"Michael Gerson, former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, summed it up this way:

The document was crafted by a senator with two months of experience under his belt. It was signed by some members rushing off the Senate floor to catch airplanes, often with little close analysis. Many of the 47 signatories reasoned that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s endorsement was vetting enough. There was no caucus-wide debate about strategy; no consultation with Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), who has studiously followed the nuclear talks (and who refused to sign).

This was a foreign policy maneuver, in the middle of a high-stakes negotiation, with all the gravity and deliberation of a blog posting. In timing, tone and substance, it raises questions about the Republican majority’s capacity to govern.
This is the definition of a party in disarray. And its all happening just as their two frontrunners for the 2016 presidential nomination are starting to throw some elbows at each other. There will be a lot more of that over the next few months.

I say all of this because I think that Sun Tzu was right.
If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.

Or as Fred Kaplan said in an article titled: Amateur Hour:

It is a useful thing when a political party reveals itself as utterly unsuited for national leadership."

"...[the GOP] reveals itself as utterly unsuited for national leadership"

So true!

The bottom-feeders find Tehran Tom heroic, and that's because they haven't a clue about governing. What they know really well are scoring cheap shots, calling the president names, and making colossal jerks of themselves on a global scale. They think they've done something grand. It's what people who have no self-awareness suffer from each time they commit stupidity on such a grand scale.

FreeThinkers? Well, in this case you get what you pay for.

I didn't pay for it, did you?

We just got stuck with it.

No one said the Tpubs are smart. They gave obama a gift and he should thank them just like putin did. If he fails he can blame the tpubs.
What they did is not as bad as the democrat Jim Crowe law but it was a mistake just the same.

I know the democrats were not democrats because they were dixiecrats just like the Tpubs are not republicans they are tparty.

skud, can you ever come here and make a comment without bringing Jim Crow into the discussion? I think you can't. I think you're so embarrassed by what the crazies who have taken over the GOP did that the only way to deal with the searing pain the embarrassment causes is to yell JIM CROW DEMOCRATS! It's tiresome and has nothing to do with the subject. And again, it's trolling.

I'm sorry, but you're just a one-trick pony.

Meanwhile you never follow up your JIM CROW DEMOCRATS! statements with the fact that those JIM CROW DEMOCRATS all went over to the GOP as soon as President Johnson passed the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Act.

Why is that?

The Jim Crow democrats of the past are the GOP of the present. Remember the past, but deal with the present.
