump says, noting "President Xi was enjoying it."

Who doesn't enjoy a nice piece of chocolate cake while bombing the sh*t out of a sovereign nation that didn't attack us?

I know who:

Ivanka felt sad when she saw the photos of Assad's gassed children, so she told her daddy to drop some Tomahawk missiles on Syria.

And the annual Easter Egg Roll at the White House is on schedule to be another Trump FUBAR.

Melania Antoinette, who's been living in her husband's Golden Tower in New York, has been rather busy and unable to do the proper planning for this traditional White House event for her adopted country.

So Much Winning...

And the American people ARE getting sick of it!

Trump is winning in the category of spending more tax payer money on travel and leisure in 10 weeks than President Obama did in two years.

Donald Trump's travel expenses in 10 weeks cost US taxpayers as much as Barack Obama spent in two years

US President has spent seven weekends at Mar-a-Lago since taking office 10 weeks ago

Remember how the howling banshees on the right brayed about President Obama and his golf? Remember how Lord Dampnut criticized and mocked President Obama about how much time he spent golfing?

We remember.

But now President Happy Hands (h/t Ducky's Here) has spent more time and tax payer money on his golfing weekends (17 times) at his private resort (and charged the tax payers for it), than President Obama did, and not one little complaint by the biggest loudmouths on the right who whined and pouted about the Black Guy on the golf course.

And Lord Dampnut took off for the luxurious resort just after his magnificent display of Trumpian might where he dropped a bunch of Tomahawk missiles on an airfield in Syria, which was then in operation with Syrian jets taking off from it the next day.

That'll show Assad what a tough guy BLOTUS is!

"@gretawire: PresObama is not busy talking to Congress about Syria..he is playing golf ...go figure"

Can you believe that, with all of the problems and difficulties facing the U.S., President Obama spent the day playing golf.Worse than Carter

"@TheBigJamesG: What kind of president doesn't get playing golf after a cruel beheading isn't the thing to do? Detached from reality he is"

This was tweeted by the guy who sent Tomahawk missiles to Syria and then went golfing the next day.

President Profligate

UPDATE BELOW

The Rabid Right howled like stuck swine every time President Obama went golfing, but they are expectedly silent when the president with a fake "R" after his name does the same and much, much more. Not a word. And not a word from them about Lord Dampnut and his lovely Third Wife's church attendance. The Rabid Right were very much interested in President Obama and his family's church-going habits. Preznit Trump's?  Not at all. You see, he has a fake "R" after his name to match his fake devotion to their Savior.

"Conservapedia" devoted an entire page to President Obama's religion, but did not do so for Trump. When's the last time the Holier-Than-Thou Religious Right saw Trumpie and his family attend church?

Now we come to Trump's profligate spending of American taxpayers' money for his golfing weekends and for keeping his Third Wife and son in Trump Tower:

Donald Trump's travel expenses in 10 weeks cost US taxpayers as much as Barack Obama spent in two years

US President has spent seven weekends at Mar-a-Lago since taking office 10 weeks ago

[skip]

President Trump almost matched this figure in his first month - spending $10 million on three golfing holidays. The cost of travel and security for the entire Trump family is likely to be much higher, as the First Lady Melania and Mr Trump’s youngest son, Barron, are remaining in New York until at least September.

The New York Police Department has confirmed that it costs between $127,000 and $146,000 a day “to protect the First Lady and her son while they reside in Trump Tower". After he hosts Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mar-a-Lago this weekend, Mr Trump will have averaged $2.4 million tax dollars a week on his Florida trips. If he keeps going at this pace, he will have outspent Mr Obama’s $97 million figure in just ten months. Critics have pointed out that if the President cut back on these visits, he could fund the social security and arts programmes that he is planning to slash.

Maybe if Lord Dampnut dropped a few bombs on an empty airfield in Syria, the American people won't notice any of this?

UPDATE:

"...once the Chinese President left our country, the Chinese issued a statement that states their feelings on our bombing Syria. The Chinese State news agency called the strike, 'The act of a weakened politician who needed to flex his muscles.'"

In addition, that same news agency provided the analysis that #45 engaged in the strike so as to divert attention off of him specifically with regards to the Russian investigation." --Mark Bear

Saturday Night Funnies

WWaDD?

New Rules:

Trump Bombed: Now What?

Here's a report from 2013 when President Obama sought to LEGALLY bomb Syria after Assad's chemical weapons attack on his own people.

The GOP controlled Congress said a firm NO! to President Obama's request for Congressional authorization for military action, which is required by the Constitution.

Four years later, Republican so-called president Trump, who tweeted and railed against then President Obama's plans to send missiles to Syria, did EXACTLY what he told President Obama not to do; and then Trump sent missiles on a bombing mission WITHOUT Congressional authorization.

The corrupt Republicans are nothing more than political hacks, not interested in governing nor in Constitutional law, but only in wielding power - even if their head of state is a lying, cheating, con man. As long as he has a fake "R" after his name, Trump will get away with breaking laws and doing whatever he and the mendacious, cowardly thugs in the GOP will let him.

Trump's Defense Secretary, James Mattis

UPDATE BELOW
THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION reacted to the apparent use of chemical weapons against civilians by the Bashar al-Assad government with a flurry of air strikes against a Syrian military airfield Thursday night.  The bombing occurred after a widespread clamor for Trump to “do something” and without a thorough debate about what ultimate goal the U.S. is attempting to reach.

This is exactly what Trump’s defense secretary, Jim Mattis, warned about in remarks he made in 2013. Mattis had just retired from his role as the commander of U.S. Central Command, and agreed to be interviewed by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer about U.S. policy in the Middle East. When Blitzer asked Mattis about his views on military intervention against Syria’s government, the former general sounded a stern note of caution. He stressed that the United States should not intervene without a serious and well thought-out plan, and that it would be an enormous commitment.

“On Syria, ladies and gentlemen, we are going to have to determine what is the end state we want. This war needs to be ended as rapidly as possible. That’s the bottom line,” Mattis began. “But if the Americans go in, if the Americans take leadership, if the Americans take ownership of this, it’s going to be a full-throated, very, very serious war. And anyone who says this is going to be easy, that we can do a no-fly zone and it’ll be cheap, I would discount that on the outset.”

He then drew an analogy to the war in Iraq.

UPDATE:
Syrian jets carry out attacks from base hours after US missile strike: report

"...watch for him to launch a strike in Libya or Iran. He is desperate. 5:39 PM - 9 Oct 2012"

The guy who told President Obama NOT to get involved in Syria and to let the Arabs solve the Syrian problem bombed Syria.

He's also the same guy who said NO! to Syrian refugees: NO! NADA! NYET! to those poor children and babies who've been the victims of bombs pouring down on them from Assad for years.

THIS SYRIAN BABY IS NOT ALLOWED TO SEEK REFUGE IN TRUMP'S AMERICA

Trump showed the world what a "strong guy" he is by doing what he told Obama not to do.

In 2013, when a sarin nerve gas attack left more than 1,400 dead outside Damascus, President Barack Obama went to Congress to get approval to strike. In a whip count from ThinkProgress, 183 Republicans were against bombing the country.

Only 12 Republicans, including then-House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), sided with the president to launch a strike. Ultimately, Congress did not appear to approve the strike, with 243 Congressional members swaying towards voting “No.” Obama ultimately decided to postpone the vote.

Hmmmmm...

Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump Now that Obama’s poll numbers are in tailspin – watch for him to launch a strike in Libya or Iran. He is desperate. 5:39 PM - 9 Oct 2012
