General John Kelly: "He said that, in his opinion, Mr. Trump met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator if allowed, and had no understanding of the Constitution or the concept of rule of law."

Not all rich people are a$$holes, but this guy certainly is:

A true Marie Antoinette "Let them eat cake" moment.

"Kellogg's CEO Gary Pilnick is facing backlash after suggesting that cash-strapped households save money by eating cereal for dinner. Pilnick, who oversees the company that produces Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops and Corn Flakes, floated the idea last week during an interview with CNBC."

I wouldn't feed Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops or Kellog's Corn Flakes to a starving rat, let alone a food-insecure family. All of those cereals are LOADED with sugar and have little to no nutritional value. And there he is telling people who are hurting financially to eat that crap for dinner.

"Kellogg’s has repeatedly hiked prices in the last couple of years — even more so than other brands. The company’s average price per unit (box of cereal) was up 17% at the end of 2023, while General Mills, Quaker, and store brand prices were up 12%, according to data compiled by the Star Tribune. That paid off for Kellogg’s, and its profits rose 540% in 2023 (pdf).

Pilnick thought his comments would be well received. A CNBC reporter deliberately asked him if he thought there was 'a potential for that to land the wrong way.' Pilnick confidently responded, 'We don’t think so. In fact, it’s landing really well right now.'

Like all rich CEO tone-deaf, greedy idiots' ideas, it didn't "land well." People are organizing a Kellogg's boycott for the month of April.

That will have no impact on our family, since we do not buy any Kellogg's cereals or any boxed cereal. You may as well just feed yourself and your kids sugar right out of the sugar bowl. It would probably be healthier, since you and they wouldn't be ingesting the other crap those cereals contain.

Contents of Kellogg's Froot Loops:

Ingredients: Corn flour blend (whole grain yellow corn flour, degerminated yellow corn flour), sugar, marshmallows (sugar, corn syrup, dextrose, natural flavor, gelatin, yellow 5, red 40, yellow 6, blue 1), wheat flour, whole grain oat flour, modified food starch, contains 2% or less of vegetable oil (hydrogenated coconut, soybean and/or cottonseed oil), oat fiber, maltodextrin, salt, soluble corn fiber, natural flavor, red 40, yellow 5, blue 1, yellow 6, BHT for freshness. Vitamins and Minerals: Vitamin C (ascorbic acid), reduced iron, niacinamide, vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride), vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin B1 (thiamin hydrochloride), folic acid, vitamin D3, vitamin B12.

BHT:

"Why is BHT banned in Europe? It's a suspected carcinogen that's banned for human consumption in Europe, China and India, but not in the United States.

In the U.S., the chemical compound is used by some food makers, usually in the form of fine crystals or powder, to strengthen dough. It is estimated to be present in more than 100 products."

THIS (capitalism) is the source of fascism with it's often hidden and obscene Super-Ego injunction to "Enjoy!".

"ENJOY my cereal, it's cheaper then meat. If you need protein in your cereal, I'll gladly add insect parts and bugs in higher quantities..."

I've got a better idea. Let the lions in the local zoo start having junk-food executives for dinner (yes, I'm sure they're all flabby and gristly, but carnivores have tough systems and can handle it), and re-distribute those 540%-increased profits back to the workers who actually produced them. Maybe then they'll be able to afford proper food for dinner. As you point out, a lot of those "cereals" have so much added sugar that they're more like sugar with added cereal, and not much of it, with all the other stuff that gets dumped in. By the time you ate enough to get any real nutrition you'd have consumed so much sugar that you'd be comatose and on the way to obesity.

I didn't know that about BHT. I'll have to start checking for that in food ingredients.

I'm sorry i can't start boycotting Kelloggs cereal. I stopped eating the junk laden crap years ago.

Like most greed addicted corporate CEO's this guy's glaring ignorance is not surprising.

You wonder how CEOs that OK stupid ideas get to where they are at. I'm sure this wasn't his idea but he authorized the go-ahead.

How, may i inquire, can you be SURE? Where present during the decision process?

The idea was driven by a desire for increased sales/profits. Higher sales, higher profits. Better bonuses for the elite execs.
