Hate breeds hate.

Racism and hate speech are tearing our country apart. First came the racist Tea Party reaction to Obama, then the birtherism from Trump, until he finally calls half the country "vermin" and "Marxists".

No wonder someone was driven to madness and turned a rifle on Trump. It was insane, suicidal, and extremely stupid. Now he's dead.

There's no happy ending to this. Trump might even blame Biden, and his cult will surely be out for blood. Now we watch to see what horrors the deranged and enraged Trumpists will commit in retaliation.

This is the America the NRA built. Millions of mentally disturbed people having access to millions of weapons.

What could go wrong?

Im not a big fan of political violence, no matter who it is visited on. But we are living in a time when one party seems to encourage and even normalize political violence.

And I'm not talking about the fight, fight, fight bulls*#t. I'm talking about the take 'em out back and rough 'em up, I'll pay your legal bills crap.

There are people that when they hear political leaders and bloggers like in your previous post normalizing violence, use of guns, etc., they react, badly.

There's no excuse for anyone to shoot or attack a political opponent. None. Full Stop.

I only wish all ppl in politics and the blogosphere would say that and really mean it.

But that's where we are.

Sadly.

I've heard again and again today after the attempted assassination of Trump that there's no place for political violence in America.

I find those words to be hollow, since I've seen enough political violence in my lifetime to put the lie to that.

JFK assassinated in Dallas, Texas
Gerald Ford assassination attempt
Ronald Reagan shot and nearly died
Jimmy Carter
Donald Trump

Also, US Congressional Reps: Steve Scalise, Gabby Giffords

And the last political violence that resulted in deaths was January 6.

If there's no place for this, then why does it continue to happen?

The last time a British Prime Minister was assassinated was in 1812, Spencer Perceval.

The last president of France to be assassinated was in 1931, Paul Doumer.

The last prime minister to be assassinated was Aldo Moro, but he had left office when he was kidnapped and assassinated in 1978.

The last time a Greek prime minister was assassinated was in 1885, Theodoros Deligiannis

On 20 December 1973, Luis Carrero Blanco, the Prime Minister of Spain, was assassinated

There appears to be very much "a place" in my country for political violence, and it sickens me.

Just sayin':

Wajahat Ali

And it's perfectly fair to remind people that after Paul Pelosi survived an assassination attempt, MAGA and Trump joked about it, mocked him, & spread ugly conspiracies. I'm glad Democratic leaders didn't behave like that today. There's a difference, folks. Clear difference.

Biden immediately called his political rival to see if he was ok, then told the nation that "everyone must condemn political violence."

On Jan 6, Trump did nothing for 187 minutes while supporters called to hang his Vice President.

Who do you think is more fit to be President?
