The Season of Giving

Friends of Progressive Eruptions are familiar with Dave Miller, a frequent commenter.  He is executive director of Adventures in Life Ministries.

Please read this account of what happened in a small village near Oaxaca.  It's devastating.

The link will take you to Dave's blog where he describes what happened to that village just recently.

If you can find it in your hearts to contribute any amount, I urge you to do so.  The above link will give you all the information you need to do so.

Thank you for your generosity and kindness.

"They beat us and left us for dead..." An urgent message from AIL Ministry Executive Director Dave Miller about Eloxochitlán, Oaxaca...

"They beat us and left us for dead... but the Lord gave us life again!"

That is how Pastor Chablé, our main ministry partner in Oaxaca, described what happened last weekend in Eloxochitlán, the village our medical team served in October.

This week I had planned on sharing a simple Christmas message with our AIL Network. And then real life intruded on those plans. So I am sharing something different. A story of pain, loss, and ultimately hope.

On Sunday, December 14th in the middle of the day, Eloxochitlán, more than 6 hours away from our ministry base in Oaxaca City, erupted in political violence between people holding opposing views of the role of government in everyday life.

Shaw... thank you so much for helping get the word out...

We have been overwhelmed with support on this, and that includes people who saw this here.

I've been doing this for many years and this is the worst thing I have even experienced.

I truly do appreciate your posting this and bringing it to the attention of another group of potential people who can help.

I posted this on my facebook page as well and hope people will respond. Even a $5 contribution will be most helpful.

I'd like to get this out to more people. Americans are big-hearted and if they know about something as dire as this I know they will open their hearts and wallets.

I'm looking into starting a page dedicated to this on facebook. I've never done it before, but I'll give it a shot.

Leslie reposted my facebook post over at her homepage. That means more people will see it.

The real reason for the season, Shaw.

I have seen the worst of the worst on many public blogs, but the pornorgraphy, filth, and slime that Lisa allows on her blog deserves exposure for encouraging the disgusting depravity.

Some unhappy, illiterate conservative blogger has copied Shaw's post, rewritten it, and slandered and attacked Dave Miller.

Those animals revel in hatred, dishonor, and stupidity. It's beyond understanding, but not unusual to witness this sort of behavior from those people. They have no humanity in them. None.

They deserve damnation for what they've said about Dave.

We here at P.E. have more to occupy our thoughts than the ravings of half-witted bottom feeders. It's evident that the sort of numbskulls who attack Dave would have attacked Jesus too. Dave is doing the same sort of ministering that Jesus did, and Lisa's best friends are mocking that work?

Would you have expected anything better from idiots like them?

No more on this. I'm well aware of the stench from that rat's nest of haters.

twinkies, duck, shaw and of course, anon... thanks for your support, kind thoughts, words, and if you gave, direct help for my friends in Eloxochitlan.

Here's what led directly to the problems. High in the mountains, hours from the capital of the state of Oaxaca, a group of people had the audacity to call for equal rights for women, expecting that their votes would be counted and that a woman, Elisa Zepeda, could run for Mayor of this small town.

For that, they were attacked.

They are determined to return to the land their families have lived on for hundreds of years as the main ringleaders of the attack are now all in jail, indicted for murder.
