A true Marie Antoinette "Let them eat cake" moment.
"Kellogg's CEO Gary Pilnick is facing backlash after suggesting that cash-strapped households save money by eating cereal for dinner. Pilnick, who oversees the company that produces Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops and Corn Flakes, floated the idea last week during an interview with CNBC."
I wouldn't feed Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops or Kellog's Corn Flakes to a starving rat, let alone a food-insecure family. All of those cereals are LOADED with sugar and have little to no nutritional value. And there he is telling people who are hurting financially to eat that crap for dinner.
Pilnick thought his comments would be well received. A CNBC reporter deliberately asked him if he thought there was 'a potential for that to land the wrong way.' Pilnick confidently responded, 'We don’t think so. In fact, it’s landing really well right now.'
That will have no impact on our family, since we do not buy any Kellogg's cereals or any boxed cereal. You may as well just feed yourself and your kids sugar right out of the sugar bowl. It would probably be healthier, since you and they wouldn't be ingesting the other crap those cereals contain.

BHT:
In the U.S., the chemical compound is used by some food makers, usually in the form of fine crystals or powder, to strengthen dough. It is estimated to be present in more than 100 products."

THIS (capitalism) is the source of fascism with it's often hidden and obscene Super-Ego injunction to "Enjoy!".
"ENJOY my cereal, it's cheaper then meat. If you need protein in your cereal, I'll gladly add insect parts and bugs in higher quantities..."
I've got a better idea. Let the lions in the local zoo start having junk-food executives for dinner (yes, I'm sure they're all flabby and gristly, but carnivores have tough systems and can handle it), and re-distribute those 540%-increased profits back to the workers who actually produced them. Maybe then they'll be able to afford proper food for dinner. As you point out, a lot of those "cereals" have so much added sugar that they're more like sugar with added cereal, and not much of it, with all the other stuff that gets dumped in. By the time you ate enough to get any real nutrition you'd have consumed so much sugar that you'd be comatose and on the way to obesity.
I didn't know that about BHT. I'll have to start checking for that in food ingredients.
I'm sorry i can't start boycotting Kelloggs cereal. I stopped eating the junk laden crap years ago.
Like most greed addicted corporate CEO's this guy's glaring ignorance is not surprising.
You wonder how CEOs that OK stupid ideas get to where they are at. I'm sure this wasn't his idea but he authorized the go-ahead.
How, may i inquire, can you be SURE? Where present during the decision process?
The idea was driven by a desire for increased sales/profits. Higher sales, higher profits. Better bonuses for the elite execs.
Let them eat flakes.
